the much talked about love fever label is back with a hot new ep, this time from absolute with remixes from willian djoko. it follows big records from the likes of citizen, john daley and bicep and is another essential outing from this top label.

paskal & urban absolutes are celebrating the release of their debut album lux (released in november 2013) with a big bash, encompassing a special remix package and with an illustrious group of liked minded peers. same as with their own work credo of cross-city collaborating (paskal aka alex lives in berlin, urban absolutes aka adrian lives in essen) the twosome assembled half of germany for the first, now available 12inch of the lux remixes.
this is a joint venture of up and coming paskal & urban absolutes and house veterans henry l & ingo saenger. all 4 producers are connected by their penchant for deep and raw house music, while living quite far apart in berlin (b), düsseldorf (d), dortmund (d) and koeln (k). paskal & urban absolutes recently released on the highly respected sonar kolletiv label among others, whereas henry l and ingo sänger released on their own farside label and have been playing house music all life long. the 2 original tracks plus the 2 remixes are all sexy swingers! welcome to 2013!
ron carroll & (byron stingily) - two legends from the early house era. their voices have been an instantly recognizable signature on countless records from that time. these two heroes are back now with paskal & urban absolutes. the duesseldorf / berlin-duo has been busy in the studio for the last few months working on new tracks and remixes.
the loose series based on misunderstandings returns. after the last release in 2009 the series initiated by jazzanova dj alex barck based on his former club night at berlins weekend, we are now treated with its fourth installment.
the young record label foul & sunk from zurich and freiburg im breisgau leaves the winter behind with > still in love<, an ep from the producer-duo paskal & urban absolutes. alexander kastner and adrian hoffmann, the heads behind it, have both opened their hearts and fell in love: they fell in love with steady house grooves, based on a powerful bass foundation, in love with warm tones that convey sensuality, as well as sensitive vocal loops and fragile percussion.
after the excellent boris hottons >love is ep< it is time to present to you the second release of prague based label visky recordings! we would like to welcome warmly the two-men german project paskal & urban absolutes with their >our smile in your face ep< as a part of the new establishing visky family. a contribution to the ep has also been made by farsides henry l with his fabulous remix of the title track.
thomas bronzwaer has a recognizable sound that is immediately heard through his productions. a steady pumping beat, alayered and well build melody and capturing trance combined with proggy effects. titan, unlike his name might tell you, is more sensitive yet energetic enough to keep those bodies moving. if theres one producer suffering from identity problems, its got to be m.i.k.e. this belgian masterproducer has over 60 aliases and absolute is one of them. the powerfull trancers produced under this guise have been welcomed to the scenefrom the very beginning and are still going strong nowadays.
releasing his first album since 2012s >bring a friend< on soma, gary beck reconfirms his place in the techno hierarchy. featuring 12 tracks (2 of which are exclusively digital release only), gary showcases a multitude of studio skills, musical influences and styles. the release date is set for the 20th november on his own imprint - bek audio.
the whiskey pickle crew turn their attention to a new partnership from steve cobby and laurie welton, the former being known for decades of djing, label management and producing alongside the likes of stephen mallinder for throne of blood. here the emphasis, as expected with whiskey pickle, is on disco with a slight leaning to the left. -absolute- is a bubbling jam laden with illustrious threads of melody, cosmic in nature but still rooted thanks to a rock solid rhythm section. -limoncello- is a more introspective affair that works with minor chords and a more intricate set of drums, but don t be fooled the groove is very much still intact. new york duo whatever/whatever bring a tougher dynamic to -absolute,- dialing in some beefy beats and amping up the synth touches for a surefire house heater. played by
milan based collective just this are proud to present the ‘absolute infinity ep’, a joint release from netherlands-based producers sinfol and octual. featured in this package are two remixes from gerd janson prescribing a heavy dose of acid. title track is a stripped back groove with a looping synth lead that wanders through ricocheting drums. for his first remix gerd muffles the framework of the original, making room for a floating melody and warm lead, whilst the ‘acid only’ version takes the components of the original and throws them into a bath full of acid. closing off the ep is ‘wire’, a moody dancefloor cut for the after-hours.
-gold und liebe-, im original ende 1981 auf virgin records erschienen, war das vierte album der deutsch-amerikanischen freundschaft aka daf, produziert von conny plank in dessen legendärem studio bei köln. robert görl spielte alle instrumente ein, während
prolific producer mathis mootz is very well known within the drum/bass and hardcore techno arenas as being one of the innovative pioneers to merge both genres with an unique approach. his contribution to the electronic music community is not limited to his explorations within only the drum and bass and hardcore genres, mathis also has various experimental projects, most noteworthy being his m2 ( squaremeter ) project with releases on mille pleateux, ant-zen and hands productions. the sound of m2 is defined as a combination of micro sound and industrial soundscapes. the panacea is no stranger to the world of techno as some may suspect, his command of the position chrome record label came from his close relationship with force inc. music works which was one of the earliest german record labels to fuel the underground techno/rave scenes in the early 90’s. since position chrome came under his guidance in 1997 it has become one of the most important labels in electronic music due to it’s integrity and an impressive release of quality music for it’s genre. more recently, he has been investigating the techno landscape with david frisch together known as new frames, their latest release on hands productions is essential for those interested in contemporary electronic music of the dark techno/industrial kind. “ above the absolute “ is a 12’’ of mercenary techno produced with expert skill. the opening track “ above the absolute 96 “ is pure sound wave balance with all the components for what is sure to light any dance floor on fire. “ most basic resolution “ is a dark, mood shifting, hard acid techno reminder of what it means to create music for warehouses, pure old school for the hardcore. “ overdrive ee “ continues in a more contemporary direction and demonstrates a mastery of percussive elements in tune with the kind of atmosphere that brings people together in the dark. the final track “ walter “ goes back into the future with a track aimed at the headstrong, an exceptional closing chapter that hits dead centre on the search of the perfect beat. an overall completely impressive work from an artist who has set no limitations for himself.
after exploring georgian soundscapes, the intergalactic research institute for sound is honored to reissue stanislav tolkachevs blue mood. first released on aftertaste recordings in 2008, this masterpiece is in the institutes opinion one of the most impressive work of the ukrainian artist. for the occasion, stanislav created the artwork for the record in order to complement or maybe represent an idea behind the release. the institute plans to ask artists to deliver also a visual on top of their sound communication on the label. limited copies of blue mood will include a photography of tolkachev’s artwork. absolute limit, which finds itself on the b side, is a brand new track by tolkachev. as usual he delves deeper into abstract and distorted techno, delivering a truly mental cut.
portuguese techno star lewis fautzi returns to soma with another earth shattering release as he drops the molecular spasms ep. the young producer once again shows great depth and knowledge with 4 straight up dance floor killers all set together his unique, futuristic sound.
x-ray records catalogue is as under the radar as it is rich and ahead of its time. releasing between 1992 and 1994, most of the label s outputs were produced by raymond castoldi. although people primarily know castoldi for being the music director and organist in madison square garden, he also has a lesser known chapter of his life. in the early 1990s, raymond released 6 eps on his imprint x-ray records. by coupling his musical education with a four-on-the-floor club pattern, castoldi managed to create a jazzy vibe with spaceous sounds and keyboard jams, all coalescing into a relaxing atmosphere that would eventually become the signature sound of 90 s deep house. in partnership with castoldi, kalahari oyster cult delivers the goods once again: 11 tracks from the x-ray catalogue over a 3lp for your deejaying pleasure.
there’s not a lot to tell about the project glow in the dark by a certain harry miller. only perhaps we can state that with these eight tracks at hand harry miller accomplished probably the most enchanting album of the still quite young year. just when we wanted to dismiss the short-dated genre of chillwave wistfully, “future bliss” comes along with a bewitching sound hailing from an optimistic but cranky future. already the opening track “step one” with its vocal samples and its spoken word intro is futuristic soul full of affirmation of life pillowed on a synth bedding smoothed to the max up to its edges. but also the following seven tracks spread infectious positive vibes all around. the magic of glow in the dark’s tracks is energized mostly by miller’s delicate way of treating his various samples, a wary manner one usually only shows when picking up a guitar. and unlike sample based music feeding from hiphop his tracks are completely free from any sort of nostalgia, because all of his songs are designed for the future through and through. “future bliss” is one hell of a joy ride, from the first note to the last tone. the neon funk of “1987”, the broken beat of “7 billion = 1”, the synth pop of “the last dance” and in general, all of the eight tracks could be little, but great hymns on their own. but only in its entirety they sparkle this fathomless ingeniousness hidden in glow in the dark. in the end it seems to be wiser that one has as little background information as possible to be able to lose oneself fully in this “future bliss”.
this was mistakenly listed as being on random color vinyl. it is not. there is not and will not be any color vinyl. just black. azimuthal equidistant is a 3 track ep from hieroglyphic being & the configurative or modular me trio. the title track is a jackin phaser workout, while discotic compuserve is minimal bleep at its best and how far back is a contemplative lowbit riddim!
fifty first recordings was created in 1994 out of a small but very productive studio in london called state 51 using the down time and the very talented engineers who had been brought together for state 51 s existing clients. state 51 was the go to studio for the likes of x-press 2, sharp, amalgamation of soundz. the engineers we worked with included mark woolford, james brown, james reynolds & mark yardley. fifty first recordings soon found a name for itself and was very quickly at the forefront of the new generation of uk garage music. we produced and released music in the 90s, for over 7 years, with the likes of tuff jam etc. and later went to develop other imprints such as konnect / test press / unda vybe / spread love / tick etc., some in partnership with producers and managed artists.
