benga returns with future funk the pioneering uk producer, dj and innovator adegbenga adejumo, better known as benga, has announced his return to music with a new ep titled future funk. the 3-track ep heralds a new chapter for the 29 year-old and finds him on better form than ever, ready to get back to what he does best.

hafiza innocenceis olugbenga’s debut release. having built a following djing at festivals and clubs worldwide, crafting remixes and producing mixtapes, olugbenga’s music draws on elements from techno, gospel and the claustrophobic soundscapes of post-rock.

this double a sided release finds us in a mellow mood as we couple joshua moses >pretty girl< with sharon bengamins >mr guy<.
>mr guy< is a lovely slice of lovers rock and somewhat overlooked when released in 1980 but it has become a firm favourite with us here at bristol archive. >pretty girl< finds roots singer joshua moses showing his softer side, it was something of a hit on the original release and makes a natural pairing with sharons tune.
both tracks were originally released as singles on bristol label shoc-wave records some thirty years ago and were given their first digital release with their well deserved inclusion on >the bristol reggae explosion 1978 ¹ 1983<. >mr guy< also made it onto the limited vinyl version of the album, but running time constraints meant there was no room for >pretty girl< something we a very pleased to rectify with this vinyl release.

kapsize is very proud to present our next release from none other than international dubstep superstar – benga! a man who should need little introduction – benga has been famously instrumental in shepherding dubstep music from its inception almost 10 years ago, right through to the global phenomenon it has become now. having stormed the charts and festivals recently as one third of the mighty magnetic man, benga is still able to walk a delicate tightrope – consistently providing us with credible underground dancefloor music with an accessible edge. the two cuts benga lets loose here on kapsize, >faithless< and >acid lie<, exemplify this finely tuned understanding of how to work a dancefloor into a frenzy without losing ones cool.

oi! recordings, is the new label that grew out of the oi! parties in amsterdam. oi! recordings is bringing the sound and vibe that you know from their parties, good & high quality party tunes. allot of the forthcoming releases will be coming from dutch, but also from uk artists that need to be heard! names like: dion47, mucky muxx, akkachar & taz buckfaster, maikon, soul sinners, gomes, fs green allready released on the oi! recordings digital label. dj gomes managed to get two amazing tracks from benga and kutz that screamed to be on vinyl! transformers from benga is on his youtube and soundcloud for a while as well as a regular climax in the mans dj sets. transformers is that tune all the fans are waiting for! as described by benga himself: sounds horrible when i play it out! hit! you think thats it? flip it over for kutz! shake it. monsterous tunage once again. wobbles all over the place,big big big!

anthem alert bassline will definitely run throughout your body when you hear this one! currently doing the rounds on dubplate, another fierce collaboration between these two, croydon based walsh has been a part of the dubstep scene from day 1. having released on major labels such as texture and hotflush with the likes of benga & kromestar walsh has become a key player in the dubstep scene. he is known for his tight mixing skills playing the freshest dubplates the music has to offer. walsh is also known internationally, playing at many events across the world as well as all over the uk on a regular basis to include the infamous dmz & fwd nights. he is a regular guest on rinse, kiss and radio 1. go and get your bassface!

from the critically acclaimed lp diary of an afro warrior, comes the self titled, hugely anticipated double pack from dubsteps own champion of crossover, benga. the first plate features three tracks from diary of an afro warrior which were previously unavailable on wax much to the dismay of djs and collectors around the globe. go tell them is a menacing warning to all beats that beni bengaadejumo is about about to manipulate them to do his bidding, its this track in particular which saw mixmag, dj and future music draw the inevitable comparisons between benga and kraftwerk. loose synthsas the name suggest is an altogether more legato experience, employing lush synths strung together with a drum pattern which has an iron horse like canter whilst the a side, pleasure, is a continuous roll of peaks and troughs of emotion as benga sets out his manifesto which is quite simply to give you pleasure. the second plate kicks off with bengas off his head, which clash magazine call the highlight of skreams recent watch the ride mix. between benga and long time sparring partner skreams extensive worldwide dj dates they ve whipped up quite a frenzy about this track by including it in their sets. there are over 50 forum pages dedicated to this tune alone and its currently clocked over 75.000 plays on his myspace page. bengas off his head is backed something completely different four to the floor banger better.
