bjarki returns to &#1090,,,,&#1088,,,,&#1080,,,,&#1087,,,, with another ep brandishing five restructured doses of idm from another galaxy. using marching kick drums as a basis, oli gumm takes references from techno, gabber and trance and morphs them into something far less easy to categorise. ‘oli gumm 2-2’ switches frantically between glistening synth cascades and bouncing kicks. ‘fork2-2’ is a subdued excursion through ominous, trance-inducing strings and skeletal percussion. opening the b side, ‘7 filakaramellur lion bar’ spirals through warped vocals and acoustic contortions, followed by ‘hatann satann’, a high speed voyage through a demonic parallel universe. closing off the ep, ‘sleikjó’ uses rolling drums to circle around a pit of sparse sonic oddities.

as a polychrome composer, laurent perrier is developing his work through a large number of projects which, although they often share many common points, are all built on a strong identity. thus, zonk t has always been a way of exploring the most ambient fringes of dub, and the transition from the all-digital to compositions made entirely on modular synthesizers has overall not changed its approach in depth. yet, banburismus, whose unlikely title comes from the crypto-analytical process developed by alan turing during the second world war, begins by taking us by surprise with a long luminescent drone that seems to rise endlessly before dissolving little by little in a wall of echoes, glitches and distorted voices then make way to round and deep basses disturbed by metal peaks on which float distant blips, like farway echoes of the secret messages decoded by turing. real master stroke, this track occupying the first face of the lp is a trip in an ether much more populated than it seems. shorter, the three pieces of the b side participate in the same atmosphere, but still extend the sonic field. more stripped, more airy, more cosmic, banburismus achieves there new heights with ease. we could be tempted to play the game of references and try to put zonk t somewhere amongst the great experimenters of electronic dub. but who cares,, banburismus is well beyond categories, and laurent perrier, by cracking the code, opens for us the doors of a universe of disturbing and fascinating vastness.

in physics, entropy is a quantity generally described as the measure of disorder within any kind of thermodynamic system, including the universe. it counts the microscopic states that system can assume when open, interacting with others or getting altered by external conditions.
thus, entropy makes for the perfect description of the way ilpo väisänen (pan sonic, i- lp-o in dub) and dirk dresselhaus (schneider tm, a s s, locust fudge) have approached music creation since the establishment of their collaborative project angel (now die angel) in 1999. allowing energy to flow freely through machines, bodies and different acoustic conditions, they’ve generated a powerful archive of mutating sonic states. a kind of creative attitude that favors exploring the physical complexity of unstructured electronics.
that’s where the title for their first release on cosmo rhythmatic comes from, “entropien” being the finnish word and the german plural for entropy. getting back to the stripped down set of their beginnings (modular synths, effects, and processed guitar), they’ve come out with one of their most, intense, rawest and noisiest albums to date, showcasing an impressing scale of dynamics while attacking the senses with belligerent tones. oren ambarchi also shows up on two tracks, intertwining his drums, field recording, and guitar within the duo’s discordant layers.

through shards of frozen soundscapes, boss006 defrosts the stockholm sound with the bm debut of kalawila, whose ample use of sparse building techniques creates a rigid and tight groove structure. this subtle attitude fueled two tracker is what s up in 2016, especially in the bossmusik hometown of stockholm: the extended aside grasps intelligence while swiftly pushing forward. as for the flipside, this intergalactic adventure shares tight resemblance to the mystery unknown atmosphere of bossmusik s sonic universe, and sums up this little bomb in a clever and rewarding way... watch out!

d55 is the project of violet and photonz aka negentropy. this real-life couple share their home studio and inspire one another to create music. together they have created an universe that not only comprises their bright-eyed sonic adventures in dance music but also a love for the unknown, cosmic knowledge and the matters of the soul. they have realised that when they work together, they easily embrace an important piece of happiness-unlocking info: one should not taken oneself too seriously.

after the release of his long awaited album, *sonic crusader*, mr flash is delivering a first ep around the track *midnight blue* in featuring with surahn from dfa records. the face a contains the original track and its instrumental version, as well as an unreleased track, *moonchild*, with groove, funk and a very dancefloor character that reminds us we are well in the ed bangers universe. on the face b features the remixes of *midnight blue* with an excellent techno/house version by jon convex and two other versions between electro-house and electronica by the italians margot. just like the album, the cover artwork is one of the 6 silkscreen printings from the double six collection by the artist yvaral (jean-pierre vasarely). download code included.

for the fourth r-zone, we serve up three more tracks of fizzing atmospheric house. first track exclamation is rough and rugged with rattling percussion hidden behind layers of grainy sci fi ambiance and the breathy exhalations of a male voice. nebulous pads and synths spiral around each other forming a dense layer of dust and next track march of the worms is even more militant. this one crawls deep below the surface where analogue machines carve out weird patterns, forming a truly knackered sounding house groove. finally, claustrophobic habits bangs a bit harder, its all splintered drums and coarse claps backed with a howling, gnarly groan and truly transports you to a sonic universe miles away from the norm.

foam fangs could be a term used to describe silks preferred take on that too-easily dismissed 70s dancefloor dementia of disco – the soft bite, love nibble, mirrorball on steady/ready perma-revolve. jesse reiner (jonas reinhardts first mister, alongside past/part-time collaborators like phil manley of trans am and damon palermo of mi ami/magic touch), who never quite had the kranky krinkle of his ohm-ambient labelmates, travels head-on, tomorrowland-style, through long-form cosmic moroder constellations of >foam fangs<. nothing frothy about it, though there is a bit of the rubbery in reiner’s bounce-about, cool, funky kraut-disco. suddenly we are beaming back to a time when the world looked forward, envisioning a 21st century decked with silver, chrome, and neoprene. it is a sonic space both transparent and shiny, the metallic ding and cold ribbon of data, scrolling through infinite space. the opener, >foam fangs<, transports us instantly into an ever-expanding universe of sound and light at once fanning out and folding in on itself. variations on that theme continue as the jonas journey oscillates through the beat-beyond.

fuselabs first physical release – a vinyl 12 inch lp of russian/norwegian band onego. onego is igor bogdanov, victor shubin (both from russia), bernt simen lund and gudmund ostgard (both from norway). these guys met together to bring this finest electronica album with natural slavic and nordic touch. and that is what >bukhanka dreams< really is: a thick sonic universe of glitchy rhythms, deep ambience and truly authentic melodies. not just a fast-produced snack you know.

stuck in time is a personal statement on a particular time and of particular experiences in my life. the sounds codebase choses to use on this album point towards an alternate universe of where music may have gone instead of where it is now, fusing analog disco bass and electric piano sounds reminiscent of the 1970s with sampled electronic percussion sounds of today. this juxtaposition crystallizes the temporally frozen sonic landscape of the album a musical fossil from somewhere outside the linear progression of time
