despite building their careers out of strikingly different musical places, both dbridge and radioactive man have taken influence from the field in which each other operate. dbridge (darren white) was part of the iconic drum & bass outfit bad company and he helms one of the scene’s most solid and quality imprints in exit records and radioactive man (keith tenniswood) was born from the acid house scene and the off kilter electronics of his two lone swordsman projects (alongside andrew weatherall) which led him to create his decidedly uk take on drexciyan electro. it’s by no means a stretch to learn that both producers have crates that contain their favourites from each genre but they’ve also found a mutual respect and connection in the studio over the last few years, leading to the dbrm moniker for craig richards’ the nothing special label.

ship to shore is a new record label from record collector and gentleman of the night craig richards. the first release is by pbr streetgang made specifically with craig in mind, the release also includes a remix by craig himself. pbr streetgang delivery a great ep of wayward hedonistic-house. ‘in the turret’ has been causing somewhat of a commotion, of late, on discerning dance-floors. on the flip craig offers up a drawn out electro break-beat take on ‘in the turret’, which is equally as beguiling. the ep also features the deep disco leanings of ‘affordable excellence’ and the psychedelic ‘apocalypse tool’.

for phonicas landmark 20th release on the main label we go back to a classic from the same year the shop opened stereofuses casino ep, originally released on berlin label salo in 2003. the casino ep marked the first collaboration between martin wörner & thorsten diegel as stereofuse. they followed it up with a string of other 12inches for other labels but its this initial 12inch that has been fetching high prices second-hand as one of the most sought after releases on salo and for very good reason. a timeless ep sitting somewhere between house and techno (before tech-house became a disputed tag-line!) with the likes of ricardo villalobos & craig richards playing it regularly in their sets.

memories is a bold collection of uninhibited songs inspired by ady’s personal experiences. drawing on touchstones of british adolescence, the album covers a broad range of themes - from love and relationships through to mental health issues. all the tracks on memories are written by ady, and co-produced by ady alongside the likes of ivor novello winning cassel the beat maker (akala, plan b), richard archer, eric appapolay (neneh cherry, craig david, lionel ritchie) and grades (bastille, dua lipa, khalid). highlights include forthcoming single ‘need somebody to love’ which sees ady intertwine sprawling jazz with adolescent infatuation over a teardrop drumbeat and sparse choral samples.

visionquest special edition returns this september with sakro s supersymmetry ep. edgardo alonso aka mexican producer and dj sakro has been rising up the ranks over the past few years with his raw, stripped-back approach to house seeing him release material with revered imprints in the field such as raum...musik, housewax, karlovak and fathers & sons. here we see the sakro joining the roster of visionquest offshoot special edition, the vinyl only imprint home to material from ricardo villalobos, craig richards, wareika and konrad black amongst others. up first on the package is lusyd , a shuffling percussion fuelled number featuring swinging snares, murky atmospheric pads and choppy sub bass hits at its core. jazz in mars follows embracing robust rhythms and an amalgamation of jazzy sample snippets alongside resonant synth swells to create a sturdy peak time workout. voices opens the b-side of the release with heavily swung drums, smooth ethereal chords and lumpy sub frequencies while a dark and brooding vocal ebbs and flows throughout the composition. title-cut supersymmetry then closes out the release with an energetic rhythmic drive, intricately modulating synth flutters and snaking pad lines.

omni am came into existence from the disparate musical tastes of adam collins and marky star during the strict 90s chicago house scene. making use of a wider palette of sounds and rhythms, the two formed an act around an eclectic live pa and their unique vision of unpredictable house music. with resident advisor calling it as good as house music can possibly get, beat dis is a breakbeat salute to house music and was featured on fabric records tyrant 2 by craig richards + lee burridge. dangerous is a minimal tech classic with omni am s signature rule-breaking style. originally released on swag, the song deepened the groups long relationship with the south london record shop and its crew. presented now for the first time with updated masters, this release is for fans requesting these rare songs, and also for a newer generation who are eager for their own copies
