quazarz came to the earth from somewhere else, a musical ambassador from his place to ours. somehow, through fire or through fury, the palaceer of shabazz palaces caught wind of the tale, and it is through his prism that we hear the story. the beach was there, and atlaantiis, and chemical alterations and cell memories and andre norton, richard k. morgan, and always octavia butler. there were killings and there were votes, and brutality in both. there was sound and there were other worlds, and there was a vastness so participation sometimes came only at the edges. and the palaceer coasted down with the alien notion, like quazarz, and so became. on quazarz when they look at this place they see the inhabitants, the humans, but they don�t assess as we do. and so quazarz was sent to meet a cat with vibration, a creative and courageous, caring, compassionate dude that stood out. the dude was a drug dealer, but that was neither here nor there, until his dealings squashed the rendezvous, leaving our alien alone to figure out what this place is really all about. the vinyl release includes a download code.

cadenza music opens up its 2016 account with the debut single from swiss producers, rare movement feat. disco channel. cutting their teeth on the dj circuit for many years, and playing alongside such esteemed jocks as seth troxler, ricardo villalobos (who mastered the audio on these tracks), jamie jones and luciano (who ultimately signed this single to cadenza), the guys have crafted a pair of tracks that sit right in the dj sets of the aforementioned company. rare 007 combines tension building synths and a wandering bassline, wrapped up tight in solid drum groove, its hypnotizing tones carving out a most useful club tool. on the flip side, rare 011 digs deeper, with cinematic string sweeps over the sparse and bass heavy kick drum. flashes of vocal refrains and micro percussion fly in and out of the arrangement as the melodic elements give this one a real sense of drama as the track blossoms into life. a very accomplished debut from the guys will no doubt provide a real dancefloor moment in the right setting, and no surprise that villalobos gave these tracks the audio master that they deserve.

after storming the charts in 2012 with mysterious 7 inch championed by todd terje & many others, zambon & kapsa - the guys from the very polish cut outs are back with more goods! following the successful debut, they bring us a delicious 12 inch release with 4 amazing edits based on obscure polish records from the 80s. a side is curated by ptaki, a mysterious duo hailing from warsaw. ptaki (which means birds in polish) fly high and want to keep their true identity under the radar. nevertheless, they serve two amazing cuts here, both based on obscure polish jazzfunk. krystyna is the choice cut, with its infectious vocal hook and irresistible groove. marek is a piece of wonderful balearic slow house with rich rhythm and crazy synth action in the middle. b side comes from maciek sienkiewicz, one of the finest purveyors of balearic grooves in poland. two tracks served here wouldnt sound out of place in alfredos set. song for mohindar is the lead track, with its ethereal new-age atmospherics and exotic instrumentation. syntetyczna kobieta lux is an electronic burner that you may (or may not) know from last years tvpc beats in space show.

on the last various artists ep, we were seduced by the dutchmens music, it was clear for us to invite them for an exclusive ep. ivano is no doubt a one of the hottest new comers of the year, and were very happy to release his partner alex jansens 1st appearances on vinyl. 3 personal, inventive, emotional tracks, great work on textures of the sound definitely groovy as hell. varoslav gives here a more housy version for the dancefloor. expect to hear more from the guys in 2013!

aleph04 comes with three special reinterpretations of the labels first three eps. mano le tough is first in line. his remix of > flowers on fire< from aleph01 takes the originals colorful and spaced out vibes and puts them into a little more dancefloor friendly context, with a big 808 booming away and the swirls of the original synthline driving the track forward. mano has been a big supporter of the label right from the start and his releases on permanent vacation, buzzin fly or internasjonal have been turning heads quite a lot, so its an honour to have him on board. the second remix is by wasted gaze. this newcomer from vilnius / lithuania delivers an amazing version of >port hope< , taken from aleph02. a powerful, 2step / garage inspired beat sets the pace, while glowing pads, a super deep bass and enigmatic vocals take care of the rest. watch this guy, his untitled states ep on partyzanai is one of the most intersting and exciting records in a long time. the last track is a remix by aera aka m50 from chicago, who, quite fittingly, took care of this spaced out take on whats my name again? from aleph03. this one is for the heads, a special gem that will work magic in the early morning hours

tube10 returns with their 10th release already and their not mucking about! usas own don distal is stepping up with the ever epic >apple bottom< is it juke? no! is it house? no! is it dubstep? hell no! apple bottom is a hybrid tune is there ever was one ... this one smashes the dancefloor and leaves the crowd begging for more. with its juicy form and rave like edits its obvious that distal is no one day fly. with releases set for pinchs tectonic label and sindens grizzly you will know what to expect from this guy.
flip it over for >space graffiti< another piece of interstellar vandalism. this time distal shows what he is worth on a more dubby side. dont underestimate this one as this will pound any speaker system to bits with its firm deep bassline. let the tribal beats pick you up and put you down wherever you want to!

the process of receiving and listening to demos is akin to the proverbial needle in a haystack - poorly labeled cd�s or mp3�s are handed out indiscriminately like flyers for strip clubs in times square (circa 1970). �i really think you are going to like this,� or �all nude girls,� and �dj �x� played this at space,� or �24 hours live sex show�!!� but in the end, just like the harsh reality of a stripper in daylight, the demos fall well short of anything mildly interesting and certainly nothing you would bring home to mom� until madato� from the first group of tracks he sent it was clear that a nice guy from naples had sent us the needle we had been looking for. �naples may not be a place one would consider to be particularly inspiring, from its outside appearance, chaos, and plenty of junk on the streets - it takes a deeper gaze, beyond, and into madato�s dream world. madato is always looking at what�s beyond the waste. inside his dream box you might find laura palmer making out with ian curtis, charles bukowski writing a fairy tale, or perhaps john nash singing along to bauhaus songs�� file under: trippy disco inspired dance music, not defined by a genre but more of an attitude. post-punk undertones mixed with psychedelic sensibility

the fifth neurhythmics release is a compilation of befriended artists, and this is reflected by the different interpretations of the individuals to what the labels sound is about. juergen provides the a-side with >common sense< a vocal-snippet driven house-track, that once again underpins his sound-aesthetics of having it sound live and mixed on the fly, straight out of the machine. the flip-side could not start off any better. quite possibly a future classic, >signature< by mike binary, has soul and emotion literally squeezed in between each of the effortlessly programmed beats, and has become one the favourite tracks at the neurhythmics hq to ever been put on the label. last but not least, >no other< by the dirty soul project (you will know these guys, but we were sworn to secrecy) firmly pulls the hand brake and slows things down to just over 110 bpm. this doesnt mean that this very hypnotic number isnt going to work in the early morning slots�au contraire, actually...

after several hot tunes on worthy�s anabatic imprint, birminghams tom flynn joins the ranks of the dirtybird crew. i ve battle tested the a-side of this record all around the world. >catch that bird< is a rare mix of deep rooted funk whilst also sounding like a caribbean jungle track pitched down to 126. my favorite!
i d play this ep just on the strength of the a-side but i feel like a lot of attention will also be given to the b-side called >rhode island<. this is a classic piece of deep house with all the melodic elements of a dirtybird jam.
tom sent me at least 7 tracks before i signed these so the guy is certainly prolific and i expect to hear quite a bit more from this up and comer this year.
