this new collaboration between two of cadenzas finest talents makes its official debut on mobilee with black shoes, a cut that pops, crackles, and snaps like youd never believe. dance floor ready yet unwilling to sacrifice an explicit focus on the details, black shoes pulsates with bass while suggesting a kind of lightness as whispered and fragmented voices hiss and murmur in the background. the melodics, which give off the feel of being in constant flux, provide a nice contrast to the intensely regularized bass drum while simultaneously meshing with the popping percussion that guide the track along its course. breakdowns filled with the sounds of static and 8-bit provide a nice experimental touch to this track that works equally well as a late-night romp as it does on the headphones. b-side speech also gives off a stuttered feel but is even more blippy and fragmented than its counterpart while migrating towards a more jacking vibe. brito and toro compliment this fractured sound with extensive use of vocal samples—both spoken and sung—that, while incomprehensible, lock in seamlessly with the overall feel of the track. melody here references both vintage sounds and traditional minimalism with the end result being a fusion of the two that is truly extraordinary.

venezuelan producer argenis brito graces us with his sophomore cadenza release, the imminent ep. renowned for his role as lead vocalist for senor coconut as well as his collaborative projects with artists as decorated as luciano, pier bucci, jay haze and samim, the multi-talented argenis solo work comes with some pedigree. resident in berlin since 2004, his distinctly latin interpretation of house is a step ahead of the game, with prior releases on junion and cadenza animating floors with that inimitable south american fervour. title track >imminent< is a playful affair,with bouncing bass and a shimmering synth melody dancing around the kick. intoxicating and funked up, the melodies call and respond in a fragmented conversation while pulsing echoed tones add depth to the mix. >mind body soul< stutters into a complex percussive pattern, coloured by warm keys and blocks of bass tone. funky is the word, as a distorted vocal directs bodies to the floor. deep and immersive, dark melodic synth movements plunge us into a sweaty and cathartic house hole. on the flip, >lolipop< combines electro and house elements into one cheeky dance with the devil. bubbling bass flows under cascading melodic synth, as fat percussion crunches around sharp vocal bursts. slick and futuristic, this is for that time of the night where looking backwards is not an option.closing the ep, >unreality< is as deep as they come. warm and uncompromising key stabs pulsate over a no-nonsense bass drive, accented by harmonising clav tones. living up to its moniker, the resonant melodies and hypnotic pace conspire to transcendental effect.

sentidos opuedos as its names indicates go to explore the many fields of techno music. a1 >ama sonica< shoots to ears some groovy drums and a funky bass line, which take control of the soul while the hypnotic synthe-line gets in charge of the head. a2 >naked gravity< challenges to blow you mind into heaven. argenis points out his origin, delivering a song with a fat bassline and some typical south american rhythms that could easily bring you naked on a dance floor. b1 >yerbabuena< explores a more rhythmic section. this evolving tune starts from a simple bass shot to more complex patterns that deliver fury in crowded clubs as easily as to say >yerbabuuuuuuena< b2 >eimuu< is the psychedelic child of this ep. its groovy bass pushes you far somewhere in the deepness and the chords do the rest. dance, dance baby, its a sunny day! this 12inch is mixed by jay haze !!
