im rahmen ihres zweiten albums laden uns die berüchtigten berliner partylieblinge channel x auf eine verrückte reise in ihr ganz persönliches wonderland ein. inspiriert von lewis carrolls psychedelischem klassiker um alice? bewusstseinserweiterndes erlebnis im eigenen paralleluniversum, liefern miko und andré quasar einen zutiefst euphorischen einblick in ihr musikalisches rabbit hole. so treffen auf der ersten von zwei vinyl 12? bewährte soundtexturen des tech house-spektrums auf straffen deep house, jeweils mit einem ohr für?s detail, aber natürlich auch der liebe zur tanzfläche, produziert.

aah, how we have missed them! the fine young gentlemen that are channel x, two of stil vor talents most active producers of meticulously crafted and deeply energetic tech-house smash hits. and just in time for the open-air season they now come back with two very convincing pieces of dancefloor art. first up is >little symphony<, an epic space opera that takes it cues from early 90s techno and mixes it up with post-modern grooves and beats. the wide and open spaces are filled with some very hymnal string patterns that are given a final treatment with a reverbed and high-pitched vocal sample. contrast that with the rather jittery beat and a subbass as deep as the frequencies will go and you got yourself a substantially clear bit of techno that is best imagined when it is dark and only some beams of air tell you where you are. channel x do not produce, they direct and all of the sounds are their actors! on the flip things get more light-hearted and set for the daylight hours as well. >steamboat willie< is a heavily sample-orientated swinging piece of jack. the rhythm guitar lead the way on top of a clap-based loop that sets the basis for some very jazzy interpretations along the way. clarinets, trumpets, percussions, brass, effects and even some talking vocal samples are all allowed to join in this hedonistic big band that is at play. this is one for the sunshine, this is one for the smiles on the faces, this is one to feel instantly good about yourself and everything around you. two very different tracks on this ep, but both equally stand out for themselves

salome heisst nicht nur der a1 track der neuen upon you single von channel x, sondern auch der titel eines bekannten orientalischen foxtrotts, komponiert im jahr 1920 von robert stolz. von foxtrott ist bei channel x im jahr 2011 nicht viel zu hören, dafür schielt der moderne künstler immer noch gerne ins morgenland und holt sich so seine inspirationen für den okzidentalen clubwahnsinn. für eine propere platte setzen sich die beiden sogar in den >orient express< und lassendie kulturellen quellen der inspiration am a2 fenster vorbeiziehen. während ihrer reise salben die kollegen audiojack noch mal salome mit ihrer patentierten tanzpaste, die momentan so ziemlich jeden uns bekannten dancefloor schmiert... runde sache

this is the first of two vinyl releases of the channel x debut album >the x files<. andré and mirko decided to put four smashers on this first ep: it kicks off with circus-infused polka minimal tech track >freak show<. next up is >strange girl<, the tooly and soulful vocal tech-house that channel x have become renowned for. on the flip its channel x show how deep their house approach can go on the super sweet male vocal track >snug descent<. last, but surely not least this ep finishes with >we love the x<, a perfect showcase of what channel x stand for: vocals, effects, big basslines and strong loops.

channel xs music is so deeply inspired by and set in the club realm that this is as authentic and real as club music gets in early 2010. actually the word club music becomes a whole new meaning when listening to >x files<. channel x have taken the stagnating genre that was minimal techno and minimal house from the mid- and late-naughties into the new decade and have managed to create their very own interpretation of how dance music should sound in dark clubs, at early morning raves and full sunshine afterhours. the truth is now out there!

groovebox ep is filled with some class a material for the raunchy dancefloor. first up there is into the club. this track is typical for channel x: it will blow off the roof in the club! as the title of the track already suggests, this is another one of channel xs lengthy journeys into nightlife extravaganzas. a wonderful fidgety bassline and a loop filled with loads of soulful vocal samples from strong male leads to sensitive female souls, this tune is both deep, touchful and destroying. the chainsaw effect session in the middle paves the way for more stomping tech-house business. no time to recover from this, because on the flip its straight onto the floor with wake up: a loop thats made of trillions of little cut-up effects, vocal bits and some straight four to the floor business. after a playful beginning the tune moves into an hypnotic piece of trippy techno only to be converted into a restless party anthem for the Überpeak-time. sick! perhaps there is some time to chill with the last of the three tracks that is against the wall. here it becomes clear what channel x are best at: to create dark, hard and moving electronic music with that special ingredient that is soul. this track is a perfect example: some frightening effects, lots of reverb on the creepy samples, but such a wonderfully harmonic sample that seems to shed light at the end of the never-ending afterhour. if there is a message to this music, it would be: you need to look hard, but there is always love. once again label boss oliver koletzki has picked up these two very talented producers very early upon their career and it has paid off: in one release being better than the one before

coinciding with the cinema premier of bar25 – tage ausserhalb der zeit (bar25 –days out of time), the bar25 label is releasing the official soundtrack. together with its closest musician friends, the label began work over a year ago on exclusive tracks that would be included in the final cut. the result is a remarkable compilation of works from a number of music genres – a unique collection of musical contributions by steadfast companions of the exceptional place that was bar25. this 12inch inch is a very special present to our vinyl friends.like the film, this compilation a tiny testament for eternity to the late, great bar25 something definitely worth having on the shelf for reliving the feelings experienced there when it existed from time to time.

it might sound like an empty phrase, but when oliver koletzki founded stil vor talent in 2005, he certainly didnt anticipate where his label would be today. now - six years and over sixty releases later - stil vor talent can look back at many magnificent moments in the labels history. originally started to give other musicians the chance to showcase their music, stil vor talent has preserved this very down-to-earth attitude until today and has helped foster the careers of producers such as channel x, niko schwind, juli holz or david august to name just a few. while there have never been any musical or stylistic limitations, an open philosophy dominated by quality and individualism prevails at olivers label, from delicately designed record sleeves to their own fashion line and to music that varies from house to pop to jacking dancefloor cuts. now it is time to congratulate everyone involved and the fans of stil vor talent with a special birthday present: a six-year anniversary compilation that celebrates past, present and future of the label on two cds
