livigesh, der in der elektronischen musikszene in südkorea sehr aktiv ist, veröffentlicht sein 6. offizielles album 303 romance über no slack records. livigesh ist bei der produktion von 303 romance in acid house, 90er hiphop und 70er funk eingetaucht. sein ausgiebiger gebrauch der 303 acid basslines ist auf dem gesamten album präsent. 303 romance ist ein einblick in livigeshs musikalische einflüsse. quetschende acid- und funk-basslines, breakbeats und abstrakte vocal-samples präsentieren livigesh in seiner bisher erbaulichsten, verspieltesten und einfachsten form.

die -freak ep- ist nicht nur das ergebnis der letzten monate in berlin, es markiert auch den wechsel nach ibiza, wo ellen die warme jahreszeit nutzt, um unter anderem im dc 10 ihren positiven vibe zu versprühen. -butterfly- macht den anfang und setzt nicht nur anmutige 808-nadelstiche, mit der verträumten melodie im hintergrund entsteht eine sehnsüchtige aura, die ellens warme seite offenbart. gerade das bass-grollen betont auf imposante weise die physische verve ihrer musik – kurz: pure liebe. -come to me- ist begierde und leidenschaft in siebeneinhalb minuten. zusätzlich zum deepen grundgerüst drängen sich groovy beats, die eine hypnotische beschwörungsformel freisetzen. willenlose dancefloor-magie, die mit dem eindringlichen rave-signal, schwebenden roland-synths und sh101-raveline die zeit zurückspult. mit dem titeltrack -freak the night away- ist ellen einmal mehr eine hymne gelungen, die sowohl die devise jeder großartigen nacht als auch die atmosphäre ihrer energetischen dj-sets verkörpert. auch hier hören wir erneut ellens stimme – verrückt, verspielt, kreativ. immer nach dem motto: einfach go! mit scheppernden claps und einem warmen bass wird das tanzen nicht nur zum zwang, der track geht mit seinen 303-acid-andeutungen sowie roland piano-sounds eindeutig unter die haut und öffnet die pforten in eine andere dimension.

the memory box parties have been celebrating the classic foundations of acid house for some time, and now they ve launched a label to push their love of squelchy 303 even further. robin ball steps up for the first release with some classic examples of how to ride the well-worn machine and keep it sounding fresh like the first rays of morning through the warehouse window. -acid stomp- needs little explanation - it teases with some subdued 303 warbles before the real meat of the track kicks in and the frequency starts freaking. acid duck is a more reduced affair, while collaboration with neil tibbetts sqolch works a few deep house elements into the mix. mvdc finish the ep off with the abrasive, grungy thrust of back in the dayz

creme organization returns in july with four searing electro cuts from dutchman ekman. mixing up west coast electro with tougher, more textured techno styles in recent releases for berceuse heroique and bedouin record, this artist is as much about the past as the future and proves that across this new and impressive set of tracks. doomsday argument is not as dark as you would expect form the name: its a lithe and slippery electro affair with crisp snares and gurgling bass all topped off by a freaky top line. the great filter mixes up distorted bass with rippling glass synths and sounds both spooky and cosmic, then post singularity day picks up the pace with a quick and urgent drexcyian style that is restless, dynamic and busy. last of all antifragile is a wild acid workout with rocking beats and ripping 303s that twitch every nerve in your body.

originally released in japan in 2015 on dj emmas nitelist music as part of its acid ep series, only a small handful of copies of this 12inch made it to europe. jd twitch was lucky to score a copy and both tracks became firm favourites in his sets and much asked about. twitch felt this music deserved a wider audience so was kindly granted permission to reissue it on optimo trax. yes another double a side release, a1, hiroshi watanabes - infinity sign is a hypno ecstatic acid piano-tingling monolith. a2, kuniyukis acid air is a slow building organic percussive acid freak out that will cause a freak out on the floor. it is hard to do anything with a 303 that is interesting these days but both the tracks on this 12inch are 100% club classic.

next up on the docket for acid camp records is a record created by duo john tejada and justin maxwell. the pair came together to make acr iii with two things in mind: creating sounds that put a smile on their face while possessing as much character as possible. the opening track, -i ve got acid (on my brain)- is a mind-bending wavetable freakout, the likes of which tejada and maxwell have been striving to do for years. using a vintage ems vocoder to create an original vocal sample, this track is bright, playful, & vivacious. -the name rolls in- is layered in an acid playground of sounds. a rhythmic track with a potent 303 bass line, prominent percussion, and that infamous vocoder back at it to create a distinctly groovy track. -field notes-, is a composition of celestial arrangements that is completely beatless. carried through by tiers of sounds, filters, and noisier elements, this track lulls the listener into an alluring sonic dreamscape.

native stockholmer and acid-fiend your planet is next turns in a playful and charming ep for klasse wrecks. a close friend of the label and also recent grafiti tapes alumni, ypin provides 4 trax of wildly different flavours ranging from the messy 303 wiggle homage on thunderdome to the epic rave hardware jam of rave2dagrave . something for all the freaks contained within!!

bevor dieses jahr die festival saison begonnen hat bin ich in berlin ins studio gegangen und habe einige tracks für meine sets aufgenommen. zwei stücke davon spiele ich immer und immer wieder, sie wurden zum soundtrack für diesen sommer. sie sind hypnotisch und freaky genauso wie meine dj-sets. bei der produktion der beiden stücke habe ich einige von meinen lieblingsinstrumenten verwendet, die 303, die 909 und den minimoog, um düstere, verzerrte vocals, seltsame beats und pure, drastischer emotion zu erzeugen. die platte ist meine definition des allien sounds. ellen allien, september 2016

we want to present to your attention a compilation that consists of the russian musicians works. they’re stylistically different, but in the same time they’ve got one energy and close affinity with classical sound. musicians in this compilation represent a little-known stratum of a new russian electronic scene. their music embodies positive transformation of cultural values of our present and future. we’d like to thank all the musicians and those who support us. peace! :)

uk funk connoisseur duke slammer takes the driving seat on the 303-fueled ‘bangkok skytrain’, with remixes from moscow based simple symmetry and returning artist tony g. inspired by tropical heat, bangkok skytrain utilises 303s, analogue drum machines and mixes in field recordings taken from an excursion to thailand. the result is a heady concoction of warm basslines and humid atmospheres, with a groove reminiscent of early 90’s melodic techno and a cheeky drum track that wouldn’t be out of place on a larry heard record. simple symmetry, the lipski brothers from moscow, slowly rebuild layers of the track like a locomotive building up momentum, and in typical style simple symmetry style finding the perfect vocal sample and pan pipes that help propels you into the foreign lands. before you know it the track is pumping at full chug! tony g’s take goes a bit further afield than the original. a dub rhythm sets the picture in outer-space. hihats stutters like cosmic dust rickashading off the nosecone of the space ship while longing strings take us deep into a distant nebular before the 303 bring the thousands of new galaxies into view. definitely music to listen to in the dark! look out for the secret dancefloor weapon ‘just drums’, an industrial drum machine workout for the freaks!

auf ihrer letzten ep * freak* zeigte sich ellen allien im hochsommer 2014 mal wieder von ihrer besonders vielgestaltigen seite. drei tracks mit drei bewegenden gefühlszuständen die jeweils für sich einmalig positive emotionen verbreiten. besonders der track * freak the night*, der mit wärmendem bass, 303-acid-tupfern, roland-piano-klängen und ellen alliens anfeuerndem gesang eindringliche rave-signale verteilt, entwickelte sich zum hit. nun hat die berlinerin befreundete künstler wie aux 88, radio slave und ejeca gebeten den verspielt kreativen track und das ebenfalls auf der letzten ep zu hörende stück * butterfly* zu remixen.

the dawn ep is the debut release of markey alias sander markey. who recently settled down in berlin, after he was living and working as dj and producer in gent, belgium. now he comes up with four really playful tracks. here he shows his affection for funky grooves and soulful voices. with support from mz. sunday luv, who gave her voice for a freaky intermezzo on dawn, the ep starts offensively. the repetitive groove and the marching 303 bass drum toped with a dark demanding voice have a mystic massage. as contradiction to it you hear a charming dirty string ensemble and an odd delayed snare crushing the monotony. spring break as well as in the shade, the last made in coop with robyns alias yannick robyns, have definitely the warmer funky attitude. playing around with a bobby mcferrin vocal sample and bringing out the soul. facing the clouds is closing the ep as rather melodic and atmospheric track.

hit the streets slams in from the start with a confident kick drum, using a collection of layered percussive elements and drums (check that cowbell) to create a solid groove. seductive vocal snippets give the track a focus throughout, whilst fritter artfully introduces fresh elements until its resolution. building chords, open hi-hats and a ripping old-school melody reminiscent of warehouse 303s keep boredom at bay. bonza. ridgee didgee steadily courses through deeper realms, again with that killer percussion. here not one but a variety of freaky vocals and playful samples co-habit a densely layered habitat of groove. feral elements are backed up by a driving aboriginal bassline, relentless til a brief half-time reprise. a limited 200 white vinyls are available.

the d arcangelo brothers somehow forgot about the downtempo side of things for this ep on the warm and freaky 030303 imprint. unlike on their releases for rephlex we hear mid and highspeed chicago influenced stuff thats a big treat for fans of gescom, stinkworx and afx (some stuff brings back memories of his helston flora mix of baby fords normal). mind you, theres still a distinctive d arcangelo sound to all of this jackin. what are all those false and sleepy melodies for? to confuse us? what a mindfuck this psychedelic minialbum is!
