If it would not be so cold outside, the latest shot of INSISTMUSIC would become an instant party classic. What PING! from Thuringia have delivered this time at least definitely feels that way. The third edition of the Frankfurt based vinyl label presents an intelligent, groovy techno: predictable enough to entrain, diversified enough to pleasantly surprise. The opening track “Depature” marches across the dance floor, picking up the playful dancers with its funky offbeat elements in the beginning and taking them on an ecstatic journey with its cleverly placed breaks. In the remix by label mate Sascha SONIDO “Depature” catches a touch of tribal techno moving the track with its vocals like rolling sound figures a good bit further into the house cosmos. And there “Depature” wonderfully feels at home, too. “Steady State Universe", the second composition from PING! takes the listener on a more dignified journey than “Depature". Jazz sound figures combine the elements of electronic music with a hypnotic beat that is looming its way from the ears down to the dancing feet on its path through the body. PING! shows with “Steady StateUniverse” that four-to-the-floor does not always have to be head-on. This is also seen in the Justin Berkovi remix that on the one hand never loses sight of the starting materials jazzy idea, but on the other focuses more and directly on the dance floor. While the dancers are floating through the cosmos in the original “Steady State Universe” getting slowly hypnotized by the beat, Justin Berkovi lays more focus on the obviousness of the rhythm in his interpretation. This one is definitely a number for the prime time. Those who do not buy INSIST 003 vinyl, but rather download the digital version, will also have the pleasure of getting “Caldera” - a monumental work of pings and pongs mixed with rolling beats, a swirling bass line and an epic break.
