argentinian dj and producer, ernesto ferreyra, provided cadenza with a rich and inspirational album back in 2010, the intricate and balanced el paraiso de las tortugas was a masterclass in minimal electronic dance. four years on, and ernesto returns to lucianos label with the insight single, and a precursor to another album for the label, slated for october release. voltage poem displays a huge progression for ernesto, a stomping, elastic backbeat, peppered with live percussion, shakers and micro glitches dances around the mechanical funk of the bassline.

right in the trails of the past months releases, andreas jornvils splendid omg ep and the deep warm ethnic la boca ep by gonzales comes this proper stomping business from ernesto ferreyra. the first cut has this irresistable good times feel and discolike flavour thrown in for good measure with those rumbling congas. bakana is the name of the game here. taking you back to the mid 90s cut up techniques of cajual records and exactly the track that someone like derrick carter would kill the floor with. flip over the record and you get the bonus bouncer of ground which is a slow builder that has something like an italo disco synth in the distant deep space and all of a sudden explodes in cascades of soundwaves.

supported by brett johnson, woody, dj t, chris duckenfield and laurent garnier !! >the last shooter< uses mind bending funk to tell the story of three people ending an epic day/night in a blaze of jagermeister glory. the most descriptive element of this tracky adventure would be the misguided, off kilter synth twists that give the listener the illusion of drunkenness and vertigo. backed with a spine of latin percussion and tweaked low rez hi hats this a side packs a punch that can be only compared to >the last shooter< of the night.funk flows on when you flip it to side b. fongtom rides along with a thick walking bass line that weaves grinds with some of ferreyras signature percussion. a playful melody serves as the memory game hook that wont fade away even after a post joint meltdown or a night of mtv top 40 abuse

sometimes a track is so hot it just has to come back around again. about ten years ago brett johnson and dave barker (stucco homes) wrote some unbelievably catching house tunes, one of them being temptation and lies. so it just seemed right to give this track yet another life. deadbeat and mike shannon dive deep into a stripped down techno groover, removing the constant use of the vocals and creating a rolling techno dub version. some seriously deep bass in the production that works the subs in all the right places. ernesto ferreyra and guillaume coutu dumont aka chic miniature give you a playful melodic version on the flip. full use of the original chord progressions, combined with the guys signature marimba/latin percussion leaving you with a lush, warm summer hit. then brett dives into the track again giving you the oohs and ahhs mix. a ten minutes work out with bjs patented groove focused on the vocal harmonies in the original. the result is a warped, spaced out, long player that is sure to twist a few heads. mental just about sums it up. of course we had to include the original masterpiece for those who didnt find it the first time round. a favorite of everyone involved on the remix project i think youll agree that the temptation and lies cynosure mixes do the original some justice.
