for its premier release, division point industries is proud to announce a 4-track ep by rolling ones, a collaborative project featuring johannes auvinen (tin man) and jordan poling (jordan). rolling ones finds its voice in the synthesis of each artist s sound, combining tin man s acidic melodies with jordan s deep, textural pads. debuting at the division point industries residency at bushwick s notorious bossa nova civic club, rolling ones marked their arrival by playing a dj back-to-back set. opening the record is 93 mustang , a muscular, no-nonsense roller built around deep wells of warm bass and slick-piston percussion. as it builds, tin man s signature acidic squelch dances in the remaining space, giving the track a sense of both life and depth. next is faded delorian , an abyssal burner that refracts its ghostly tones around a panning labyrinth of crystalline synths. on the flip is slammed cadillac , a sinewy, stripped down stomper of clattering percussion and caustic 303s. jacked up impala finishes the record as a jacking acid tool. founded by jordan poling, division point industries is a new label built on the success of a collaborative residency with cory james at brooklyn s bossa nova civic club. having hosted artists ranging from the established to the underground, division point industries has crafted a no-nonsense take on deep house and techno that is rich in history while remaining focused on the future.

the always trustworthy sound carrier label steps back into the limelight to hit us with another fix of quality techno from monsieur chris carrier. the parisian producer never stops making music, and he presents three new extra terrestrial cuts here on this latest instalment from his excellent label. the story here is about two powerful intergalactic beings who discover that they have been lied to by their leaders - there are no magic mushrooms, just a forest of poisoned ones. they have laid down their arms to discuss this despicable turn of events… track one is a rolling slice of analogue techno with acid licks and squelches bubbling away at its core. named ‘cat’s eye nebula’ it sucks us in to an interplanetary vortex, with cosmic fx transporting to the interior of a spaceship, while the beats give the feeling of a bumpy ride into the cosmos. this is followed by the more composed solemnity of ‘galactus’. shuffling beats slide over a funky bassline, the outer space theme continues with carrier implementing a series of manipulated sounds which convey the feeling of futuristic machinery, blinking dashboards or robots communicating with one another. finally, we have ‘dark poison’, the inspiration behind the whole ep. more deep 303 vibes on this with a simmering analogue riff, percussion which increases in intensity alongside several layers of melodramatic effects, high-pitched twinkles and chimes which really add to the tension

already supported by pan-pot, sebo k, anja schneider, kiki, karotte... simplicity is the name of the game on both tracks here. on >louder elvis<, the two unleash pure deep-house bounce over ominous, detroit-inspired pads, clean-as-a-whistle bleeps laser their way through a fog of dubbed-out delay. the tunes flow suggests a live session, with tumbling chords following their own whims, but theres nothing haphazard about it. this ones all about the afterhours, head down and moving steadily into the light. a vocal sample kicks off >radio graceland< but dont expect any bloated rock n roll theatrics. instead, van dowski and agnès lay down a slowly rolling groove with a latin touch and even a little bit of reggaetón lurch. hand drums dapple the landscape with faded colors, keeping the mood subdued—at least, until the beat gathers steam and bright, syncopated chords splash about. groaning analog noises push the energy restlessly forward, driving dancers to wild abandon: the track is as effective as it is unconventional. what else would you expect from two of switzerlands most uncompromising crowdpleasers
