john talabot and axel boman teamed up in 2017 for their r&s debut the night land where they got to flex their creative muscles over eight tracks of rich synth jams. the two electronic artists have been independently successful in their respective careers, but as pitchfork expressed in their glowing review their collective output doesn’t sound much like eithers work, it doesnt even necessarily reflect the thin, convex sliver where their interests overlap. instead, theyve hit upon something new. this new sound also proved to be a hit with the likes of mojo, phonica, xlr8r, self titled and dj mag all including it their annual best of lists. the artists have now handpicked four artists to create their own vision of the talaboman sound. superpitcher, samo dj and luke slater under his l.b. dub corp alias have all seriously delivered the goods.

zeitgeber and l.b dub corp split the second in stroboscopic artefacts series of fifth anniversary records. zeitgeber is the collaborative project of sa label boss lucy and dutch techno royalty speedy j. their joint alias birthed an exceptional long-player last year and has since been presented as a b2b act at festivals and clubs around the world. totemism is their first officially released output since that album, and is every bit as compelling.

glam was the name used by italian hits producers dfc team to present their cult record hells party. hells party also was more than just an inspiration for the international hit the key the secret composed by urban cookies collective and dfc team. for their second glams record dfc team wanted one of their favorite artist of all times: pete burns of dead or alive. pete was really excited by glams demo and wrote one of his best songs: this is the story of sex drive that fast become an hit in 1994. today, exactly 20 years later, dfc label re-releases sex drive with four wonderful new remixes, a real hot record that pete burns and glams old and new fans cannot miss.

on the fourth unterton release the black dog present a new sound somewhere between house and techno that the black dog call darkhaus. the original version of * council flat emptiness* is an infectious, futuristic, disco-tinged version of a progressive dancefloor workout bathed in strings, mellow melancholia and heavy bass. this is preceeded by a straight to the point stripped down version that multiplies the hypnotic elements of the original. on the b-side a 9-minute-30-something remix from luke slaters l.b.dub corp project drives the original into classic slater territory where techno and groove marry and electrify each other.

wonder & amazement is a record ive had in various forms and incarnations from ex chicken lips members steve kotey & andy meecham for about a year now – a song that immediately grabbed me from the very first moment i heard it. reminiscent of days gone by mixed with a touch of the new - a song that contains a mixture of both the old classic and the new classic. ive been championing it for a while now either in sets or charts, even including it on a recent compilation i did. a record that we are proud to be able to use as a soundtrack to this new era of classic.
