Following on from his works on the likes of Kindisch, Highgrade and Mute Records, Breathe is another worthy addition to the Ovum roster, following on from recent bombs on the label from the likes of Vince Watson, MANIK and head honcho Josh himself. The title cut takes its time, sensually offering swathes of lush of sub bass, chiming, echoing melodies and deep aesthetics, to create a slow-burning, heart warming track that entices and uplifts throughout its sexy, seductive groove. ‘Cloaked Mix’ - with its minimal, tick tock rhytym - strips back the emotive sub bass completely, leaving a snarling, industrial edged groove, echoing out the beats and percussion into a vast plain of dynamic space. Two tracks for differing moods, each tailored toward the more emotive side of the dance-floor. On the flip, Israeli tech house hero Shlomi Aber delivers his interpretation of Breathe, a balls to the wall, no nonsense techno blast, it’s staunch and unrelenting kick drum setting the pace from the off. Industrial swooshes, fader jabs and crackling, exploding 4th beats evoke memories of late nights, spent in the darkest corners of club land. Finally, Hoo’s ‘561595′ draws the EP to a close, a life giving, spine tingling track that nods to ambient trip hop, a soothing plain of heartbeat drums, piano chords and melancholic melodies bring the EP to a blissful, yearning close as Hoo demonstrates another side to his ever impressive cannon of work.
