as we enter into our 3rd year of running pathway traxx, we wanted to raise the bar both musically and artistically and this ep certainly delivers that. dj w!ld has always been a personal favorite of ours we were over the moon when he signed with us. fresh of the back of his 2014 album, when you feel me on his own the w label, this guy is arguably in the form of his life! with an expansive discography backing up his formidable djing skills, the accolades he is receiving now are simply long-overdue recognition for one of france s long-serving underground house heroes.

the groovers sound is the result of a lot of late nights, forged and crafted with utter devotion to creating a unique sound. all our influences were bought into the studio and from the tension between a love and knowledge of various musical styles and modes, of temperament and personality we found that it clicked. the result of this collaboration between finn campbell-notman and steve ferrand is ten track collection of songs from slow to mid to house tempos. each time we worked on a track or song we asked ourselves >is this a groovers track< and the only criteria in deciding if it was was >does it feel like one or not< this feel that we were searching for is: that bittersweet, syncopated and soulful one that we both love regardless of genre. our influences range from deep deep dancefloor house, early downtempo, latin soul, boogie, southern funk, and shimmering techno

standard pressing on black double vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve with download code included. ryan lee west aka rival consoles presents his expressive new album �persona�, set for release via erased tapes. the title �persona� was inspired by ingmar bergman�s film of the same name, specifically a shot in the opening credits of a child reaching out to touch a woman�s face on a screen, which is shifting between one face and another. this powerful image struck ryan and it inspired the album�s main theme � an exploration of the persona, the difference between how we see ourselves and how others see us, the spaces in between, between states, people, light and dark, the inner persona and the outer persona.

grego after all�s underthesea is back with an ep by the polish artist eltron, who has been a big supporter of the label�s vision since the beginning, headlining its inaugural party and contributing to its podcast series. �le volte� is his first release for the label, including three original cuts and a remix by the canadian producer basic soul unit. eltron is probably best known for his quirky, playful, driving house sound with roots in disco, as illustrated in his productions here. the narrative of �le volte� starts with �la prima�, full of anticipation and discovery as we set out to explore a new oceanic territory. once the clock strikes two, we find ourselves in a sub-aquatic discotheque with �un�altra�, dancing to the rhythm of classic chords revisited with a contemporary touch. meanwhile, �l�ultima� represents a voyeuristic peek into the world of seductive mermen. finally, when basic soul unit gets his hands on �la prima�, he transforms the track with complex drum patterns and whirlwind pads with a sense of empowerment to conquer the mood of any dancefloor.

a little over six years ago, let s play house because, in earnest, with a 12-inch called indoor pool. fittingly, the track it revolved around was by runaway, the duo comprised of marcos cabral and jacques renault, and featured remixes by some tight friends of the imprint, beautiful swimmers, slow hands, and soft rocks. we thought it d be fun to celebrate our birthday for once, but not with something too obvious (e.g. a compilation) or too involved (e.g. a warehouse party blowout). what we came up with is this, a 10-inch that reflects a little of the past into the present. appropriately, it includes edits by two of the artists on that debut ep. runaway s is a dusted-off and remixed secret weapon from the act s early days while soft rock s is classic soft rocks, albeit from a more current vintage (it was recorded this year). both absolutely rock. a little twisted, a little tilted, a little tipsy, but, as always, tight and tidy. funny how, since 2009, everything has changed and nothing has changed at all for this label of ours.

�ourselves is entering the third round. but what can one expect from a house label? with the v/a homelike, you committ yourself to the mission of house music in all its various manifestations and take it to the floor. kicking off the ride is sello s �loop my ass�. soulful vocals driven by massive kicks, string sounds and heavy bass. simply timeless. what else could you want? jan ketel & siggatunez pick up the pace with �today is the past of tomorrow�. analog basslines and deep chords shake hands with shuffling hihats. no big hoo-ha. the focus is simply on groove and atmosphere. the boys from rose records, m.ono & luvless, are making their debut on ourselves with house music par excellence. funky and floating, the �walnut express� keeps pushing through your speakers announcing party. lootbeg s �remembrin� perfectly rounds up the release and lets you fly away. hovering pads seemlessly interwoven with arp sounds and classical drums telling you that house is your home, simply homelike!�

vlad dinu opens mihai bravu s 1st release starting the audio journey with deep in my house, a track that occupies the entire a side, just like a proper tool should. as the name of the track hints, we find ourselves submerged in deep territory: a tight and groovy bass line, laced with a steady percussion, sprinkled with some 16bit arcade reminiscent accents and soothing intermingled vocal cuts. the deep vibe is crafty perpetuated by several synths at play, which together combine in such a way to add a wide atmospheric feel to the composition. definitely deep in my house sounds and feels more like of a 90�s tune, and while listening to it, one could easily find himself drift into the nostalgia of the good old days.
side b goes even deeper with two tracks defined by the notion of head tracks. gun zah continues the storyline with twisty percussive rhythms and a groovy atmosphere, tailored into a bangin floor choon while questions answered submerges the listener into layers of groovy basslines, swifty percs and milky synths, all put together into the form of a most alive track.

marathons began innocently, as a quick debut ep by an energetic swedish duo we found on soundcloud. within a couple months of chatting with the pair, artur bra&#776,,ndstrom and egil kahlbom, however, we realized our collaboration wasn t going to be simple, so cut and dry, so straightforward, and that s why we find ourselves here, a year after meeting them with a full album, not an in-and-out single, on our hands. what made it complex and intricate, you ask? why d we opt to squeeze eight originals into one long-player, you wonder? well, artur and egil are prolific dudes with fantastic ears and formidable work ethics. a couple of demos quickly sprouted offspring and became four, then six, then ten. rather than fight the arbitrary desire to trim the spread down to a 12inch, we figured we d aim higher and work on a proper album. what we constructed is, in a very classic sense, a long-player. here s that album! it s a sunny, loose, limber, uninhibited boogie through warm disco cuts and wobbly house jams and soulful funk slices. daytime chill-out with a nightclub architecture�or peak hour mayhem with a bright, clearheaded euphoria. marathons swings every which way and suits any mood, so drop that needle and try it on. then repeat, repeat, repeat.

ive been involved in two or three major genres that are very different from each other, says vaughn robert squire from canada, better known as prison garde, who is making his true romance debut with our trep009. about his melody ep, he says: its gospel-influenced house stuff. its in line with the last couple records that i put out, but i feel like its a little more mature and that the quality of the recording is a lot higher than anything else ive done as prison garde. i recorded it at the phi centre in montreal - its a beautiful cultural center in the old port. ango and i locked ourselves in there and did a live record on an ssl in a big room.

the idea behind lbl is very simple. we keep getting sent music that we really want to own on vinyl, so weve decided to start pressing these tracks ourselves. everything we have scheduled has a club feel, but past that we think youd be hard pushed to pinpoint a specific style which dominates our releases. for our first release we have music from scott fraser (crimes of the future), people get real (join our club), jamie blanco (ess o ess) and joonipah (nixwax). we could list a whole load of meaningless genres to describe the music to you (machine house, neu acid, bashment techno and hi tek soca) but we think its best you just listen and make your own mind up. currently, all lbl releases will be limited to a pressing run of 300 copies

wow how time has flown by.. it was almost a year ago to the day that the concept of pathway traxx was born, and we now find ourselves charging full steam ahead into our 3rd release.

as the rumors tell, this obscure piece of music was arranged by three acquaintances, who, by mere coincidence, formed a spontaneous, poly-toxic think tank one marvellous sunday morning, celebrating the beauty of old house music, while at the same time mocking the somehow cheap and predictable functionality of the four to the floor sound design. to honor the inspirational value of situations like these, the decision was made to share the result with a bigger audience. as a meta text, the lyrics form a tongue in cheek comment on nostalgic good old days aesthetics, and are simultaneously, and quite paradoxically, reminiscent of the utopian and transgressive vision of early house and techno music. if there is anything that we can retrieve from this vision today, it is the encouragement to create funny, pleasant and playful situations for ourselves and the like-minded, escaping the seriousness and boredom of the professionalized party and music business. and this is exactly the spirit, which is materialized on this piece of wax.

who is noa siano: a face in the crowd, or a ghost in the shadows? we dont know ourselves, but this intriguing newcomer has an affinity for deep soulful house that has the spirit of what house music is all about leaking from every orifice.

we have never done a project like this before where the artists choose all the remixers themselves. but for the crazy italoboyz album >bla bla bla< we found ourselves not really knowing what to do. so instead of forcing our own ideas for remixers we went back to the source and let the artists run wild on the a&r. marco and fede commissioned all the remixers themselves. the producers they chose are a very diverse bunch and the vinyl 12inch takes a sampling of the best material from two very big underground names. on the a-side das kraus duo turn it a super jackin yet also very haunting rendition of >oh mio dio.< it sounds like pitched up chicago house meets demon days. on the b-side old school master dandy jack turns in one of the oddest records ever on mothership with some unusual sound design, voices and semi-dischordant note runs. super weird for the super weird! whatever you think of this odd lot no one can deny these remixes definitely carry the indistinguishable mark of that ever so quirky duo, the italoboyz

long-time london based friends and regular collaborators ethyl & flori have been foraying between the blurred lines of house and techno with releases on labels like secretsundaze, aim and fear of flying for the last 6 years - and with a glowing reputation under their belt, 2015 saw the duo launch their own imprint e&f records. this time however, their most recent venture is a release with london label mutual friend recordings and combines the duos talent with enigmatic label owners and friends of ours london party curators our mutual friend, their solo ep on brooklyns voodoo down records earlier this year was tipped by such luminaries as levon vincent and dj october.

the musical connection between berlin and detroit has always been a very strong and inspring one. jazzanova continues this close dialogue by putting mike huckaby in charge of remixing their latest song i human. huckaby is one of the unsung heroes of detroit techno. with his highly acclaimed deep house productions and remixes for deepchord, juan atkins, vladislav delay, pole, loco dice, losoul, and pacou, (just to name a few) he is more than well respected in the citys underground community and way beyond. his remix for jazzanovas latest track (off the brilliant album funkhaus studio sessions) split into two pieces on this 10inch, is a belter by all means. if you wouldnt know better,youd mistake it for a larry heard/mr. fingers production. still huckaby is putting his very own distinctive touch to this rework: a groovy rhythm section is added for extra emphasis on the dancefloor.and as the track builds we find ourselves in deep house heaven screaming for more. you better order two copies of this limited 10inch, in order to seamlessly mix part 1 intopart 2 - or vice versa

whilst its neighbour has always taken the plaudits on the party front the steely city of sheffield has its own house history, with much of it residing in the warm buzzing darkness of the studio. its here that we find our latest robsoul rookie. a fresh name for the label, but a producer who is far from new to the game. tommy vicari jnr�s first release was pressed to the black gold and released back in 2004. since then there have been sporadic outings, but the last two years have seen a reinvigorated tommy roll out over ten new releases and play a huge part in putting sheffield s house music firmly back on the map. threshold of eternity sees tommy drop the northern grit to replace it with shimmering warmth and sunshine vibes across all four tracks. fidgeting rhythms, chopped samples and groove-heavy beats and bass are spliced together to create an essential feel-good release.

originally hailing from slovakia but now based out of berlin just_me has been slowly making waves on the underground having previously released for baile music, 1trax and act natural respectively, as well remixing alongside the likes of hector, laura jones and the great todd terry. not a label to pigeon hole ourselves to any one genre or style of house or techno we are constantly looking to push the boundaries on the music we release with the pattern ep we have done just that! as just_me brings us two original deep, stripped back and dubbed out cuts adding some atmospheric and acidic tinges along the way. on the remix duties we have two very capable artists first up is cocoon s martinez who has shown us his new deeper side with an altogether tougher but minimal groove and feel on pattern 01 and to complete the remixes desolat s fosky brings a much more energetic approach to pattern 02. !

every label needs a strong summer release and we are pretty sure we found ours for this summer. from the very first second we heard this demo from stockholm based producer claes rosen (1/2 of dubstep duo l-wiz) we knew this would be one of our fave releases on local talk. seriously, its a real beauty! with a slight r&b touch, melodic chords and thumping house rhythms both tracks have that perfect contrast of soulful deepness and an uplifting feel. on the a-side daydreaming is a club friendly track with a bumpy house rhythm and smart r&b samples�the perfect summer tune! the b-side with wonderful is exactly what is says it is�wonderful! it is deep soulful house at its very best and music that puts a smile on your face every time your hear it. all in all its a fantastic package of exquisite house music ... enjoy the summer folks :)

zeitlos, a german word meaning timeless is one way to describe chris wood & meats new ep, triple s. this is house of a different flavor, pulling influences from freestyle jazz and funk. we find ourselves late in the night. we enter triple s, a smoky cool atmosphere, relaxed and ready. light percussion leads us into the back, where a lone wandering bass line takes the stage. the simmer of hi hats and trample of toms usher in the kicks. chugging along, a single jazz flute, and sassy women punch through the fog. the strings rise and the bass sinks into the cellar. downplayed with style and elegance, triple s is the perfect track for half past midnight, opening the gates and pouring your body on to the dancefloor.

yellorange must be considered one of the most prolific house music labels in history. founded in 1998 by the legendary tony humphries, the label closed its doors after a short run only in 2003 when strictly rhythm (who handled its distribution) collapsed. in those few years, the label put out nothing but quality music, with many - if not all - of these releases being considered a classic nowadays as you would imagine, there are lots of unreleased mixes to be discovered, and for years the fans have eagerly awaited the return of the label in hope some of these gems would see the light of the day. finally the wait is over and yellorange is back with >yellorange history - the kept it to ourselves mixes<, a collection of previously unreleased mixes by kerri chandler, paul simpson and david harness available on limited coloured vinyl. first come, first served!
