nice price deal !!! the melbourne deepcast is the brain child of andy hart and myles mac. both venerated djs in their own right, alongside harts production prowess, in 2009 the duo formed what was then a podcast and online hub intended for the sole purpose of celebrating quality house music from melbourne and beyond. it has since become a record label, but its original aim is undeniably its most important. the website has shone a light on all of the above names (and more), helping to create the sense that something special is happening in melbourne.

the latest release on antonio zuza and ilija rudman s imogen label once again features the latter, celebrated croatian producer and also introduces andre espeut. a performer, songwriter and arranger born in london with west indian, african, french and spanish heritage, espeut was raised on a diet of musical goodness. house, rare groove, latin and disco among the musical styles that sunk into espeuts dna in his formative years, making him the perfect foil for rudman on this 12inch, in her eyes. alongside the slowed down vibe of the original version, uk house royalty charles webster gets the call to turn in a superb remix for the djs!

a career spent djing across the globe was the catalyst for damian lazarus’s latest project – damian lazarus & the ancient moons. masterminded by lazarus the album brings together a wide assortment of vocalists, collaborators and players from around the world. taking inspiration from lazarus s lazpod series, get lost events and day zero festival in mexico, this is music for deserts, jungles and sunrises.

eddie leader teams up with dallas vocalist red eye (robsoul / dotbleep) & manchesters moodymanc (2020 vision / dessous) for a techy affair thats receiving support from the likes of josh wink, milton jackson, laurent garnier & charles webster amongst others. the original is a tough deep house track which will also raise a smile from techno fans. eddie uses moody keys and twisted stabs accompanied by red eyes slick vocals and live percussion from dubble d is thrown in for good measure. dubble d adopts his moodymanc alias for the remix and pulls out a sound reminiscent of maw drums and a mr fingers bass line cutting up the vocals nicely for a dubby effect. leader also throws in a bonus track that would work nicely in the early hours. hudd traxx have been on a roll as of late and this is more of the same ,-) plays from - josh wink, milton jackson, charles webster, agnes, laurent garnier & loads more ...

continuing far outs 7inch series, joyce scats her way over two high octane bossas with an unmistakable feminina-style sound. this 7inch features an exclusive version of feijao com arroz - a track from joyces forthcoming cd yet here with a scorching bassline that differs from the album version and will ensure the tune gets flipped by those djs who know the damage a bass led bossa groove can do to a dancefloor. feijao com arroz - rice and beans - might be the simplest of brazilian dishes yet this track is a master class in samba jazz. joyce and her banda blend the basic ingredients of bass, drums, guitar and vocals into a rhapsodic groove that sounds like it could be a lost classic from seminal joyce albums such as feminina or tardes cariocas. joyce weaves a web of sonorous guitar work in between tuttys frenetic cymbal work as her scat lifts the tune high whilst a driving bassline pushes the groove low, surely putting feijao com arroz up there with the likes of aldeia de ogum and feminina. on the flipside lies penalty, a live favourite from joyces recent japanese tour. again on paper the ingredients look simple - bass, drums, guitar and vocals - yet in the hands of joyce and co the elements are blended together to create a celestial slice of spiritual jazz dance guaranteed to lift even the weariest of souls.
