repress 2015 ! our friends from leipzig alex and dennis aka sevensol & bender (kann records) sent us some tracks for listening when fauxpas musik wasnt even founded. scuba was one of those and didnt disappear from our mind since then. klick, klack, bumm tschack - now weve got some remixes from oskar offermann (white) and aera (aleph music, goldwill) taking the track further and a perfect ep is done! this vinyl comes in hard plastic sleeve . try it, love it, or not - we do! vinyl tastes better…

professional youth club terms another fine 2track ep from label owners sevensol & bender. with kann 21 both again renew their status as trusty soldiers of rhythm and atmosphere, while reconfirming their own trollig – sentiment even though the obvious glimpse is addressed to never ending dance floors.

suitable to the long awaited spring, a new freundchen epis coming around. this time its a various artist ep which is named >kokolores<. it comes with an outstanding kokolores original mix from dimo emmermann and a massive remix from labelhead timo jahns and his good friend bjoern bender. the third track is also a co production of timo jahns and bjoern bender, named >free vibes<. its a great package to start into spring. enjoy this new freundchen release while dancing to the first sunny days in 2012.

in 2011 some berlin based recordshops try to reclaim the streets with the so called >record store day< for the first time in germany. also kann was asked for a limited vinyl to support their concern. on that specific occasion we bring a new two track ep except for the regular series. kann rsd breaks ranks with an extra beautiful edit of the awesome witchwaver sunglitters, composited by nuremburgs essay. b-side builts back the bridge to the label and gives finally >aperture< from sevensol & bender the appropriate space. the track was originally released on kann00 in 2008. for the artwork kann is pretty happy to won over famed – a chummy art collective – for doing an impressing independent work.

phaedrus is the monikor of dutch dj and producer joris kamma who currently resides in seattle. drawing from multiple techno and house influences in the early nineties, joris developed his own unique aesthetic best described as deep and quirky sounds always combined with a strong groove. for this special transfusions release, joris has crafted 4 minimal yet powerful techno weapons that are sure to bend the minds and heighten the energy of the crowd in the way that only perfect techno can. simply put, this is classic techno at it s finest!

‘family horror x good times’ is an extensive 15 tracks compilation, where the leipzig label reflects on an intense and impassioned decade. kann asked close friends and long time idols to play their part to the full to complete the third edition of the label’s family horror compilation series. the outcome is a clear snapshot of the musical inclinations of the three label founders, sevensol & map.ache (aka manamana) and bender, encapsulating an idiosyncratic, modern house sound that demands an emotional response. the compilation comes rounded off by a booklet of photographs from ria aka lux which just like the music captures some of the beautiful ‘good times’ from this very special period, this time on paper.

following the recent release of so low, a compilation of early ‘80s synth, industrial and cold wave classics and undiscovered gems curated by optimo’s jd twitch aka keith mcivor, the vinyl factory are set to release specially commissioned remixes of two tracks on the 16-track compilation by rising uk producer powell and hamburg’s helena hauff. powell’s pneumatic sound is perfectly suited to ‘49 second romance’ by german minimalists p1/e, which he deftly deconstructs, while hauff adds glistening synths to belgian electro-industrial group the klinik’s ‘moving hands’ for a driving, nocturnal version.

optimos prolific dj/producer/label boss jd twitch aka keith mcivor has curated a compilation of early 80s synth, industrial and cold wave classics and undiscovered gems in collaboration with the vinyl factory, following the cease & desist diy! (cult classics from the post-punk era 1978-82) compilation on his own optimo music label, and youth stand up!, a collaborative recording project featuring young musicians from glasgow, ghana and belize on his autonomous africa imprint.

another round of wonderful eclectic delights from balearica. side a features the in demand *tonys song* by tony g. originally released back in 88, this floorfilling electro-tinged house classic features an incredibly catchy piano riff, phat bassline and some spoken vocals taken from al pacinos *scarface*. a massive hit both at amnesia in ibiza as well as at manchesters hacienda and at the early acid house parties, this track still sounds super fresh. next up is the dope vocoder-laden groove of escape from new yorks *slow beat* - a brilliant balearic chugger that features high on many most-wanted lists. on the flipside, we get the much desired slo-mo disco of steve benders *the final thing* - a moog-heavy groover that hit big at both the balearic parties and on italys cosmic scene. then finally, to round off this great compilation is the extended instrumental version of bowie & methanys *this is not america* - a favourite of everyone from alfredo to theo parrish. quality stuff!

lets give kitkaliitto a warm welcome! instantly impressed by these guys music we were – quite unique and not easy to classify. so this is their debut ep – coming straight from helsinki with love, three tracks and a remix. you can hear influences and samples from deep movie scores, downtempo, house, even big beat always escorted by some factor for self destruction. the remix of moravia by sevensol & bender shoves a rough house skeleton under tom pavlas fantastic trumpet – simple, raw and beautiful.

luke s been a favourite of fabric s for a long time. his platform as one of the creators of uk/detroit s techno marriage, blending the intensity of techno s hardest funk and minimal flavours with the sweet swagger and chunky bristle of a fat street party, established much of the music fabric programs week-in, week-out. while always returning under his own moniker, his releases under the aliases slots for bill, 7th plain, the, clementine, deputy dawg, l.b. dub corp, lloyd owes me a packet, morganistic, offset, planetary assault systems, translucent, heamaglobien, machine, re-animator, and spinach continue to arrest the zeitgeist s understanding of his form.

first of all the ortloff is home to a couple of people. in the beginning mainly used for living, working and exhibitions the ortloff now has become a centre of art and music subculture at leipzig. inspired by this creative atmosphere, artists, designers and musicians came together to produce their own record. this interchange of ideas makes the forthcoming ep >ortloff 1< a unique piece of art and music

the music label kann was founded by map.ache (jan barich), sevensol (alex neuschulz) and bender (dennis knoof). kann will mainly release own music but also productions from varied artists. musically kann is defined by modern dance music but with an individual approach to the music. despite the label owners have different musical origins. kann wants to combine their unique styles to a common ground. kann compasses a freedom with lots of possibilities and individual profile at the same time. it creates the base of the creative work of all contributors who cannot keep their hands of music...everything kann!!!!

the mood series has already left a legacy that we feel is as deep as the music genre it supports. we wish to thank everyone who has had a hand in making it happen. from the amazing artists to our support team, family, friends, the pressing plants, and of course you the listener!
