Having already racked up releases on Samurai, Symmetry and Ingredients, Villem now brings his unique sound to Med School. With support from everyone including Ulterior Motive, Flight, DJ Die, TC, Nu:Tone, Fracture, Foreign Concept, Total Science, A Sides, Bop and many more, Villem is a name you can expect to see a lot more of in the future. His “Shimmer” EP is a collection of stylishly crafted tracks that encapsulate the Med School ethos of innovative and progressive music, which the label has been championing for the past six years.
The title track “Shimmer” spearheads the release with symphonic splendour. Characterised by wonky hip-hop beats and glistening vocal whispers, this one offers the listener something special. Shimmying melodies dance around a multitude of bleeps, clicks, hums and whirrs for a truly mesmerising experience.
“Discordia” sees Villem bringing in his brother Fields for the flipside. Juxtaposing smooth harmonies with gritty basslines; sparkling SFX with growling subs and a hypnotic vocal, this one is at once unnerving and deeply moving.
