merck 274350 with its propulsive mechanical basslines, industrial-strength percussion, and a germanic vocodered mantra, this teutonic panzer tank of a track takes absolutely no prisoners - an electronic matter of fact statement inspired by the passing of time, fate, circumstance, and synchronicity. holland s misanthropic high priest of psychedelic, doomy, dark house & techno, drvg cvltvre, delivers a trippy interpretation, turning the track into a lysergic love letter to this iconic chemical catalyst, maintaining the dynamic bassline of the original but adding a nagging 303 line to deliver an explosive 3am dancefloor device. one step closer to heaven begins with a metronomic, rhythmic new beat stomp and a nagging insidious synth refrain that recalls the more electronic side of new order. muscular synth riffs then drop in and out of the mix, taking the track into dark ebm territory and ramping up the pressure before the influences of giorgio moroder and cerrone come to the fore, propelling the track into a rapture of hypnotic celestial electronic disco.

revelation ep is the debut release of australian record label denude, showcasing the latest work of melbourne based artist eddie hale. the title track revelation is both driving and warm - layered percussion lines rise and fall amongst detroit inspired stabs and subtly textured elements creating an infectious and uplifting groove. a2’s surging is both tunnelling and driving - straight into late night / early hours territory - with swirling sounds forming a hypnotizing sonic bath for the body and mind. rounding up the a side with a change of pace, aperture’s syncopated percussion leads us on a peaceful detour through ethereal synthscapes as we follow the round journey of an evolving sound that travels full circle. on the flip, joel mull’s hypno mix of revelations propels the listener with mechanical precision through dizzyingly expansive atmospheres of truly mind melting proportions. closing out the ep is terrace of an elephant, tranquil and reflective synth-work juxtaposed with coloured stabs striking through like comets across the night sky - brings us back down to earth in a contemplative mood.

emad dabiri, born in iran, began operating under his alias sarin six years ago with ebm, techno, and audiovisual experiments in toronto before moving to berlin in 2014. kuleshov effect marks his fifth release and displays an evolution forward in his productions that are exemplified by cutup sample techniques, mechanical basslines, and piercing drum sequences seamlessly blurring the fine line between puristic techno and bona fide electronic body music. the ep title refers to a cinematic technique developed in 1920s russia in which two images with different inherent meanings are played in sequence creating a third definition by the juxtaposition. from this concept is where the audiovisual montage and sampling approach of sarin is developed. with regular and infamous performances in the berlin club circuit as well as the rest of europe, dabiri expertly implies how his precise methods of production articulate themselves into the techno framework with music that is pure and mechanical yet incessantly funky and addictive. obsessively sampling from films of espionage, tension, conflict, and war, sarin fuses this imagery with his meticulously curated compositions to force through a new sound.

the new ep by german duo grandbrothers is a collection of remixes and re-interpretations of their standout track bloodflow. the remix by uk producer lone was introduced last autumn but theres brand new tracks to be found here by german techno electronic vanguard christian löffler, everyones favourite new idm producer brainwaltzera and new permanent vacation signing aera grandbrothers are the sum of unique parts: progressive swiss engineer/mechanic/sofware designer lukas vogel and german-turkish pianist erol sarp. their second album open twins sarps piano skills with vogel’s talent for both building the homemade intricate mechanics with which he exploits his partners instrument and also designing its software. sarp works at his ivory keyboard while, from behind his own computer keys, vogel live-samples his partners notes, triggering further effects with the aid of diy electronic apparatus that physically manipulate the pianos strings and body.

ernestas kaušylas aka brokenchord is a music producer and composer born and raised in utena, a small industrial town in lithuania. kaušylas was quickly picked up by black acre, releasing both a 7inch single and an ep, after an exclusive mix of his was aired on bbc radio one’s experimental showhosted mary anne hobbs in 2010.
endless transmissions is the brainchild of kaušylas who single handily (bar two tracks) wrote and performed the entire album. the only collaboration was with jazz drummer, augustas baronas , who he encouraged to play as mechanically as possible. the lp pays homage to creativity and the ability topush the limits of technology with the physicalness of a human body. kaušylas explains “machines that mimic human grooves is boring but the other way around it becomes quiet interesting”.

in 1988 axodry released the maxi 12inch single you on zyx records/combeat. influenced by depeche mode, gary numan and john foxx, the duo crafted high impact industrial, synth pop and electronic body music. their basic set up for recording at rahens home studio was a moog rouge, roland sh-101, teisco synthesizer, linn drum and fricke sequencer. ra/hen performed dramatic vocals, which tell of a lost love found in dreams. included here are the beauty & the beat mix and the beasty dub mix from the 1988 single. on the flip is the razormaid remix, performed by art maharg and joseph watt, that originally appeared on the welcome to the technodrome compilation in 1989. also included is mechanic, originally released in 1991 as the b-side for their final single losing you

were so excited to be the guys that get to deliver you this guys debut release. luca murgia has a sound all his own he really like tom toms, he likes spacey flourishes, and overall he likes to deliver tracks with mobile electroy grooves married to the stability of house. the thing that really makes him special to us is the naturalness of feeling he achieves in his productions he has a neatness to his grooves everything lines up so the body can move freely and the dancer be in a state of flow. all four tracks on this ep have real singularity of intent in their sounds and rhythms but vary dramatically in intensity.

after landing his malfunctioning px-4000 on the purple planet, captain dmx steps out of the smoldering cockpit. after barely setting foot on the dusty landscape, the captain is startled by deep thudding from over the hills. dragging his oxygen pack with one hand and his atomizer with the other, he sets off in search of the other-wordly din. over the hill his pupils adjust to the stroboscopic lightning and below him lies a sea of strange creatures moving together as one body. a cosmic sermon takes place under the three suns in the sky, mechanical and stuttered frequencies set a manic pace and drive the dark creatures back and forth. captain dmx sighs a heavy breath and starts to descend into the fray.

haling from asuncion, lpzs ariel soler, javier rodriguez and jorge carron have spent the past 4 years gradually putting paraguay on the dance music map. for whats proving to be their watershed year, may saw the trio release the well-circulated >1983< ep via the body work imprint, shortly before delivering an era-themed mix for the fashion rag, dazed & confused. now, following on from a recent collaboration with hyperdubs lv, the south americans make their debut on the long serving loungin recordings. >the benedict & grace ep< combines two purpose-made productions specifically crafted to align with the west london imprints heritage for house at the deeper end of the spectrum. cloaked in hardware reverb, a-side >benedict< takes deep house to the doors of driving dub-techno, while >grace< represents a refined garage roller, more respective of loungins output in the early-2000s. over on the flip, rotterdams increasingly revered bruk-step lynchpin c.o.n.e converts grace into an industrious slab of mechanical grime, before the porto-based trikk applies his low-end house sensibilities to benedict by stripping it down into a slab of deep yet futuristic minimalism.

this third outing expands further the mosso musical range, presenting alejandro mosso in some of his most rhythmic and yet, dreamiest atmospheres. unlike mosso002, which got the producer to hunt in his forgotten documents, both airs present on this record have been impetuously developed over the last few months. on the a-side, pleamar is a driving number which boots with a hypnotic metallophone pattern, slowly giving way into a electro (rga)nic piano fest, which in turn twists itself into bent, crushed and perverted synth whistles. this a-side has been designed keeping the lower half of the body in mind, offering full waves of joy and jubilation! now that you are grounded enough, how about flipping that record and meeting us on bajamar - low tide, litterally. on the shores of this b-side is where a wonderful landscape of shimmering spray and glistening stars await you. here again alejandros ability to bring together biotic and mechanic in a homogeneous unity is best revealed. in a magical tour de force, bajamar sends tingles from the base of your heels, up and all along your spine, into your crown, triggering instant wonder, reveries and realisations.
