somewhere between electro soul and melodramatic pop. music focused towards the youth set in some strange dream. not sugarcoating anything. these late 80s / early 90s recordings are something to truly behold! . aset was a collective founded by a group of individuals deeply involved in community improvement initiatives and the struggle for justice and equality. a project that would link motivated adults with talented young people in the washington, dc metropolitan area. the compilation takes songs from three released projects of aset, and one semi-unreleased single. latonya, a spunky 11 year old kid singing about divorce, love, and dancing. the poster child of aset. treo, a trio of high school gals in harmony singing about love and relationships. whax, the high school boys who were a bit strangr the silly side of aset. all backed by the aset players. release comes housed in a newly designed jacket with inner sleeve containing info on the label/artists and an interview with the label director, mba mbulu.
THE MAKE UP THE BREAK UP
12 Inch
27.07.09
the make up the break up is the first release on bruno pronsatos own thesongsays label. its the longest track in his catalog (38 minutes), and an even deeper excursion into his stylized harmony. this track was originally a track uncompleted while making, æwhy cant we be like us. revisiting it roughly a year ago, bruno began to reword it. what began as simple attempt to create an ep track out of it became a monster. what monster you ask? in a few words, the monster that is brunos love of musicality and sound design. muscially speaking, we are on a ride somewhere between a slithery house track and a drugged out night out in chelsea, new york in the 60s - and thats a good thing because we get the entirety of the ride: the ups, the downs, the clouded mentality, the broken heart and perhaps the mended one. its happy, its sad - its something that you can dance to, but most importantly, its music that we think you can revisit for many years, as it somehow reflects us, our lives. a playful and extended journey through love and disaster, or at least the soundtrack to it.
JAGDGRUENDE EP
12"
13.09.16
hamburgs finest pay kusten presents three new power-generators on resopal - equipped with the right measure of steam and courage. his jagdgründe ep for resopal couldn t prove better his prediction that in 2016, minimal dubby techno will contain more warm and melodic components. jagdgründe ep provides us with bass-prone reduction somewhere in between techno and house, and harmony bits that remind of calypso, perfect for the open-air season. on top a remix by label mate rodden von ast.
APOLLO KRIEG 01
12 Inch
17.01.12
after 7 years of staying out of the limelight, mille & mr.hirsch (playhouse, newpolish, r.a.n.d. musik and much more!) are back with new material. the new imprint owes its name to a group of berlin artists called apollo krieg who produce fashion, artworks and whacky installation art. with berlin as their base, mille & mr.hirsch hang around & see much of their work influenced by the work of this group and decided to name it after this group of artists true to the motto: nowadays the guys from apollo krieg also produce music. side a: (apollo/alpha) golden age is the classical, heart-warming, romantic and seemingly never-ending deephouse epic which finds its place somewhere between detroit house, balearic, jazz and funk. it is always a tad larger than life and opulent in harmony and melody but, with due to its well-defined instrumentalization, it seems somehow traditional. this track has a 9-minute arc of suspence and is devoid of any drum-machine orgies and razzle-dazzle a unique piece of shit!side k: (krieg/kokain) kinky love is a bit more modern, with more track, less melody and less music. the mix of strong samples (e.s.p./kinky go) with slightly dark and deep functional track make this 8-minute track a potential floorfiller! best regards apollo krieg berlin
I LOST MY WALLET

like no other german producer, hannover-born martin buttrich has been decisively influencing the sound aesthetics of electronic dance music since the middle of the nineties. having been more in the background for most of the time while working for and with timo maas and loco dice among others, his benchmark releases for carl craigs label planet e or poker flat have also spotlighted his original name in the public. buttrichs second ep for cocoon couldnt prove better his prediction that in 2008, minimal techno will be containing more warm and melodic components. strangely familiar but always surprising, again and i lost my wallet provide us with bassprone reduction somewhere in between techno and house, and harmony bits that remind of caribbean calypso sounds provide the feeling of the approaching summer which makes both tracks perfect for the final of the open air season 2008. at least, buttrich will be an integral part of the season closing between ibiza main river and spree.
