the first in a series of compilations by jura soundsystem is a blend of dub, ambient, downtempo, boogie and proto house with a focus on music never before released on vinyl, sought after out of print titles and some special versions edited specifically for the album. . the intention with this project was to delve deeper into the reissue pond and unearth some lesser known tracks and artists. highlights include smackos (aka legowelt) ambient epic ‘we can watch alf in the hotel room’, never before released on vinyl, the dub / psych hybrid of minus group’s ‘black shadow’, kash’s sought after ‘percussion sundance’ and special edits of ken dang and tabou combo. the end of the album includes some soothing ambient tools.

we are happy to welcome nyc based dj spider and berlin based franklin de costa in the killekill family. for catalog number 016 these two heavy weights of contemporary house music have joined forces to genetically modify their original sound and deliver 4 superdark and driving tools on the verge between techno and house – straight into the hands of the daring dj.

techno, disco, italo, electronics, house, library, cosmic and ambient frequencies - these are the bedrocks of the midnight drive ethos and sound. a label shining a light on overlooked or unheralded creations and respectfully reissuing them for the contemporary audience. a label that respects and understands the connection between these disparate and sometimes forgotten forms of musical expression and celebrates them. drive001 sees us step back to 1998 and into the hands of the duo of damon wild and mederic nebinger, recording together as blue maxx they quietly unleashed some of the finest futuristic widescreen techno and electro to emanate from nyc in the late 1990 s. utilising a small sub-label of wild s seminal techno imprint synewave called deja vous the pair embarked on a slew of ep s released over the space of a couple of years with private life being one of the last. across 3 tracks private life opens up a new sound world, from the driving, tool-like qualities of the a-side cut - all swinging drum programming, synth stabs and deranged metallic percussions to the deeper, more clandestine leanings of the b-side tracks, mining a more musical and electro infused vein, the whole ep stands out as something truly original. a hallmark of the blue maxx sound. this is the first time private life has been reissued, almost 20 years has passed and somehow wild and nebinger s style remains utterly fresh and contemporary. a truly rare and essential piece of hi-tech techno expression that could easily have been released this week. such is the quality on display within these grooves. remastered by curvepusher. artwork and design by atelier superplus.

musically and emotionally, superpitcher’s third full-length studio album, the golden ravedays is a one sound autobiography that exhibits the skill, feeling and style that the artist has honed over a period of twenty years, musically, and forty-plus-years, emotionally. and full-length it is: the golden ravedays is an epic album of 24 tracks that was released in january 2017 and is stretching over 12 respective chapter albums during a one-year period.
the eighth piece of the golden ravedays puzzle will be released on hippie dance in august 2017. number 8 of the series introduces two tracks that will take you to the far side of somewhere you’ve never been before. they are both reminiscent of outer space blues playing spooky games in a dust bowl.

side a features tuesday paris texas a tastefully arranged track with vintage sounds passing nonchalantly through a wild western aural landscape. the music is announced like a cowboy movie dual complete with bar doors swinging on rusty nails in slow motion. mournful guitar strings swirl over a steady horseback galloping beat, expanding into a full-on-fire dance track. halfway through a woman’s haunted voice appears and disappears like an eerie siren, a gunshot is fired (was that a gunshot?), a man whispers “what!?” tuesday paris texas is in no hurry to give an answer.

side b features mirage a desert sound collage glued to a steady pulse that rolls and rolls, circumventing any destination. mirage is a contour map of no surprising peaks just undulating valleys of wistful cathodic sound creeks, sometimes veering off to plains in full view of the moon, in earshot of solitary wolf cries. like tuesday paris texas, mirage is testament of superpitcher’s versatile prospecting beyond the elemental sound tools of the electronic music trade.

senso sounds drop a major release from techno heavyweight dubfire and label boss oliver huntemann. reuniting the partnership that has seen a string of seminal releases over the years in the form of their ‘elements’ series, ‘humano’ is the 2nd part of a continuation of this series - more weapons of grade dance-floor material from the high profile duo. later on this year their partnership will be summarized in their ‘restrospectivo’ album. former deep dish man dubfire’s uncanny knowledge of how to create epic dance-floor moments is in full effect, combined with huntemann’s precision tool production techniques on the original version of the title track. the result is a super tough, tight and incalculably driving slice of techno goodness that will ignite floors worldwide. the rest of the ep manages to maintain the pressure - with a set of sick remixes from victor ruiz, hatzler and shaded. ruiz, the brazilian techno pioneer adds another level of fire to the original, tweaking and refining the track into a damager that pushes everything to 11 and hits home with every play. hatzler, the hamburg based german dj/producer chooses a different direction - emphasizing more of the space in the original. rinsing the tension to the next level, look out for the epic middle section break down. the whole package is primed to destroy clubs far and wide - techno at its most effective. shaded’s summer skin remix also delivers a tightly wound interpretation, with a bubbling bass line and nervous, excited groove providing the fuel for an extended dancefloor excursion.

jack roland pulls apart the control mechanisms of the club environment and the way this living and breathing installation can be a tool of elevation or suppression. using club sounds as instruments for this idea, control / applications is a split release born out of amsterdam s warehouse scene, fusing together electro matrix rhythms, idm, with warped hums and breaks used by dancers and performers heading up the rave. with a track on our future works iii comp last year, this is his debut record on the label: a release challenging superstructures buried among the sweat particles of the floor.

after bursting onto the scene in late 2017, hyperloop makes his drumcode debut with green velvet in toe. followers of truesoul will be clued up on the quality one can expect from hyperloop. last october he marked the label s 100th with in the loop , a superb three-tracker that signalled his arrival on the scene and highlighted a stunning year for the label. as 2018 picks up pace, hyperloop returns with a tougher follow up for drumcode. his mentalizm ep is a classy example of his versatility, a trio of original works, accompanied by two dj tools. beginning on a menacing tip, in your mind (reflections) is a low-end brew of industrial stabs, eerie melodies and subterranean vocals. ‘s-sound is his collaboration with chicago legend green velvet and is a percussive masterstroke of loops and drum riffs which drive the eight-minute track with all the puffing ferocity of a steam train. spring on the battlefield is the perfect contrasting accompaniment, as a warm rush of strings covers a bed of intricate analogue effects and stomping kicks.

mihigh steps up for tlr006 and in mihighs true fashion brings his usual dark flavour to trapped ldn. mihigh is known for his head bending, dark, trippy erie minimal style and he has once again delivered with this evil 2 track ep. mirrors is a mix of driving minimal and dark atmospheric sounds which gives you a great after party style of track but could also be blended into a maintime set. mutual contemplation is our personal favourite which can be used as both a tool, a warm up track or an after party track. its crazy trippy leading synth keeps you entertained throughout the whole track and sounds like it was created to mess up anyones mind while at a party. we are super happy to have mihigh in the trapped family as he has been one of our favourites at various festivals we have seen him

2017 has seen many a debutant on toolroom and this could be the most exciting one yet as we welcome format:b to the toolroom family! the german tech house duo have been ruling dance floors for over 10 years now and most recently had their biggest success story when dance giants ministry of sound snapped up their chunky release that went on to hit the overall top 40 in the uk charts. this ep see s 2 slabs of pure tech house hedonism with the scoop leading the way. quirky, catchy synth hooks, powerful drums, a driving bass line and bundles of energy ensure that this track causes absolute carnage on the dance floor every time it s dropped! the flip continues where this leaves off with a raucous tech house groove and some great little vocal hooks and again, as we have come to expect with every format:b production, the energy levels are through the roof.

love & loops is back ! after the 1st release the label commanded by ale castro returns to the ring. the 1st track of the vinyl belongs to the young argentine talent gruuv who drop a super groovy tune to start shaking the dance floor. then ale castro finally release his improvisation on the synthesizers, a classic of jackin house in his presentations, now available to the whole world. side b kick off with the very well-know german producer dotstripe, who continues the synthesizer madness with a full groovy track with vocals that remind his old school roots. last but not least, bs as deep delivers another sick tune with his classical house sound, perfectly to close this 2nd various artists, a bunch of tools for any kind of dance floor, music made with love, loops and some random machines.

for the third release on decoder recordings, filip xavi makes his debut to the label. the serbian producer and resident dj of the drugstore club in belgrade delivers four superb techno tracks. all of them are characterized by an obscure sound but directly aimed at the dance floor. the first track wd-4d is a powerful opening of the ep, with its successor aw-fl keeping pace nicely. the b side of this ep can t be ignored, as the opening track he-ap kicks off quite fierce. the final composition named d-ui is an excellent hypnotic dj tool.

as part of our 10th anniversary this year, huntleys + palmers are very excited to present a special release with a combination of our musical influences old and new smagghe & cross feat. matthew herbert + remixes ivan smagghe has been a long time influence on the h+p world and we re huge fans of his new smagghe & cross project with the film composer and programmer, rupert cross. not only that, but one of the tracks features another hero, matthew herbert - making a rare appearance on vocals (and sounding pretty robert wyatt-esque in the process). additionally, we re really chuffed to have commissioned a honey soundsystem generator remix by jackie house, super-swedes, samo dj & pedrodollar turn in a trippy groover, and have enlisted the services of the dj who played the first ever h+p party back in 2007, pilooski - completing another circle during the 10th anniversary year.

the other man is a unique collaboration between up-and-coming young finnish producer janne tavi the flag-bearer of ibadans next generation nd acclaimed chicago house vocal legend robert owens. this ep is a superb rare gem that bridges global distances and combines a broad range of influences. the result is lush layers of sound, relentless energy, and intricate piano riffs and stabs. owensÆ poignant vocals seal the deal on this new house classic, taking it to sublime heights. the vocal dub kicks the heat up a notch with owensÆ seductive vocals and taviÆs stunning keys and arrangement. on the b-side, new york house legend kerri chandler makes a long-awaited return on ibadan. first up is a spirited vocal version with a dynamic bassline. chandler follows it up with an instrumental take, pared down to a tool and keeping the infectious groove going with deep and satisfying flavor.

incl argy remix !! tokyo s rising star ryo murakami has already put his diverse, electronic sound on the map with the >rise< ep on dessous last year, and received great praise for his track >my soul<, snapped up by steve bug for the fabric mix series, which was piled high with atmosphere and dark, club energy. his next 12 includes two new tracks, the title cut being >down the sky<, cooly influenced by old school house, but also more recent european forays into night music. ryo demonstrates a heavy aptitude for stripped down futurism, with staccato, jilted beats, joined by layers of padded synth structures, looming somewhere between light and darkness. the b side, ‚coke‘ (no questions asked) welcomes another one of ryo‘s extended journeys, this time a stronger, peak time groove which never lets off, and builds around layers of spaced out, pitching fx. brain-tingling pitching synths heat things up, before laying down a super-funk hook that melts on top of the beats irresistibly. ryo then leads us head-first into a series of spac d out, jacked-up movements, characterised by risque, feminine vocal snippets. poker flat‘s young greek maestro, argy, creates a stunning hi-tech remix of ‚down the sky,‘ complete with mesmeric dub influenced chord stabs and tripped out washes of delay. once again carrying on the vibe of the original, but twisting it into an altogether different beast, argy takes ryo‘s warm synth stabs and shapes the remix into a slow paced yet pumping club tool.
