nice price deal !!! this is the first remix that todd rundgren has ever done for another artist. this is at least what rundgren nerds/experts have told us. anyway, we are of course extremely proud to put this wonderful music on wax. todd rungren has been a big inspiration for lindstrom, so this is a dream come through. also lindstrom has made an extended disco version of quiet place to live exclusive for this 12 inch.

we have had a good run of 12 inches this year starting off with todd terjes >inspector norse< followed by bjørn torske (remixed by dj harvey and todd terje), lindstrøm (remixed by todd rundgren) and idjut boys great >one for kenny<. and now we continue with a great summer tune and one of our favorite tracks of the year, mungolian jetsets brand new >smells like gasoline<. already a todd terje favorite, the track will be featured on mungolian jetsets upcoming album >mungodelics< due 20th of august (todd terje has also edited the cd version of the album). on the b side we have 2 remixes of >we are the shining< from last years >schlungs< album by dan lissvik of studio fame as well as skatebaard.

wave turned out to be the last album the patti smith group would record, as it was also last album smith would record before a nine year hiatus. the godmother of punk decided to focus on her family life and moved to michigan, but not before leaving us with gems like the sexually mysterious >dancing barefoot< (dedicated to her husband to be fred sonic smith) and her amazing, biting version of >so you want to be (a rock n roll star)<. produced by todd rundgren, this is her most pop-oriented album, and many at the time could not appreciate her more accessible sound. nevertheless, wave, her spoken word tribute to pope john paul i (who reigned for only 33 days) is as touching and harrowing now as when it came out in 1979. available on vinyl for the first time since its original release!
