another debut for the new bass culture release. for bcr013, we welcome swedens joel alter. as a trained violinist and composer for the swedish national theatre, joels first steps into the world of electronic composition came with an exotic mixture of classical influence and modern inspiration, from acts such as depeche mode, jean-michel jarre and front 242. a key figure on the swedish music scene since 1995, joel has always seen his music as stemming from the meeting of a variety of artforms. his first steps onto the international circuit came with the signing of material to int. deejay gigolo and minus. since then, he has developed a strong relationship with hamburg label, room with a view, featuring on seven releases since early 2009, as well as releasing on berlin based label sweatshop...

joel alter blew us away some months ago with his soul clap release on sweatshop! a much under-rated record which makes things go wild everytime its being dropped. now he is back strong with more straight pumping chicago-inspired tracks that continues alter s forays into the rougher, tougher side of house music. simple and effective tracks that reminds us of early raw house projects of jeff mills with basic elements and phat drum machines. joel alter going back to the basics and pushing the right buttons!

the solid tumbling tones found on this ep are all thats needed as an introduction to these two accomplished producers latest creation. both strong forces in their own right, the pair come together once again on sweatshop to present their vision of dancefloor harmony, and mystery! sirens is the aptly titled track whose crazy vibe is encapsulated by jacking, swinging percussion, wild pitching synth stabs and a haunting soprano soloist letting loose! this needs to be experienced to be believed, but the proof will be in the dancefloor, hands in the air and minds expanded! moirae works the tension with dense filtered stabs and crisp solid state percussion, driving this deep slab of dark dance into blissful moments of release. mellow yet urgent, its a raw, purist electronic statement! joel alter also offers up a special edit which focuses the groove in a slightly more kinetic direction, with reduced, aquatic synth work and a classic club energy that makes it an ideal addition to the package.

sweatshops third release rolls on in with two hot, old-school-vibed productions from joel alter! swedish-berliner alter turns in two fresh, yet raw, cuts that are perfect for the winter club season, and a special edit from label boss savas pascalidis also features. lead cut soul clap is a heavy metal bass weapon for the house or techno floors. pure adrenal action is on hand from the outset, where joels sub-assured kick and ravey, filthy organ riff works the groove. direct and straight to the point, its a strong, forward leaning tool that is sure to get the fires burning in early 2010. savas pascalidis also re-works soul clap with his own edited version, working the 909 into overtime and turning up the intensity even higher! classic and tough chicago vibes all the way!

when he proceeded further into the production process, he limited himself using the computer less and instead learning to trust his intuition, the flow of his fingers and to use his own voice as an instrument. this led to an album that is rather hard to pin down genre-wise but even easier to connect to emotionally when you listen to it from start to finish.

andre crom returns to off with a deep and moody piece of house music. based on a layer of solid drums and a warm bassline, the track evolves with a gliding synth hook and bell theme, topped by a haunting vocal featuring bramwell. berlins rising star jonas saalbach delivers a spacy interpretation, altering the original theme and introducing new synth layers. finally, london-based ashwort adds a toolish deep techno remix, only using fragments of the vocal to give more focus to the groove.

finally the remixes of the celebrated jonsson/alter mod album is here � featuring no less than minilogue, donato dozzy and dorisburg (half of swedish duo genius of time). my god, that took some time. but no harm is done. all remixes has some kind uplifting and sunny trance mode to them, so as it turns out, this is actually the prefect spring release.minilogue starts out with the track kyrka 2.0 and ads both speed and length. donato takes on the track acapellan and does everything right. keeping the beautiful vocals of the original, donato adds bass line and new drums. the ep closes with another swedish contribution. alexander berg aka dorisburg from duo genius of time reworks djup house, and does it well. a solid bass line keeps us grounded to the dance floor while dreamy melodies and harmonies gently lift our serotonin levels. enjoy! before leaving you to the music we would like to thank minilogue, donato dozzy, dorisburg and last but not least, henrik jonsson and joel alter
