having been on something of a hiatus following the birth of his kids, milton jackson is back and in best form ever on songs without words. his most recent releases have been on uk label tsuba and is responsible for remixes for recloose on planet e, al kent, and m a n i k. kito jempere debuted on freerange in 2013 but quickly got soon after got snapped up for ep s on dirt crew, let s play house and most recently room with a view. he also owns and manegs the fata morgana label from his base in saint petersburg. pittsburgh track authority are the genre bending trio releasing some of the finest house and techno from the east coast of the us on their own label in the machine age as well as esteemed imprints such as azuri, argot and finale sessions. kuniyuki is something of a japanese enigma, staying resolutely below the radar despite being heralded by many (including derrick may) as a major inspiration. the multi-instrumentalist has collaborated with henrik schwarz, vakula, dj nature and jimpster and has released on mule and sound of speed and remixed dj sprinkles, joe clausell and ananda project.

milton wrights perfect deep soul classic *keep it up* has always been a top shelf record, everything about it is almost flawless! whether it is miltons silky vocal delivery, the incessant guitar driven back beat or the total space funk vibe of his omnipresent arp-2600 synthesizer this record has it all. originally released on tk discos more soul and funk orientated alston label which was home to many legendary artists and records, this 1975 sunshine classic never fails to make people move. a classic rare groove indeed. *the silence that you keep* takes up side-b, a jazzy, flute driven love song that again features milton s perfect voice and some fantastic arrangement. a real gem of a record, with the original 45 changing hands for over £100 a time in used condition. this is the first time *keep it up* has been re-issued in its original 45 rpm format with the original alston label artwork. it has been re-mastered, re-pressed and made available again with the permission of tk disco / alston records, miami florida, usa.

echocord colour025 is produced by a good friend and a new artist on echocord colour, lasse buhl from copenhagen. after some years in the techno scene as one half of the group northern structures, who releases on adama x label sonic groove, lasse buhl releases his debut ep r38 on echocord colour, inspired by roughness and simplicity. the remix comes from no other than milton bradley from berlin. the r38 track ia a driving, stomping, dry killer techno track, while em.a ai is a more experimantal breaky track, with dubby elements. the remix is a pure 4/4 techno track, a typical milton bradley peaktime production.

2021 repress - huge, the full unreleased version of the o.g bboy classic brazilian rhyme straight out the sony tape vaults ( i made that sound easier than it was). not just one for hip-hop heads, the appreciation of this groove is pretty much universal. the track is an uncredited cover of toninho horta s -beijo partido- most likely directly influenced by milton nascimentos version from the lp minas which is a great cheap lp while we are on that. on the flip for the first time on 45 (until someone tells me there is some random german or thai pressing) is one of my old modern spins, best 45 of the year and its only march.

an incredible album from lo borges one of the best singer/songwriters on the brazilian scene of the 70s! borges first burst into the spotlight for his work on the club da esquina album by milton nascimento and his work as part of miltons corner club really helped shape the style of the more famous singer. yet borges is almost an equally great talent on his own with a soaring, soulful approach that’s every bit as great as the best nascimento material from the period and recorded in a wonderfully similar spirit! the sound here is completely sublime right from the start music that moves us, even if we can t understand the language of the lyrics like some of the best work by caetano veloso and gilberto gil. there’s maybe a bit more guitar than on some of the milton nascimento work of the period but used in a fuzzy way that slides in nicely with some of the jazzy phrasing of the instrumentation which is delivered with help from key contemporaries who include beto guedes, nelson angelo, toninho horta, and tenorio jr. the songwriting is amazing and titles include cancao postal, voce fica melhor assim, nao foi nada, calibre, faca seu jogo, toda essa agua,pensa voce, como o machando, and aos baroes.

these songs represent but a small sampling of the fruits of a flowering in brazilian creativity. the innovations in structure, lyrics and arrangements, combined with a very restrained but heartfelt intensity, are unique to brazilian pop music… and in their own way, are as radical, seductive and beautiful as the best english language pop.

limited to 250 copies !!! on august 4th 2011, the sony music warehouse in enfield, north london was attacked during riots and looting that affected many areas of the capitol over the course of a week. the warehouse burned down completely, taking with it millions of cds and vinyl stored by the distributor pias including the back catalogue of freerange. the blow was devastating for many labels, with the logistics of manufacture and minimal insurance payouts meaning that recreating the entirety of their old stock was completely impossible and many releases have been lost forever as a result.

sonic groove welcomes close friend henning baer to the sg artist roster. henning is one half of the team behind one of berlins most successful techno events - grounded theory. he along with milton bradley also owns the recording label k209 which has released his own solo work. henning makes his debut on sonic groove with >drop out< ep. a stunning 4 song release that spans a wide spectrum of dark, deep, gritty, analogistic industrial techno & rhythmic noise sounds layered over 4/4 and broken beat rhythms.
