after the acclaimed release of nature boy s ruff disco volume one, frame of mind is back with another re-issue of a 25 year old record. gerd s very first house release called afterglow, produced under the alias of it s thinking together with two of his (highschool) friends mark and dirk-jan, was picked up by john acquaviva for release on the short lived plus 8 subsidiary called malego back in 1992. the ep features five warm and atmospheric house tracks recorded at a dark attic room somewhere in the west of holland in 1991. these days afterglow is quite a sought after record that rarely turns up cheap on discogs. we are proud to be able to offer you limited copies of this re-mastered package.

after 5 years of throwing parties in leeds, london and across europe, flux inaugurates their record label with a stunning 4-tracker from enigmatic newcomer shedbug. accompanying 3 original tracks are german heavyweights tuff city kids (gerd janson and lauer) on the remix. pressed onto 180g high quality black vinyl (no digital release), this limited run is presented in beautiful cover and label artwork from laura zhang. opening track aftermath is a lo-fi techno ballad that pairs distorted kicks and brittle hats with gliding pads and sparkling synth details. siren, a gawping broken-beat roller, counter-balances by drawing heavily upon pioneering sounds of late-2000s uk bass/dubstep. on the flip tck s retro take on aftermath is an uplifting gust of 90s-inspired euphoria. with tough beats, a touch of acid, and rave-tinged string lines, the remix caters for all peak-time occasions. recovery closes with a tender 7-minute sojourn through hazy dream-states, subtly melancholic, but ultimately a cathartic experience. poignant, effective, and well polished, afterglow delivers a diverse but focused sound. highly emotive beats for the more sensitive dance-floor

burly, uk-styled rave tackle from berlin’s phon.o for tectonic after spending the last few years exploring subsets of garage-techno on 50 weapons. clearly carving towards tectonic’s ruder ‘floor criteria, he plays out the dank, shadow-boxing 2-step drums and swooping subs of mercurial next to the aggier grime slap of u8 phunk for the berlin scallies, and yokes some splintered breaks into a submerged jungle-techno chassis with bell blender.
