It’s difficult to describe the feeling when you know you’ve heard something that eclipses the mighty Mr Bird & Greg Blackman’s Ramrock Blue modern soul 12” classic ‘Over Again’ featuring the now legendary Tom Moulton remix. There are three versions of ‘Where Did The Party Go’ - on the A side is the funky Lo-Fi Classics original, taken from the album of the same name, produced & co-written by Steven Bird and delivered with gritty, Muscle Shoals confidence by Greg Blackman. This version garnered mass plaudits from the soul cognoscenti – both DJs and radio presenters alike - on its first outing on the BBE label in July 2014. Flipping the vinyl over, Ashley Beedle, Jo Wallace and Darren Morris deliver the two North Street remixes; the BPM has been dropped and as the 90’s RnB/steppers vibe kicks in, Mr Morris’s keyboards underpin the majesty of Greg Blackman’s vocal delivery – utterly sublime. No wonder Mi-Soul are already championing the ‘North Street’ Remix as their Record of The Week w/c March 13th 2017. On the final version, Greg’s vocals are laid bare on The ‘Stripped Back’ remix - your soul will soar and you’ll remember the moment for a long time – savour it.
