a quartet of heavy reworks. reginald omas mamode iv truly does what he does best, bringing a percussive, low-slung funk to one of the most ethereal and beautiful pieces of soul on the album, sunshine. glenn astro, elevates bossa b to a jostling, bouncing shuffler that eventually turns around and heads skyward with uplifting chords and irresistible bass. deoke heads into the darker regions of the original for his hugely loved remix of bossa b. the bass on this one is ridiculous and has caused damage to a couple of sound systems were aware of (genuinely). finally the ever exceptional mr beatnick simply took the stereo track for kalimba 2 and edited it into a mind-opening dub. handling bass and harmonics as only he can, a true highlight of this high quality remix package.

sivuca s legendary brazilian cover of the bill withers classic ‘ain’t no sunshine’ was a big hit on the rare groove scene and still sounds amazing today.
we’ve also included his amazing cover of edu lobo’s ‘ponteio’ on the flip – both where originally released on sivuca’s self titled album from 1973 on vanguard.

circus company and the mole have long been making eyes at each other across the same crowded dancefloor. colin de la plante?s primary project is synonymous with the off-kilter corner of house music we like to spend our time dancing in, and the labels he releases on are close cousins of the circus troupe. from wagon repair to philpot, musique risquee to perlon, it?s a wonder that we haven?t worked together previously, but finally that?s been put right with little sunshine. stripped back, understated disco grooves have always been the bread and butter of the mole?s sound, while infectious, cyclical melodic patterns are equally important in making his unique version of house music. on the title track, those elements are presented with full force, but in between the driving rhythms linger the most gorgeous keys, bringing a mellow introspection to the track as a neat counterpoint to the energy of the drums and arpeggios

favorite recordings presents this new official album reissue of sunshine by junior byron: a real modern-soul/disco masterpiece, originally released in 1981 by canadian label formula records, and very hard to find today.
based in canada, junior byron had quite a short career as a singer and recorded only a few singles and this stunning album between 1981 and 1985. produced by andré perry and joe la greca, two famous names in the canadian music scene, sunshine is not just a one track album, but a complete whole piece of music, including some brilliants highlights such as “inch by inch”, “galaxy” or “sunshine”, which are today must-haves in many dj’s lists.
as another longtime favorite collectable piece for charles maurice, it’s a real honor and proud for favorite recordings, to finally officially reissue it for the first time on vinyl. in order to insure the best sound quality, the original tracklist has been dispatched on a double vinyl version, which should please all djs and music collectors.

cloud corridors is the first release of jan philipp longerich alias processed.sunshine and also the debut on his imprint fertile imagination music, which stands for puristic grooves, deep and dreamy vibes and an all in all raw sound that sticks tight to the original idea of a track. inspired by different formations of clouds and their movements, the record takes the lsistener from huge cloud castles in wolkenburg through cloud corridors down into the dark vibe of the fog. minimalistic drum manchine patterns, deep pads, hypnotic sequences and morphing basslines give the record its warm, lively and feral character. the lp was completely created out of live sessions with analog equipment and each track was recorded in one take. - these bouncing analog grooves are made for after hours in the early morning.

2001, the year that sunshine from dance nation ruled the dance floors around theworld and ever since then has stayed in the record boxes of most djs under the category classics. as it is widely known in the dance community shaun is not really a big fan of cover versions, so just like with laid back (bakerman) shaun hooked up with the original producers and writers and secured the original vocal samples, making this version a real official update instead of just another cover version. incorporating the typical and unique baker sound makes sunshine again internationally interesting.
