were back with the second jack cassettes series! following the success of the first jack series, weve decided to pull heavyweights out of the treasure trove of chicago reel to reels acquired by still music last year. this second series is another incredible glance into our beloved house music through some lost radio mixes salvaged from reel to reels by jerome derradji. we start with a superb one hour mix from frankie knuckles circa 1986 and dive straight to the hot mix 5 with edward get down crosby and his insane mixes, full of edits and original beat traxx. a small detour to miami is made with a killer electro mix by wgci guest joe magic. pull out the tape deck, move the furniture away and jack!

three releases deep now, shadow play transports us back to the nineties with this extra special collection of music from uk wizard scott edward. the bristolian producer dropped a killer series of tracks from 1993 onwards, using a variety of aliases to explore the realms of the techno universe. it’s an honour for shadow play to be able to rerelease one of scott’s classics, access activist, alongside three previously unreleased cuts from the same era. we hope you enjoy these classic examples of british underground techno.

the artist formerly known as edward returns to merc for his second release. >burning< burrows a deep distorted bongo led, deep disco march into you head for a day, topped with dramatic stabs keeping it other worldly. on the b-side >counterfeit paradise< highlights the plight of south americas rain forests with a mark e deep house interpretation.

bei -celestial vibration- handelt es sich um das 1978 erstmals veroeffentlichte debuetalbum von edward larry gordon, der vor allem unter seinem pseudonym laraaji bekannt wurde. entdeckt wurde laraaji von niemand geringerem als brian eno, der ihn in einem new yorker park hat spielen hoeren und 1980 auf seinem album -ambient 3: day of radiance- weltweit bekannt wurde. gordons hauptinstrument ist die zither, die er bisweilen elektrisch verstaerkt und wie ein klavier spielt. 1943 in philadelphia geboren, studierte gordon musiktheorie, bevor er nach new york zog. -celestial vibration- erschien 1978 in einer auflage von 500 exemplaren und war quasi seitdem nicht mehr erhaeltlich. die zwei je 24 minuten langen stuecke des albums haben trotz ihres jazzhintergrunds beide einen sehr meditativen charakter, wobei das zweite rhythmisch und kompositorisch ein wenig anspruchsvoller ist. gordon, der in monroe, new york, ein aschram gruendete und mittlerweile einen lach-meditations-workshop betreibt, hat seit seinem debuet mehr als 50 alben mit meditationsmusik veroeffentlicht.
