greek producer markos spanoudakis aka kreon has certainly made an impact on the electronic music scene.his percussive and jazz tipped sound has found its place through solo releases for labels such as cecille, robsoul and many more seminal underground imprints. his latest offering on serialism has been widely received by a small handfull of the scenes elite who have been dropping tracks from the ep all summer hualtor kicks of proceedings with delayed vocal stabs that roll over a 4x4 kick and a doubled up snare. the bass groove cleverly pitches up and down and is completed with a series of shuffled hi hats which complete this minimalistic winner. up next on a2 is forpsyche, which encomopasses a tough and rolling drum selection with swing added for good measure, a sub bass, warm pads and erratic lead stabs bring the all the elements together nicely. third track ‘valtera’ then keeps to kreons signature laid back grooves, shuffling drum licks and the use of processed vocal stabs, the track seamlessly rolls with a series of lo-fi glitches and pitch shifted chord stabs. finally forpyke rounds off the package as it rolls out a sure fire drum selection full of swing and stripped-back percussive hits, repetitive chord textures ebb and flow throughout the composition which results in a truly hypnotic and raw dance floor killer, with intricate percussion patterns that are packed full of swing.

the second record of athens based equivalence records comes from the labels co-owner and overall man of the hour, kreon. following in the steps of the first release, which has already been played by ricardo villalobos in fabric, 002 features two stripped down stompers, emanating analog warmth and hiss, while holding the groove and mystery throughout. groovy, low key, sub dub - perfect for those low ceiling places in the late early hours. early support by the usual suspects.

after 4 years of silence, kreon & lemos are back with their first release on their own imprint, equivalence. having already a number of collaborations on labels such as be chosen, resopal and we are, the duo finished a number of projects that are going to be released exclusively on equivalence. the first record offers two dancefloor oriented techno tracks with heavy low frequency, modulated delays and heavy filtering - a modern take on the duos past collaborations.

ultrastretch has returned for its second 12 inch of 2014, and its two tangled, tripping sides come from markos spanoudakis, aka kreon. a greek producer with a degree in electrical engineering and an early musical education in the form of his fathers epic record collection, kreon knows his way around mindbending, late-night grooves. he is charmed on labels like robsoul, cécille numbers and robsoul.

best things in life come as a surprise, so when we spontaneously decided to work on the re-edits and remixes for kreon and lemos greatest hits ep we did not know the result would be so perturbative. reedits by nhow nhow, basti grub & kreon himself dealing with the vocals and the result is awesome. you still dont know the original ? back in 2007 when everyone was still rattling the minimal bell resopal red released this ep with outstanding fusion house, jazz driven tracks. now as the label’s celebrating ten years anniversary in 2012 we thought its time for a reload. basti grub delivers an extremely hypnotic and groove-driven reedit, a house tunnel with no end, where the night becomes club. the other rework is done by our beloved nhow nhow, whose debut 12 on clap your hands label will be released soon. their unique style here is rawer, blending chicago house & techno for a full & shaky dance affair, fatty bass and a diabolic sense of groove, complete with all kinds of furious snippets. kreon himself delivers a quite reduced, back to basic twotwelve remix of the original and there is as well a remastered 2012 version of nice day.

our favorite guys from athens return to we are after some time, and with some super tight beats as well! fact of the matter is, that we for this one occasion chose to go with a full 12 inch instead of our standard club tracks 12 inch format simply because we needed all these three tracks to fit – good job! already passed the floor-test at many clubs and people are really feeling this superglued tightly produced rhythms mixed with old school disco house, they are held back and sneaky, and at the same time accesible and open to groove – just the way we like it!
