solid void ep is setaoc mass sixth release on sk_eleven following from the reframe ep which came in december. the british producer plays to his strengths and delivers four tracks - rich in depth, texture and hypnotism. “light” falls opens the ep with its gentle ambience combined alongside welcoming, warm synth-lines. a2 and b1 “true lies” and “eurythmic” both take the tougher route, brandishing two cuts of tough techno sam is known for, always ready for the peak-time. the ep is wrapped together with a signature electro excursion “jenagan sivakuma” - rife with euphoria and groove.

rezz s involvement in the toronto scene helped grow her gritty style. events like bassmentality and older shows at the legendary guverment helped shape not only rezz, but an era of electronic music producers who became inspired from early dj college tours. mass manipulation is a commentary on how easily our minds can become manipulated by the things we consume in society. we consume heavily through the media, which, in turn, tries to curate our thoughts and dictate how we as humans are supposed to live and behave. this album plays off this idea and invites people to become hypnotized, allowing their brains to be manipulated by my music in the hope they might see things through a new perspective (perhaps an outer world viewpoint). one where everyone is free from the unrealistic expectations planet earth has drawn for them. a world of acceptance and hypnosis.

osf is happy and proud to announce a new 12-inch by its founder, nur jaber. the label was conceived by the staub resident as her very own creative platform, a place for her to not just release uncompromising music, but also to print poems, letters and in the case of this record, even direct a video. based in berlin, the young producer who was born in beirut remains very attached to her roots. this background partially explains why she can be inspired by tragic events happening regularly in the middle east - making brave statements in the mostly apolitical electronic music environment. the past years have seen nur embrace a career as a music producer, seeing her slowly and steadily become an original new voice in the techno landscape. this ep showcases nur s ability to create and combine daunting atmospherics and frantic paces. it is dark and twisted, with its vocals and screams, but always driving. weapons of mass destruction is meant for banging crazy dance floors, but it is also personal and almost cathartic, especially in the current political situation surrounding all of us. the artwork, as always, is put together by osf family members the beholder and beauty&machines.

dutch psych-rock artiste jacco gardner, and production partner in crime, the percussive culprit behind many a twisted tropical beat, nic mauskovic, have teamed up for a devilish ep of cinematic, balearic disco for their debut ep as bruxas. wielding a love for the wild and exotic, más profundo is a record influenced by the black arts, the sun, and the love of making nostalgic, summertime music.

berlin-based mancunian setaoc mass returns to his own sk_eleven imprint with now the fourth outing. confirming the label s emergant position as the home of purist, highly-distilled club weapons, see through marries a muscle-bound groove to arching synth strings and sci-fi encentricities for a hypnotic juxtaposition, followed closely by passive - another roller to completely loose yourself in. flipping over, the producer explores a dystopian wasteland populated by cavernous reverb-drenched claps and a nagging, mutant synth chord, whilst disrepair flaunts coates budding trademark electro strut, with bellowing kicks, crisp snares and futuristic undertones all in check.

figure is excited to present the first outing of what might soon prove to be one of techno’s most promising collaborations. while seatoc mass’ two pristinely crafted eps have already left their mark on the label, matrixxman has been turning heads across the scenes with his exceptionally prolific track record. drawing upon common thoughts on futuristic themes and their respective strengths as producers from different continents, their joint effort clearly conveys one distinct approach, yet unites the seemingly opposite. regardless of being no-nonsense dancefloor-weapons, the four tracks still brim with detail, their vibrant elements communicating playfully. on their shared ep these artists have struck a rare balance. they delicately hover between the spacious and the claustrophobic, the modern and the classic, the stern and the elated - while never losing focus of their mutual mission.

in mid-seventies, nigerian bands came and went with alarming regularity, rising meteorically from the slums to stardom and falling back again just as quickly. masisi mass funk from anamara state was one such band. but during their brief moment in the stratosphere, they produced a funk gem in i want you girl.

manchester-born, berlin-based producer setaoc mass returns to his own sk_eleven imprint with his third outing on the cycles ep. here we see the artist’s propulsive brand of techno take on an extra dynamic, starting with the muscular, mind-warping drive of cyber taking control, kunfus reverts back to a highly purified, galvanising techno groove, coalescing crisp percussion and a perpetual stomp to devastating effect, whilst turning over the sci-fi indebted structured deceit adds to the strong release with its mesmerising melodies and ceaseless energy. finished of by the more downbeat, reverb-drenched, insulated mindset of escape from you.

following up on his exceptional 12&#8243,,,, debut numb (figure 73) earlier this year, seatoc mass delivers another ep of finely tuned and highly diversified techno deep space explorations. starting on an atmospheric note, cipher’s intricate melody winchingly twists its way under your skin while airy breakbeats faintly hint at the producer’s uk roots. in contrasting fashion the bleep- driven lost lakes sticks to its metronomic stomp, making for a simple yet utterly effective tool. choral howls and detuned synths merge on transform for a gentle yet trance-inducing introduction to the flipside. emotive highlight rain then sees the manchester producer sonically recreate a thundering storm, complete with flashing strokes of lightning and a downpour of celestial scale. the breakbeat returns on closer flying buttress, albeit now at much faster tempo, exploring the common ground between futuristic grime and techno. blending all these different styles and their distinctive tropes in a coherent statement is a feat not easily accomplished. yet here seatoc mass pulls it off again, developing further the confines of both his personal and the label’s sound.

the album is a soundtrack of music inspired by the movie rubble kings and is out globally via mass appeal records. produced by longtime run the jewels collaborator little shalimar, the album features appearances from bun b, ghostface killah, killer mike, tunde adebimpe, mr muthaf*kin exquire, boldy james, cuz lightyear, ka and roxiny, in addition to run the jewels. scoring the film was the first time little shalimar set out to make period music. half of the music on this album was taken directly from the score and is heavily indebted to ‘60s and ‘70s soul and funk music. for the new tunes shalimar sampled joints from the score and created new beats out of them.
the grey marbled double lp version comes in a gatefold sleeve and includes an iron-on patch of the rubble kings plus a download code for the rubble kings album and documentary.

originally released in 1997, this early production from the legendary dutchman gerd has recently enjoyed a revival, the rare wax finding its way back into the sets of raresh, ryan elliott and bass culture label boss d julz, amongst a few happy others. after seeing on a number of occasions the magic effect ‘mass majestic’ could have on the crowd, the catchy hook appealing to all ears, d’julz knew what the next release had to be. with scarce second-hand copies hotly in demand, this secret weapon is about to see a new lease of life via bass culture. reissued in a remastered and slowed down version, ‘mass majestic’ is one of those tracks which stays on your mind long after the party is over ... the haunting keys, the intensity of the synths and the climax of clashing symbols, all driven along by the raw chugging bass-line makes this a peak-time winner. the flip side features ‘to reach’, another track from the original ep. a big room monster of rolling bass and syncopated keys, its old skool charm and brash energy grabs you to full-on, trippy effect. considered a prolific, timeless and highly eclectic producer, ‘mass majestic’ ep indulges in gerd’s blatant ballsy techno side, remaining an extremely effect dj tool 17 years on.

mr. statik is back on mos ferry with his new ep roll down the shutters. and he got massive support from sasha perera (jahcoozi). she performed the laid-back vocals on this release. remixes by dapayk and daze maxim complete the package - but enough with the name dropping. the original track shows influences in dub, but with an elegant touch.
