with six years of covetable releases under its belt its safe to say that erol alkans flourishing phantasy label is well on its way to establishing itself as the uks preeminent purveyor of independent music. 2013 has been a particularly golden year with daniel averys critically acclaimed debut lp dropping in early october, sao paulo wunderkind babe, terrors btu project with man make musics u, recent collaborations with emperor machines andy meecham as future four and disco mavericks in flagranti and a slice of perfect summer pop from nadia ksaiba, not to mention connan mockasins upcoming sophomore opus caramel and the debut release from mysterious new signing ghost culture.

at the end of 2006, erol alkan was at a crossroads. he’d been voted dj of the year by mixmag. he’dmade landmark, expectation-defying remixes for bands he loved: a crunching “glam racket” reworking of ‘do you want to’ for franz ferdinand, a wonderfully wistful reinterpretation of hop chip’s ‘boy from school’, a psychedelic take on scissor sisters’ ‘i don’t feel like dancing’ and a genre-defining reworking of justice’s ‘waters of nazereth’.

just three months after the dropping of the 100percent analog tracks roland rat / brain storm (bnr075) we proudly presents two idiosyncratically interpretations by 2 legends in electronic music roland rat got reworked by techno pioneer and our hero lfo (warp records), who sampled the rat and moduled it to death. the second remix comes from >the baron of techno< dave clarke together with mr jones, who turned >brain storm< into a straight and dark pumpin monster. enjoy!

once again, erol alkan and boys noize have teamed up, for what has become a stunning re-imagining of last years smash single >avalanche<. determined to avoid a taking an obvious route, the pair originally intended to commision a spoken word interpretation - the natural choice was the melifluous jarvis cocker. on the remix tip the duo enlist the maestro himself ewan pearson, who supplies the deeper underground re-version, that reroutes proceedings to dubbed out berlin basement afterhours to stunning effect. not to be out done, hot talent canblaster interprets the original as a low-slung bleeptastic old-school electro workout that rounds the package off in glorious style.

limited to 500 copies! hot on the heels of this years maxi single, erol alkan and boys noize proudly present the stunning chilly gonzales piano rework of waves. the legendary entertainist has been a long time friend of alkans (he was also the only performer to play his london niteclub trash 3 times during its decade long existence) and has currently been putting the finishing touches to his boys noize produced next album, set for release next year. released november 23rd on an extremely limited edition 10 inch of 500, the piano rework comes backed with a spoken word episode from chilly explaining how one would translate a club banger into something your grandfather could get with! fresh off his guinness world record performance (27 hours, 3 minutes and 44 seconds), chilly will also be appearing at a londons la pigalle as part of a residency every wednesday throughout november for a series of piano talk shows, each featuring a cameo appearance from friends.

the peers of the new electronic movement have teamed up for the hottest berlin/london connection on the dancefloor, erol alkan & boys noize present their first tracks on august 31st 2009, the forthcoming twelve inch and digital release >waves / death suite< >waves< is a top of the night balearic/disco storm, >death suite< is a more abstract, cut n paste techno/acid rollercoaster. both tracks were initially envisaged purely as battle weapons for erol and boys noizes’ respective dj sets, but the response has been such that a full release became inevitable

so gerd and philipp were due to play xoyo one saturday night and the club is 6 minutes from my studio so i suggested we go there first to make tunes for a few hours. we made 2 songs that night and one of them is ‘reach out’. gerd did the drums on my 808, philipp wrote the beautiful lead part on my obxa and i did the bass in my cs80. i added the words a couple of weeks later, they are inspired by leonard cohen’s letter to his muse marianne ihlen on her deathbed. (joe goddard) including fantastic remixes by erol alkan and osborne.

black crow is the third single to be taken from the album ‘the soft bounce’. part american gothic, part future movie soundtrack, it’s a song of haunting beauty. holly miranda s vocal glides across reflective strings and delicate crystalline snippets of sound, resulting in an epic torch song lament. it’s backed with white crow, erol alkan s mighty extended reworking of the song, placing it in spacious widescreen, where you can hear for miles.
