wild oats is proud to present the kmfh debut album the boat party. after a year of collaborative releases, kyle hall, under the alias kmfh, has produced a debut album, a fusion of original work, sample tracks, and raw edits. the boat party album artwork pokes fun at european summer boat parties and juxtaposes the destitute state of detroit and its recent proneness to discarded luxury in financial crises. mainly, the inability to leave and the sometimes pleasant isolation of a boat party is what the album exudes. the listener has a certain commitment to the material which definitely has its place on the dance floor. you can find tracks that have soulful, funky, and organic feels, while others have a more abstract, mechanical, and robotic sentiments. the boat party was carefully constructed which makes the album a cohesive mix of soulful etherealness and roughly raw sounds, kmfhs cueing into the true aspects of detroit.

there has been much speculation about the significance of the mayan system of timekeeping. many researchers on the subject have verified that the mayan long count calendar, which is only one of several advanced timekeeping tools devised by the mayan people, comes to an end on december 21, 2012, with no real clear explanation as to what exactly that signifies. this musical offering is not meant to speculate on the meaning of this date. instead, it serves as a tribute to one of the most astronomically, mathematically and architecturally advanced civilizations in the history of planet earth. each track is a tribute to one of the many mayan spiritual sites known to date.

the inspiration for this ep came from a trip the two producers took to zug island- a polluted toxic metal factory isle on the detroit river between detroit and windsor, canada. the sounds within this record are intended to sonically personify the environment of zug island and the harmful impact it currently has on the river, wild life,and humans residing there!

wonderful release by kyle hall on his new detroit based label wild oats. masterpiece 4 track ep, each track divine and unique in its own way. hot jazzy kyle hall fashioned deephouse that can serve a lounge and at the same time bang even harder on a dancefloor. kyle halls experimentalist off beat antics meets smooth jazz would be a way to describe the sound. poly rhythms everywhere but at the same time a cohesive groovy soulful feel. overall this ep is a must buy for anyone who is for the future of the electronic music genre and enjoys quality.

contemporary house merged with space-age jazz & broken beat from copenhagen newcomer nejrup on debut release manda backed by a uniquely off-kilter remix from london soul stalwart k15 (eglo / wild oats) manda is a selection of intricate compositions for the dancefloor with a jazz centered approach to combining dance grooves with modular soundscapes & live instrumentation. for nejrup, a self-learned synthhacker, pianist and producer from copenhagen, his debut manda is a result of years of experimentation and never-ending practice and noodling on his fender rhodes & homebuilt synth collection. delivering a compositional complexity influenced by radiohead and floating points, while letting his tunes simmer with airy synths and improvised live instrumentation combined with a love for depthful harmonies. k15 backs the release with a soothing, heavily syncopated remix, as only he could do it. the londoner, whose soulful touch and ear for melody has earned him high status in the jazz encompassing house- and broken beat circuit, through kyle hall’s ‘wild oats’ and alexander nut’s ‘eglo records’ and as center of the culross close outfit.

k15 returns to wotnot after more killer releases on eglo & wild oats, a collaboration with henry wu, and remixes for nubya garcia, colm k (on tiffs joints) and wotnot s own william florelle, not to mention the beautiful record earlier this year under his culross close alias. we re all creative but somehow, being creative has become a class within itself, often defined and measured by the whims of popular culture and monetary gain, which leads us to devalue what we create if we are not successful by those metrics. we are all creative, we all use our experience, talent and feeling to shape and we should be glad we create anything. this ep holds onto this mantra tightly throughout, reflecting both the meditative and joyful effects of unimpeded creativity. the title track begins with k15s signature introspection, deep washes of jazz-inflected textures before exploding into a rapturous syncopated synth groove. b1 communion explores the spiritual angle with a devotional piano cadence over bouncing drum pattern, with interlocking bass and synth rhythms adding to the hypnotic mood. wrapping up the release is a warm, deep-soak hip hop instrumental titled you re alive (theres still time), a message to self but also a beacon of hope to those who have maybe not created as much as they would have liked, or have strayed from the path the intended to take.

here again another japanese artist does his debut release on bosconi extra virgin, daisuke kondo from okayama drops a delicious 4 tracks ep featuring a special reinterpretation from italian duo nas1, not new to the bosconi fam, who also appeared on wild oats and more recently released on berlin label money sex. -roof dancer ep- starts with the subtle and hypnotic house jam of -everybody-, a groovy and bouncey deep house track enriched with funky elements and delayed keys going all along the track, in real daisuke s trademarked style.on a side second cut there s the -roof dancer- tune who gives the title to the ep, a funky and extra warm broken beat jam dense of organic latin percussions and jazzy vibes..and it feels like a real band jamming on a beach! nas1 rework for -exit- opens the b side with a pumping, tribalish and unconventional freestyle jazz-house jam for your freaked out moments on the floor or even a -stand up!- track for your opening sets, something for theo s fan..the ep ends with the chuggy beat of -passion-, a track which reminds some of best moodymann s classic atmospheres or even those soulful loungey tunes from the late 90 s. tasteful beats for your summer!

we re really excited to be able to put one of our favourite ever wotnot releases to wax. it s a release that makes us particularly proud as we convinced k15 to let one of his house tracks out of the archive for the first time ever, as well as securing one of the few tracks to have been heard from up-and-coming wunderkind glenn kelly (jeeks), before he retired early from the circuit. four years after it dropped digitally, featured artists k15 and imyrmind have become household names, releasing music with eglo, wild oats, tartelet and money $ex records among others. this re-release also includes a new track from sexruleseverything who also featured on the original release. the tracks on this ep still stand strong, and the vinyl drops alongside the release of dancefloor sweets vol. 2, with more to come in 2017.

detroit native mgun aka manuel gonzales returns from a two year break from releasing to unveil his debut lp for don t be afraid. marking the uk-based labels first artist album (dbalp001), gentium follows a string of highly acclaimed releases on labels also including the trilogy tapes, wild oats, third ear, bakk, berceuse heroique and fit.

no room for air is the sister label to wild oats offering a fresh take on the soulful side of our interests exclusively in 7inch format. in hopes to explore different aspects of music, nrfa was created to showcase our favorite genre-defying artists in tandem with wild oats.

:-crimini- is a new independent label born from the experience of some members of the mighty kitchentstudio3, based in bologna italy. the first release contains on the first side three track by nas1 duo. the young duo work at the kitchenstudio3 since 2011, where they produced a lot of good stuff, including a track featuring kyle hall (released by wild oats music), their debut ep on bosconi records, two tracks released by nick anthony simoncino s hotmix records, and many other cool works. on the other side there is a power track, spinning at 45 tmp, produced by the mysterious grienkho, appeared on pushmaster records and austerity, and kosmik, legendary record collector from south of italy.

after absolutely killin it for sound signature, ndatl, wild oats, and apron, jay daniel launches his own label, watusi high. coming in hot from the detroit scene, he expertly combines synths and samples he takes a jump on that special detroit sound concurrently funky and mind melting.

following 12 inches on the trilogy tapes and kyle halls wild oats imprint, the original dark soldier mgun returns to dont be afraid for a second outing with this six tracker. from start to finish you get the now familiar trademark mgun sound all over this ep, from the spit and sawdust electro of funnel vision to the deadly 313 dystopia of bean chirp.

mgun is the pseudonym of rising detroit star manuel gonzales. since collaborating with kyle hall as nsnt prjct in 2010, gonzales has developed a uniquely lo-fi sound all of his own, a sound first showcased on his debut solo release which appeared in 2012 on the wild oats imprint. his first release for don’t be afraid will hit stores in october 2012 and is bound to spin heads, demonstrating as it does his particular avant garde take on modern techno, not least the game changing ‘gas chamber’ cut which, at 138 bpm, sounds as at home in bow e3 london as it does in his native detroit.
