ayuune sule brings the soul into kologo power. in kumasi, the second city of ghana and capitol of the ashanti region, ayuune sule is the main kologo star. the most famous kologo player these days in the whole of ghana and abroad is king ayisoba. together with king ayisoba, guy one, atongo zimba and sambo, he represents the generation that broke kologo music outside of the north east region of ghana. in europe we know ayuune sule as a member of king ayisoba’s band and as a solo artist who often opens up for his shows.

genosha basic artists, ghost in the machine make their perc trax debut! full picture sleeve perc trax returns to the dance floor after the political firestorm that was perc s bitter music with the debut release on the label from the netherland s ghost in the machine. the perc and therefore perc trax name stems from the word percussion and these three drum-focused tracks sum up the label s name perfectly. rarely appearing away from their own genosha basic imprint this ep hits as hard as anything on perc trax in recent years and along with recent releases from ansome and scalameriya ushers in a new wave of artists and a distinct new chapter in the perc trax story. the holy grill commands the whole of the a-side and charges forward until a reese led breakdown gives you a moment to pause for breath. the b-side contains two percussive workouts that have enough movement and development to them to elevate them above simple drum tools. as b2 track pskdt s locked groove loops endlessly (a first for perc trax), it is clear this ep is a hard-hitting statement of intent from a duo you should be hearing a lot more on perc trax in the near future.

volume one delivers four unrelenting groovers, individually flavoured, each artist brings something fresh to this overall consistent collection of tracks. intricately complex in their creation, yet ultimately these tracks perform a simple task, much like the machines of the late r. goldberg.

the sound of studio one can be identified by the great singers that it cultivated along the many great songs that these singers released. but as studio 1 s dominance was slowly pulled away by the up and coming new breed of producers many of the artists would inevitably end up working for these new camps and so the songs and singers found a new audience. the reggae sound of the studio 1 would make a great combination and the man to pull this was together bunny lee.

the content label presents a dynamic new split ep from lex (de kalhex) and dday one, titled parallel presence. the eps title reveals some clues: parallel refers to something similar to another, while presence imagines a thing that exists but is not seen. these two producers, as kindred spirits, strive to work on this deeper level. parallel presence is an expressive step forward, presenting intricate beats, thoughtful samples, and otherworldly vibes colluding towards a mesmerizing whole.

this double-pack cymbolic originally came out in 1995 and found favour with electronic music fans who sought a deeper edge in their music. it s all here, the trademark drum programming, the epic sense that all of the burden bros productions have within them. this is dancefloor music, music for dj s to utilise, tools, but tools with the deepest soul imaginable. listen to terraforming or the symbiont - perfect examples of driving, almost tribal-esque rhythms fused with strings, synth pads and human feeling. cymbolic is for you if you re a fan of detroit techno, but it s also for those who enjoy the deepest electronic sounds. that s not to say it isn t funky though, these tracks will decimate most dance-floors, and therein lies the secret. essential

it really feels like we (aka mad mats & tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with local talk, but it s really true what they say, time flies when you re having fun! from what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. we really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the local talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. from our very first release with bassfort s excellent moon shadow in the summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what local talk should represent... house music in any way, shape or form! over the years we released soulful, disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, uk, berlin, new jersey, detroit and of course chicago inspired house music. if it made us bump...we put it out! this brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. we thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of blaze s classic album 25 years later popped up. besides the fact that it s an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. it s not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. this fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we ve tried to capture on our 5 1/2 years later compilation, split into two parts. on part 1 you ll find a dark bassline driven house jam from art of tones (check the mad sax!), a proper deep journey jam from nyc s dj spinna, a blaze homage with that classic new jersey sound from sean mccabe, and a bumpy world/jazz inspired cut straight outta brescia from wonder kid corrado bucci. all in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...local talk style!

paula chalup is one of the most important figures of the underground brazilian electronic scene, and has been at the epicentre of each of the revolutions throughout these almost 20 years down the road. in a musical symbiosis with producer and multi - instrumentalist lucas parisi, a member of sao paulo laptop orchestra an experimental electronic music project, which was presented at the virada cultural in 2011 and file (international festival of electronic language). together they form the iao yoruba word that stand for initiate. building soundscapes that lead to a spiritual journey.

jake one’s discography reads like a who’s who list of some of the greatest and most successful artists in the history of hip hop. that’s what makes him truly unique. blurring the lines between the underground and overground. providing sonic backdrops for such incredible emcees as de la soul, scarface, freeway, mf doom, evidence, casual, elzhi, brother ali, and rakim among others, but polishing that same formula and providing records for the likes of drake, rick ross, t.i., 50 cent, snoop dogg, j cole, wale, dom kennedy, and royce 5’9”, jake one is one of the exceptions that has worked equally with both of these sides of the industry. exceptionally. “prayer hands”, a collection of instrumentals created from gospel sources, includes some of those recordings amongst others that all remind you that jake one has pretty much become the go-to producer for any major artist that wants some real hip hop shit on their album. and understandably so.

‘temporary insanity remixes’ is a 12” featuring the redefinitions of the two original productions of detroit veteran terrence dixon, turned upside down by three of the most groundbreaking electronic music artists as voiski, pangaea and cosmin trg, appearing alongside label head simone gatto. out022 operates as a modern take of old school sounds, an hybrid union of all melodic techno sub forms – these remixes keep the mental locked groove material of dixon’s tracks, adding emotionally irradiating patterns and each producer’s typical paths.

classic 430 west compilation from 1995. detroit techno city! originally spread over 2 samplers it contained some of the burrell bros (under several guises) best work all featured here. the original releases also contained tracks from alien fm (aux 88) and unknown force, however, the rights to these tracks have now gone back to the original artists. still you have 5 absolutely killer golden age detroit techno tracks to chose from!

edit & dub record tokyo presents tee scott unreleased. these cuts were championed by larry levan at paradise garage. the well known sergio mendes “i’ll tell you” unheard extended version & the abstract tee scott “diamond dub” surely never existed until now. super limited, only available now!

by now we know the exaltics stand for high quality advanced deep space electro techno after their great trilogy on clone records and most recently their great retrospective album -the truth 2008 - 2013-on their own solar one music. as a follow up on that album they invited an impressive line up of remixers to work on some of their album tracks! e.r.p. , gosub, dopplereffekt, objekt, and ultradyne: these heavyweights and legendary artists have written some of the most important pages of the electro / techno history. a dream come true for the exaltics and a heavy weight and highly desirable collection of electro techno on solar one music! highly recommended!

during 1993 and 1994, between shifts at selectadisc, blagging studio time from diy and looking for a new girlfriend, nail spent time at home with some borrowed equipment a tr-808, tb-303, boss delay pedal and a knackered spring reverb, plus his own korg ms10. recording live & straight to cassette, these acid-soaked sessions were given the name sentipede, after a friend at the time saying one of the tracks made them feel like they were being eaten alive by a giant creepy-crawly with lots of legs. selected from four d90 cassettes full of tracks, 99:wave presents the imaginatively titled one, with just 8 tracks over two slabs of grey vinyl.

it is time to release a solo joint from the prized camelphat, who joined the jeudi family some time ago. with their primetime bombs animal & love 4 the d.o.g.g, camelphat proved they know how to work the floor and their beautiful interpretation of stevie wonders cherie amour is still keeping us warm on these cold nights. now the two camels are back with a full three track ep for jeudi records showcasing, once again, their extraordinary talent for warm bass lines and big melodies.

a bold move to cover a daft punk record? perhaps but off msg and vocalist hadi create a respectful update of the oft overlooked romanthony penned finale to daft punks second album. too long is one side of vinyl and 6 minutes of classic infectious house music as uncomplicated as it is effective. sounding not unlike an early marshall jefferson / jungle wonz record. hadis vocal leads the way, underpinned by loose house beats, live tambourine, a when house was discos little brother bass line and analogue disco stabs that punctuate the space. strictly limited to 500 hand stickered, stamped and numbered with no repress. these will not hang around mastered by original two lone swordsman mr keith tenniswood.
