the rawkers ep…more than 10 years after the release of cassius first album, the duet comes out with a 6 tracks project that mustn’t have left a lot of people whove listened to it indifferent. well, if there are two people who appreciated the ep, it is jay-z & kanye west, aka the throne, who sampled the famous i <3 uso on their track why i love you, turning it into an absolute popular anthem. if the former album of the band was a tribute to adolescence, here it is more about the earliest days of ours, as the song les enfants (children) depicts it. to such an extent that the rawkers ep sounds like a gigantic playground, full of joy and happiness. were glad to repress this record and to give you an opportunity to escape through this enchanting opus, before cassius new album is released.

yo everyone !!! ten years ago (an eternity nowadays) we put out the first cassius track ever. it was called >cassius 99< and it was the first single from our debut album. 1999?.it was also one of our biggest hits. its ten years later now and knowing we have our own label and own our back catalogue we absolutely couldnt resist putting it out again as some kind of >10th anniversary release<. resistance to remix it was weak so we remastered the original and asked producers we really appreciated to give it a go and do their own version of this oldie/goldie.

bunny -striker- lee begann seine musikkarriere, indem er fuer verschiedene labels wie duke reids treasure isle oder coxsone dodds studio one als plugger arbeitete. mit dem aufkommen von rocksteady fing der 1941 auf jamaika geborene produzent an, eigene stuecke zu produzieren. mit großem erfolg: max romeos -wet dream- bescherte lee 1969 den ersten großen charterfolg, zwischen 1969 und 1972 wurde er als jamaikas topproduzent geehrt, die erste goldene schallplatte der insel erhielt er 1971 fuer eric donaldsons -cherry oh baby-. dann kam dub, und -striker- lee arbeitete mit king tubby und erfand zusammen mit dem soul-syndicate-schlagzeuger einen an den philly-sound angelegten rhythm, den sogenannten -flying cymbals--sound, mit dem er bis 1975 erfolge feierte. das best-of-album -reggae going international 1967 - 1976 enthaelt einige der groeßten internationalen hits der jamaika-legende.
