middleburough lads aaron turner and tom brown make their return to 1080p as perfume advert, following up what i must say was one of the breakthrough early cassette releases of the label (tulpa, from back in 2013) with a vivid and kinetic wash of tech-house and and deeply-layered house—extremely heavy night-drive vibes and more abstracted mesmeric feelings lit with pulsating textures and their distinctly murky cosmics.

gentlemans dub club have been rocking the uk and europe since forming in leeds in 2006. theyve built a reputation for one of the most energetic live shows to emerge from the uk bass music scene, seeing the gents antics astound crowds from goa to glastonbury, bestival, v fest, and more, as well as at the biggest bass music festival in the world, croatias outlook festival. partnering with easy star records, gdc is unleashing their second full length album - the big smoke - and expanding their devoted following to north america, europe, australia, and anywhere else they can. the record features 11 tracks including guest appearances by uk reggae singer natty and tenor sax star josh arcoleo.

word of advice to funk lovers, there is not a minute to lose. get on board of the big hustle’s spaceship. before we take off, let s do a little history. the band was founded in 2014 by bass player and composer sébastien levanneur and its aim is to bring together 70 s old school funk with the hippest actual sound laced with influences spanning from steely dan and headhunters, to snarky puppy and soulive. with mighty horn players, a rock and funky rhythm section, the big hustle s music has a very large variety of soundscapes. the first destination takes us to the washington, d.c. area with “turn up”. the groove is clearly go-go music flavored with the trademark sound of cowbells and of course it reminds us of zapp by the use of the talk box on lead vocals, performed here by saad el garrab. and don t miss out shaun martin (snarky puppy, erykah badu, kirk franklin amongst others) as a very special guest performing the talk box solo! second stop is “a curse, a blessing”. it’s an instrumental very much in the freddie hubbard vein during his cti years. the last leg of the a side ends with an instrumental interlude titled “flying donut”. double tribute to jay dee and flying lotus, the music is a simple hip hop loop based on samples. the b side takes us back into the past with two brilliant covers, involving rod temperton the late great british songwriter who scored some of michael jackson s biggest hits. now the idea for this b side is to do the opposite approach from the a side. taking 70 s and 80 s original music and make them travel into time to 2018. we first land with a heatwave song named “the star of a story” from their 1976 central heating album. track 2 is a herbie hancock song named “gettin to the good part” from his 1982 lite me up lp. this time traveler ep journey ends with an interlude. called “gimme dat”, the song deals with the need of new music, new sound. again, this blend of deep rooted funk laced with a contemporary edge is to be consumed without moderation. and do not forget that e.p. also stands for extended pleasure.

the score introduces several new themes interwoven throughout the film, including identities for the character rose tico, the interactions between rey and luke skywalker on ahch-to island, and the resistance’s desperate escape from the first order. the score also reprises numerous themes and motifs introduced in the force awakens, including those for the characters of rey, kylo ren, poe dameron, and snoke, as well as the -march of the resistance- and -the jedi steps-. themes introduced in the original trilogy return as well, including -luke’s theme-, -leia’s theme-, -the rebel fanfare-, and the -force theme- from a new hope, -yoda’s theme-, -the imperial march-, and -han solo and the princess- from the empire strikes back, and, -luke and leia- and -the emperor’s theme- from return of the jedi. excerpts of the -tie fighter attack- cue, first heard in a new hope and reprised for return of the jedi, are also included. -the emperor’s theme- is the only returning theme to not be included within the official soundtrack presentation, it occurs in the film when snoke tortures rey for information. the score briefly quotes -aquarela do brasil- by ary barroso in its -canto bight- track as a reference to the 1985 terry gilliam film brazil. it also contains a brief quote of williams’s own theme for the long goodbye (co-composed by johnny mercer) during finn and rose’s escape, although this was not included in the official soundtrack release.

big sean is due to release the lp for his recent release, ‘idecided.’ via kanye west’s g.o.o.d. music and def jam recordings / virgin emi. in recent months big sean has been announced as puma’s global ambassador and creative collaborator. prior to this, big sean lit up 2015 with ‘dark sky paradise’ which featured the likes of drake, ariana grande, kanye west, chris brown, john legend and more. ‘dark sky paradise’ spun off the smash hit single, ‘i don’t f**k with you’ featuring e-40. sean was also a major collaborator on kanye’s ground-breaking ‘cruel summer’ album in 2012, and shared multi-platinum success with kanye on the grammy®-nominated ‘mercy’ (also featur¬ing pusha t and 2 chainz), and ‘clique’ (with jay z). released on 2lp translucent blue vinyl, gatefold sleeve, sticker.

zwei jahre nach dem traurigen und viel zu frühen tod des aus aberdeen (schottland) kommenden musikers und designers ewan robertson aka offshore erscheint via big dada nun sein letztes album. die tracks entstanden zum großen teil noch vor seinem tod im jahre 2012 und wurden liebevoll von seinen angehörigen, big dada und befreundeten musikern wie amon tobin, slugabed, ikonika, u.a. selektiert. sämtliche erlöse aus dem verkauf des neuen albums gehen an die marfan stiftung, da ewan an dem marfan syndrom erkrankte. musikalisch überzeugt offshore auf ganzer linie. ob 90s electronica a la boards of canada, post-dubstep bis hin zu hip hop, grime und minimal funk lässt er keine wünsche offen!
