schon 2005 gründete sich das schweizer quartett aus mitgliedern der lausanner jazz-szene. doch von anfang an lag der fokus von olivier bill (querflöte), pierre-henry beyriere (bass), marc siegenthaler (keyboards) und sylvain rütti (schlagzeug, percussion) auf den tanzflächen der clubs, ihre groovebetonte, überwiegend instrumentale musik hat neben eleganten einflüssen aus jazz, soul, funk, afrobeat und psychedelia stets auch einen knackigen einschlag von 60’s beat, garage und lofi.
auf »released!« versammeln die musiker zehn brandneue wie auch bereits auf raren 7”-singles veröffentlichte songs und remixes. echte acid jazz-freaks kennen die kracher ›wonder zebra‹ oder ›v. l.a. m. “frozen refrains” ist das fünfte studio-album von dem elektroakustischen komponisten bérangère maximin. es erscheint auf dem label atlas realisations des new yorker produzenten craig leon (ramones, blondie). zuvor hat bérangère maximin bereits alben auf den labels tzadik, sub rosa und crammed discs veröffentlicht. seine kompositionen sind stark von der musique concrète beeinflusst. er nutzt naturaufnahmen und geräusche und verarbeitet diese stark verfremdet in seinem werk. das album ist von abstrakten sound-scapes geprägt, in den melodie- wie soundfragmente kurz aufblitzen. für fans von: pierre henry, brian eno, luc ferrari, laurie anderson und pole.

in 1972 francois de roubaix and bernard maitre composed together the music of a tv series for children presented by puppets, called the onix. the musical oddity here released by weme records is a part of this ost. this piece of music demonstrates once again that francois de roubaix was in touch with all kinds of music of his time, including contemporary music. in this experimental track we can feel the influences of the composer pierre henry, an other explorer of unknown sounds. on the b side jodey kendrick makes his own interpretation of this music with current tech and sounds while keeping the atmosphere and fantasy of the original sound. attention non music !
