[20.01.2012] Sometime in 2005. a lone box of master tapes escaped an estate sale and made its way through a network of collectors. record dealers. and junkers into the hands of leading Ohio soul expert Dante Carfagna. Dante identified the tapes as a clutch of lost masters related to Columbus. Ohio s mysterious Prix label. an imprint already being considered for its slot among The Numero Group s flagship Eccentric Soul series. Thediscovery of those tapes - containing finished but unissued masters and a batch of raw demo tracks - offered the ongoing Prix project a jolting shot in the arm. A bit of research turned up Prix label owner George Beter. and combining Beter s input with that of the few Prix artists and songwriters still around. most of this generally unlabeled material was identified. All it took was an endless series of phone calls and letters and two fields trips in Columbus.

[28.12.2011] Earth. Wind & Fires classic period is considered to be 1973 - 1980. During these 8 years. the band was on a hit-making streak! Albums and singles went to the top rankings of worldwide charts and the band toured successfully with Santana (a.o.) on both sides of the Atlantic.
This double LP >Gratitude< captures that winning mood and consists mostly of live concert material from their 1974 and 1975 tours. It stayed at number one on both pop and R&B charts for several weeks. It is augmented by a couple of studio recordings.
On Music on Vinyl. we present the original 13-song version (plus interludes) of the album in Remastered Audio. in a Gatefold sleeve. As usual. the vinyl pressing is 180 grams audiophile quality.

[27.12.2011] >I Heard It Through the Grapevine< is the ninth solo studio album by soul legend Marvin Gaye. released in 1968 on the Motown-subsidiary label Tamla Records. Originally the record was released as >In the Groove<.
During the recording of what would become Gayes biggest-selling and signature single of his career. >I Heard It Through the Grapevine<. there was a lot of arguing going on between Norman Whitfield and Gaye over the sessions of >Grapevine<. In the end Whitfield was able to get what he wanted from Gaye. and the duo started a collaboration that lasted into the beginning of 1970.
When the song >I Heard It Through the Grapevine< became one of the biggest hits of 1968. Motown re-released the LP as >I Heard It Through the Grapevine<. The album and its title track are both considered as Gayes commercial breakthrough.
