Fresh after the release of their debut album on Simple, the second Motorcitysoul EP in quick succession is as accomplished as we have come to expect from the Frankfurt deep house duo Matthias Vogt and C - Rock.

Featuring the album version of percussive cut .Hatohay’ as well as two remixes from Manuel Tur & Dplay and Move D, this EP also offers a lean adaptation of .Solar’ as the perfect DJ tool. Known for their marriage of modern house and Detroit rooted techno, young Essen natives Manuel Tur & Dplay have been busy of late, releasing a stream of singles on Compost, Freerange and Drumpoet Community in the last year alone. Source Records label head and cult techno producer Move D has released on Warp, Compost & City Centre Offices to name but a few. Fresh off the back of his latest studio album .Songs From The Beehive’ (Smallville), his classic techno perspective on .Hatohay’ is a privilege to behold. Layers of specially recorded live percussion give ‘Hatohay’ an intense rhythmic energy, with crazy fx and pitch shifting on the percussion pushing the arrangement to heady peaks. .Hatohay (Manuel Tur & Dplay Remix)’ sees Manuel and Dplay strip back the percussion but retain the organic feel of the original whilst taking their mix in a much deeper direction. Warmth and beauty emanate from every sound and the careful use of space to allow for detail to shine through is a rare skill that the duo have clearly mastered. .Solar Basic’ offers stripped back house version of one of the ambient tracks from the album. A squelchy, insistent acid line and tough swinging drums are added to blissed out Rhodes chords to lend the required urgency needed to work the floor. Finally, in .Hatohay (Move D Remix)’, Move D adds his own wistful melody and delicate chord sequence to the percussion heavy groove of the original and in doing so perfectly captures his signature sound.
