once again, hi! energy records doesn’t set any limits and keep exploring the house & garage spectrum. this third release from various emerging artists based in europe and brazil is an invitation to (re)discover this so popular style in the 90’s! also spiced up with modern house sounds, the least one can say, is that those cuts will leave no one indifferent!

garage bands suddenly obtain cult status and become the antithesis of their initial appeal’ garage class were a group of reluctant outliers who produced one of the finest contributions to the wave of uk diy music that emerged during the late 70s and early to mid-80s. hailing from alsager in north west england and comprised of tim shutt (vocals) phil murphy (lead guitar) clive williams (guitar) lynne sanders (bass) and phil bourne (drums / bass on studio recordings) garage class originally went by the name of the pits before their then manager steve hurt imposed an alias which, though unpopular within their ranks, would nevertheless reflect the shambolic art they would eventually capture on their first and only single.

two spontaneous recordings made by mystic jungle and rico milord during an hot midsummer night at west hill studio (camaldoli, naples). lo-fi reverbered analog cheap drums, fm synthesizer, electric bass and lazy guitar movements amplified in a vintage space echo.

last year saw the mysterious garage shelter make their debut appearance on skylax, and little is still known about them! all we know is they are back with some freshness on the skylax classic sublabel. first up is bring back love, a track that will sink its claws in with that infectious vocal sample hook. sticking with the old school sample vibe is the lonely heart dub of attempt, it’s a bit more mellow but still has plenty of groove in it. friend of the garage shelter, dj la foudre, appears over on the b side with it’s alright (signal st mix). still on that catchy sample tip, it features one of the grooviest bassline and funky guitar pairings i’ve heard in a long time. next up, perception 66 is a smooth house affair from yet another friend, asa no hikari. rounding out the package is garage shelter’s own you (still), a dreamy pad-driven track that may indeed be the pick of the release. while we don’t know much about garage shelter, we can’t help but look forward to what they come out with next!

sir joe born in 1987 in america latina, as teenager he moved with his family to london, during his studies (thanks to his crazy schoolmates) he felt in love with the illegal rave party and with the new school of electronic uks music. a quick step that turned him into a music producer. sir. joe shaped his sound mixing european and american styles. old school chicanos groove and samples were restyled in the direction of the english and dutch style. lod is glad to present sir. joes debut... again five tracks of pure energy and soul mixed with few drops of acid. welcome to the house of sir. jo
