hand numbered vinyl only! frits wentink s next release on his own bobby donny label finds him editing some tracks he has been playing on his radio show for a while. they are originally by vertiqua, a german lo-fi hip hop producer that remains unknown. the vinyl only record is limited to 500 copies. all four of these tracks have been edited to make them more suited to the dance floor. the a side comes as an edit that is all about woozy chords and loose, bumpy drums with a rapped vocal stitched deep into the arrangement. it s warm and intake for cosy dance floors. the b1 has organic boom bap drums and kicks, more tape delayed chords and a nice analogue feel all finished with a wordless but beautifully soul-infused vocal. last of all, the louche drums of on b2 are coated in vinyl crackle and laced up with more intoxicating and imperfect chords. this is a perfectly aged combination of hip hop and house that will get any floor bouncing.

wurst are going from strength to strength with another killer 12inch, this time from ulysses. latin combo features pretty much no latin elements on first listen although we think we can hear a few claps and percussion samples from a charanga 76 cover of chic that might be influencing the title. both tracks feature dubbed out drums and a warm analog feel throughout making for a pleasant listen and two solid club tracks at the same time.

monsieur-du-jour, chevals, graces us with his presence for an ep of exquisitely produced edits. la bouteille opens things up with a rhythmic workout combined with filtered melodies that erupt into a summery piano driven jam. under your command then comes in with the classic golden era disco feel, tied together with a shuffling beat. flip it over and fairy tales takes you into 80s boogie territory with those squelchy synths & irresistible vocals. closing out the ep chevals brings out the peak time, slap bass, disco stomper in croisades, complete with sultry sax licks, sure to do damage to any dancefloor its set before.

the first in a series of compilations by jura soundsystem is a blend of dub, ambient, downtempo, boogie and proto house with a focus on music never before released on vinyl, sought after out of print titles and some special versions edited specifically for the album. . the intention with this project was to delve deeper into the reissue pond and unearth some lesser known tracks and artists. highlights include smackos (aka legowelt) ambient epic ‘we can watch alf in the hotel room’, never before released on vinyl, the dub / psych hybrid of minus group’s ‘black shadow’, kash’s sought after ‘percussion sundance’ and special edits of ken dang and tabou combo. the end of the album includes some soothing ambient tools.

for over 40 years orchestre poly rythmo de cotonou has combined traditional beninese music with soul, funk, afrobeat, rhumba and cuban rhythms to create this infectious soundà hailing from benin, west africa, orchestre poly rythmo de cotonou has been churning out incendiary afro grooves since 1966. on bosq meets poly rythmo uptown, bosq tastefully reworks 4 of orchestre poly rythmo s legendary recordings. as a die-hard fan, bosq took a subtle approach to the project. according to him orchestre poly rythmo has been a strong influence on his work and he wanted to be respectful to the original tracks. bosq focused on making the tracks dj friendly by beefing up the low end, rearranging and stretching parts out, and adding in extra percussion and a drum machine. the result is a 4-track ep of bumpy afro disco, psychedelic funk, frenzied afrobeat, and sunny soulful grooves. based in medellin, colombia, bosq has released a collection of music on ubiquity records, soul clap records, fania records, razor-n-tape, and more. since 2015, sol power sound, out of washington, dc has released deep sounds inspired by rhythms and traditions from around the globe. the label s output includes afro-latin stompers, re-edits of lost disco grooves, heady percussive tech workouts, and other sonic treats. four stone-cold classic orchestre poly rythmo de cotonou tracks re-shaped by bosq for the dancefloor today..

a few years ago, melodies family members floating points and dj red greg got their hands on a couple of original 70s obscurities. while these standout records shone brightly in their own right, the two djs saw the potential to create their own edits behind the scenes, finely attuning the original versions to modern-day dancefloor standards. of these new recordings, they cut only five copies for themselves and a few dj friends of theirs. today, melodies international is very proud to bring you mel006 and mel007. fully licensed, lovingly mastered to the highest possible standards and carefully edited to dial up that dancefloor enjoyment, these two æyouÆre a melodyÆ classics werenÆt originally meant to get official releases. but due to popular request, they are now available to play and share in very special moments at parties around the world. mel6 arrives as a 7-inch, with the original version and the edit on the flip. first released in 1979 as a three-minute up-tempo library recording, ôdisco baby-, one of 10 tracks off a record available to license for film, radio, television and other media, held some hidden magic that would only get uncovered almost four decades later. informed by years of combined dancefloor experience, floating points and red greg have slightly tweaked the original material, realising that played in the right context, it can become a true disco anthem.

in this offering by the berlin-based and made in the middle east label disco halal, we urge you to meet nadav spiegel, better known as autarkic. autarkic is a self-sufficient artist and live virtuoso, he is the first member of the disco halal family which will be releasing his music in spring 2016. “can you pass the knife?” is about the struggle being stucked in a gap between longing to his homeland and what it could have been like and a heavy criticism on what it actually became. it will be a mini-lp containing 6 mesmerizing songs, “asi keta g”, “solo gun”, “watch out”, “the misorientation of autarkic”, “ufo (space version)” and “tender lies”. that might sound like only a combination of random words now, but after being heard, these songs will help you to enter the embodiment of autarkic​ and allow you to save a piece of his soul on your shelf. shimmering melodies, gibberish language, haunting vocals, extended beat programming and one-take recordings, should mark the beginning of a new disco halal phase. after releasing mainly edits from around the transcultural hemmesphere, the transition to original exquisite music seems to be a necessity.

on sat002 lovework/decisions, black light smoke shows off his pop sensibilities with two sing-a-long summer anthems-in-the-making. lovework is a no-wave-inspired ditty littered with catchy analog synths, an ass-shakin bassline and reverbed claps juxtapozed with a haunting processed vocal from the producer himself that repeats, >you made a mess of my head. now i gotta put it all back together. theres nothing to say, over and over…< which is how this tune will be playing in your head after one listen. on the flip we get a taste of black light smoke in deep house mode with decisions, a lustrous and vibey joint that features a sweeter vocal by suavecito, a new guise of dj/producer and vocalist who is well known by another name. here more analog synths produce wickedly buoyant bass lines and swirling pads that combine with bubbly piano stabs and little vocal sample/edits for what sounds like it could have been a naked music release had the label been operating in 1990.

as with the cult combi series, we expect these to sell out in a matter of days - 300 copies only.

a long term promoter and dj in sweden, patrick siechs transition to production has been a sucessful one, following a few releases for the kant label, is now welcomed aboard adam beyers long-running techno mainstay. >crude<, due to the combination of incredibly detailed (and tripped-out) edits/sound evolution and a lolloping loose bassline, is a woozy peak time anthem which doesnt quit. b-side, >bad carnival<, is a heavily percussive, contemporary tribal techno cut which takes no prisoners.

rino cerrones legendary rilis series returns this summer with a blistering package which features danilo vigorito, uto karem and cerrone himself. cerrone is arguably the most influential character in italys techno scene having carefully nurtured countless artists while juggling labels, a prolific production diary and countless dj gigs. his output always commands respect and this release is no different. kicking of with cerrones 2010 re-edit of rilis 05a1, a percussive beast of a cut which combines rolling funk bass and classic stabs, rilis remix vol 6 is a sure bet for house and techno djs alike. add dubfire, hawtin and villalobos favorite uto karem and the excitement only builds. here, the hugely talented producer delivers a low slung, heavy, trippy and heads-down version of cerrones fracture which stands out as some of his finest work yet. finally, neapolitan veteran danilo vigorito steps up to the plate and delivers a deep and devasting remix of burntit. comprising some fantastic production tweaks and edits alongside rhythmic percussion and the all important rolling bottom end, this is vigorito at his best. this is yet another worthy addition to the >rilis< concept - essential stuff

rinder & lewis: anger - considered one of the most abstract production teams of the disco era, this cut was taken from their >seven deadly sins< album (very rare!). never released on 12inch inch, this cut was a music box fave! not much to edit, just give it a dj friendlier drum intro. a great cut for a disco or a deep house set!mighty clouds of joy: time - one of my favorite edits! taken from their >its time< album. even thought this song was produced by dave crawford, the philly sound played a big part in it (thanks to norman harris on guitar & earl young on drums). the song was originally recorded in 2 parts, so i combined them with a little bit of dub. yes, you can give praise and boogie at the same time!

elton d and snoo back on patterns!! and again with some tracks that will make your body rock for sure! funky elements combined with errisistable rhythms, bongos, edits and uplifting vocal work.. again pure hits that you will hear on the dancefloors all around the globe during the summer!!! hit

after a short hiatus, deeply cultured is pleased to return with 4 raw and dusty house cuts by fast rising french producer kemt. synonymously known for his raw sample based house cuts and edits, kemt joins the label family with euphoric house drenched in analogue warmth, designed for early hour closing sets, packaged as morning after ep.
the a1 presents “hey lover-, a 90s french house nostalgic track thoroughly road tested in many kemt sets in paris. keeping the raw analogy energy with “i can feel you”, a2 is a hazy euphoric club tool.
the b side opens with “next to you- the deepest track on the ep, smothered with a catchy chord progression and smooth vocals. by public demand, closing the ep is a kemt classic and melancholic track “belfast”, which combines raw precision and acid lines. kemt is one to watch!

the seventh 7-inch in most excellent unlimiteds series of mr. k edits combines a pair of lush midtempo modern soul gems, with both sides textbook candidates for a perfect set-opener. “live in me,” from rufus and chaka khan’s 1979 masterjam lp, was never released as a single, but that didn’t stop it from becoming a fan favorite and warm-up classic for soulful djs. composed and produced by the legendary rod temperton and quincy jones, who were fresh off the completion mj’s off the wall when this was recorded, “live in me” is judiciously extended here by danny krivit without losing any of the graceful magic of the original. philly jazz-funkers pieces of a dream get another respectful krivit extension on the flip side, with their gorgeous “warm weather.” written by maestro dexter wansel and featuring barbara walker on lead vocals, the laid-back pulse of this smooth ‘81rare groove mainstay has never fallen out of favor with djs who understand the power of gentle persuasion.

glaswegian techno stalwart edit select presents the thirtieth effort in his edit select records series. “aftereffekts” is a 4 track release that opens with the thumping “the visitor”, this track combines puzzling percussive movements with otherwordly pads which subtly build to a hypnotic climax.
“fallen” is a broad sounding cut with an almost orchestral touch to it. the uncanny drum patterns and repetative fx make for a solid voyage. “aftereffect” is a percussion laden cut with soul touching strings that float throughout. “you” is a melancholic piece of art that incorporates heavenly pads with beautifully orchestrated rhodes sounds and a hypnotic drumtrack.

shadeleaf continues, with a strident 7 out of 7 on the scoreboard! following a stunning (and sell-out !) ep earlier last year, the north easts answer to michigans finest, steps up again, with probably his strongest work to date. mannmademusic became known very quickly, over the space of a few low key, but expertly realised edits releases for the likes of glenview, lumberjacks in hell & diner city sounds. this ep sees him continue wearing his influences proudly, but re-imagine them in an altogether rawer framework - samples woven together, augmented and redefined, some of it following the classic kdj blueprint but laid out in a style thats all his own. those familiar loops submerged and unfurling, rubbing up against altogether more off-kilter but coherent workouts, sat alongside perfectly measured electronic jams all combining into an ep that stands head and shoulders above the competition. another shadeleaf sureshot!

the next release on the invariants contains three edits of tracks from the deep. the a side contains a chicago leaning version of middle eastern esotherics and a more techno dub version of the same track. on the flip are black metal synths combined with 90s strings in a live jam recorded slightly in the red. comes with two locked grooves to serve as a vessel for drumless tracks

on this new 12 inch, we present 3 big names of the digging scene: tokyo matt from the otaku soundsystem originally based in hong-honk, and mori ra & asn from tokyo oyama edit, well know for their releases on curt jackson rotating soulss label. the 4 edits they are presenting are just out of this world. all very atmospherics, they are the ideal combination of space disco, balearic rock, jazz, pop and fusion. another ep to take very seriously.

>where are you now< was originally released in 2009 as the second release on best works records. a track in which lodemanns 90ies house-music knowledge is combined with the sounds of today always keeping the equilibrium between a classic american house-feel and berlin-ortientated somewhat minimal influence. of course the track also clearly shows lodemanns typical dramatic changes. the track became an underground hit over the years with a lot of people doing their own edits. we decided to re-release it with some remixes by some of our favorite artists incl. jimpster and ripperton. both managed to interpret the original vibe in their own way.

edits may be dead, but just when your elitist attitude comes to a head and you think you re on top of your game, there will always be someone deeper, faster and still motivated enough to rekindle your digging desires. where blackdisco volume 10 saw the return of lovefingers and nitedog, volume xi pushes forward into new territory (and with a new aesthetic) by welcoming a group of three deep diggers who shun musical trends and their inherent fakers. dea, albion & spacelex combine their vinyl-mining efforts to unearth some real diamonds from the rough. deas cut malaka is a floater with a funky sailboat vibe, while his complimentary cut taubat takes the tired jungle disco vibe to new level with its triumphant synth-led chorus, an absolute stunner that could be extended for 20 minutes. on the flip, albion spoons water over the coals, steaming up the joint with an uptempo percussion bomb as if santana had a disco secret, and spacelex rides us out with a sexy rock groove complete with mysterious male voiceover, almost as if someone lowered the volume to whisper in your ear.

the legendary sabor do brasil compilations are back, presenting the very best brazilian cosmic music. volume 6 of the series continues to mesh spacey bits of synth and syncopated beats with brazilian rhythms. expect a fusion of cosmic dancefloor grooves and elements of samba and bossa rather than a straight roster of brazilian music. the collection is including rare edits and long versions. titles include: partido alto, chosen ones, african roots, roda, drumm drumm, hey rio! and more. a must for all discerning disco and latin djs!

having played host to the first two daphni edits 12 inches, resista return with the label debut of one tom croose.
one half of ny duo worst friends, toms previous discographic output was a limited & stamped 7 inch that featured a killer edit of the macs >never going back again<. for resista no. 3 he delves into territories brazilian, with >cho chua<, a faultless rework of a certain tropicalista, designed for discerning dancefloors, circa ad 2011. he loops up the swinging guitar intro, which combined with the vocal hook makes for a heady mix. its an uplifting, joyous ode to all things tropical!
on the flip the >dukes dub< is a subtler more restrained version that makes greater use of effects and surprisingly brings the songs percussive elements to the fore... not quite as direct as its sibling on the a-side but definitely as effective!

emanating from japan, and discovered by erid d (of rub n tug fame), these re-edit masterclasses would never have gotten outside of their native market. luckily a helping hand from one of nycs most hyped party throwers has guaranteed a wider audience!
all the combis so far have sold out in a matter of days and are now exchanging hands for silly money. this release has another glorious duo of obscure but super high quality dancefloor friendly edits.

dj diamond is 24 year old karlis griffin from the west side of chicago. he has been producing music since the age of 13 and djing since 20, heading the -flight muzik- clique of footwork producers. you might recall his two tracks from our -bangs & works vol.1- footwork compilation of last year. in addition hes also released several mix cds in chicago, but this, his first international album showcases his unique style of footwork music. dj diamond is a unique producer with his own distinct style and an unusual ear for unexpected sonic and rhythmic combinations within the footwork template. often he thoroughly edits samples into tiny trance-inducing, techno-like stabs. combining this with a penchant for neon synths and loose, broken drums (that are often more effect-laden and freeform than those of of his peers) and you have a sound which has an intriguing, deeper, dreamlike feel. the breadth and quality of his production is clear when you listen to this album. take opener -rep yo clique-s woozy drawling synths and tribal tom patterns next to -speakerz n tonguez- with it-s snapping snares, minimal, repetitive voice samples and martial, detailed drum work. then a track like -torture rack- which is like grime in outer space: a minimal bassline and some samples from a computer game, while a bass kick stumbles at half time, swarms of percussive detail giving it drama. its a brilliant exercise in wonky tension. the extraordinary -decoded- comes across like a kind of amalgam of trance and prog rock bombast at 160bpm while -wreckageÕs- high pitch saw noise is like a strange metallic bird-call, over light cymbals, gabba-like kicks and metallic claps. -digimons- harmonic microedits could even be an snd track transported to chicago. finally the albums closer -i choose you- rolls out over a heavily edited and processed soul sample, its drums rolling off at odd angles to almost seasick effect.

eric duncan (of rub n tug fame) drops release number four in his keep it cheap series - this time inviting the ever on-point justin vandervolgen (tbd) to take care of b side duties head and shoulders above the glut of edits out there, these dig much deeper & are purpose built for sweaty club use, and not to tantalize bedroom bloggers. as with the cult combi series, we expect these to sell out in a matter of days - 300 copies only.

chopshop vol.4 rides into peak-time disco and house party bombs, featuring devious mashups and remixes from australias 2009 dj/producer of the year dj agent 86 and media - connoisseur, almighty remixer and producer pied piper. side a, by agent 86, kicks off with an exquisite edit of >another one bites the dust< that is bound to rock any dance floor. agent 86 combines forces with t-rice to produce the next track, a straight-ahead, get down disco and hip-hop mashup of >whoomp! there it is<, guaranteed to funk-up the crowds. the flipside is dedicated to pied piper, delivering the goods with a killer mix of <mostly dub,< a classy and melodic disco groove. >concerto prelude< finishes off the release with an epic 7 minutes peak-time disco bliss. chopshop music vol.4 is the ideal package for crossing over styles with its dj-friendly edits that make people want to dance and party. as always bpms and timing is included on the artwork.

emanating from japan, and discovered by eric d (of rub n tug fame). these re-edit masterclasses would never have gotten outside of their native market. luckily a helping hand from one of nycs most hyped party throwers has guaranteed a wider audience! all the combis so far have sold out in a matter of days and are now exchanging hands for silly money. this release has another glorious duo of obscure but super high quality dancefloor friendly edits. the price is a little more than we d usually like to charge, but if it wasnt for us, you d be buying these as japanese imports!
