across the street from where trouw used to be, lies a nice little hotel. it was in the basement of this hotel, where a curious meeting happened. something so coincidental and so unassumingly trivial, that even the slightest event of randomness could have prevented this from ever happening, yet it did happen and here we are. this curious meeting was the result of an open studio door of nachtbraker, and the hint of disco coming out the door, where dr. san proper just happened to pass by in search of whatever it is he searches for at 10 am on a tuesday.

the squirrels are back. their second platter comes courtesy of kit n c.l.a.w.s. (say it out loud), the cheekily-named collaborative project from squirrels on film co-founder brian hock and veteran san francisco producer kit clayton, and just like the label s first record, it s a woozy, wobbly trip designed for dancefloors drifting between dimensions. savvy techno heads will recognize kit clayton s name from his decades of experience at the avant-garde of electronic music. in the late 90s, he and partners tang tran and juan mendez (now better known as silent servant) launched cytrax, a groundbreaking minimal techno label that paved the way for the clicks n cuts sound of the early aughts. his debut album — nek sanalet, first released in 1999 on stefan betke s seminal label ~scape and reissued in 2015 — remains one of dub techno s most enduring documents. meanwhile, brian hock moonlights as the drummer for deranged bay area post-punk outfit bronze while recording murky electro-techno excursions as c.l.a.w.s.

osf is happy and proud to announce a new 12-inch by its founder, nur jaber. the label was conceived by the staub resident as her very own creative platform, a place for her to not just release uncompromising music, but also to print poems, letters and in the case of this record, even direct a video. based in berlin, the young producer who was born in beirut remains very attached to her roots. this background partially explains why she can be inspired by tragic events happening regularly in the middle east - making brave statements in the mostly apolitical electronic music environment. the past years have seen nur embrace a career as a music producer, seeing her slowly and steadily become an original new voice in the techno landscape. this ep showcases nur s ability to create and combine daunting atmospherics and frantic paces. it is dark and twisted, with its vocals and screams, but always driving. weapons of mass destruction is meant for banging crazy dance floors, but it is also personal and almost cathartic, especially in the current political situation surrounding all of us. the artwork, as always, is put together by osf family members the beholder and beauty&machines.

producer and dj from cantabria pablo bolívar signs the new release in his very own seven villas, in which he takes the chance to interpret --remixwise-- the tracks on the album traverse -by sensual physics which was originally released in 7v in 2016.

we are facing a very special project for pablo bolívar this time. his admiration for the veteran german producer joerg schuster -one of pablo s musical heroes- gets highly reflected in each one of the eight revisions which form this traverse (reprise) . what pablo exactly does is to respect the original escapist, dubby and ambient spirit of the original trip proposed by traverse , by means of adding a soft, deep and sophisticated club aura. he turn that the album sensual physics takes into the most characteristic bolívar style is tasteful and subtle, therefore it seems a sequel of the original one. no crashes, no harshness. here everything flows simply in a natural way, especially that ambient-deep and tech fog which just adds a punch in any case. tunes as mondragon , málaga or miracle -among others- acquire a new dimension when touched by pablo bolívar s hands: always looking to their origin with respect to the original producer and the delicacy of a revised piece of work.

copenhagens music for dreams comes with yet another strong release - a double album of personal favourites compiled by jan schulte. according to all maps and witness accounts, germany does not officially have any tropical forests. this is of no concern to schulte however, who has unearthed many stunning examples of tropical drum music recorded there. perhaps the number of botanical gardens and palm houses in germany confused musicians into mistaking the climate, or maybe it was just a happy blend of escapism and multi-cultural integration within musical scenes that spawned such a curious output of undefinable tribal folk jazz. most of the tracks picked by schulte were released on small labels in the late 80 s. the musicians involved were mainly traditionally schooled, born and raised in germany. at that time to be interested in foreign folk music might have seemed a gimmick to some, what with the emerging -world music boom- already snowballing into the mainstream. but these songs, while they may be based on musical traditions from foreign lands, deal much more with introspection than exploitation. schulte himself points to his -general fascination for music that describes places where the artists have never been. songs about the jungle or the rainforest made by people that know the rainforest only from television and books. somehow i think you can hear their mythical imagination and fantasy in those tracks,- he explains....

debut lp on street corner music from the ct based producer. -while preparing for my radio show about a year ago, i put a kite out to the kids that i was looking for some heat to play. this kid sent me a 20 second clip of a work in progress. it was sublime. he kept sending beats per my request. it was exciting how consistently good the shit was. blissful, downtempo escapism. his production took me somewhere else, in a time where a retreat from the increasingly stressful day to day is more than welcomed. that first track he sent, -huey-, starts off balloons, wowflower s debut lp on street corner music, just as it started the dialogue between the two of us. the street corner faithfuls will not be disappointed. this shit is fantastic.-

ewan jansen joins the butter sessions crew with five unique tracks spanning deep house cuts to electronic jazz, recorded in perth, australia between 2002 and 2016. on the a side, ewan offers up two memorable and moody gems credo and harbinger that are just as effective on the dance floor as they are in your lounge room! the b side sees something more obscure brewing, kicked off by blueprint a balearic compu-funked tune that makes you wish it lasted for hours, followed up by the timeless piece of jazz infused ambience on the beach . the tail end of the ep leaves us with erewhon an oddball jazz tinged house jam of incomparable qualities!

nice price deal !!! devnik (bart) is an electronic music from the netherlands. devnik started producing in the late summer of 2008, just as a joke. as time passed, the music got better and better. first being into electro fidgety beats and getting signed on the english electro label live-in music, he eventually found out about a thing called dubstep. dubstep now is his main goal, already being signed to dubline audio and having played along the likes of funtcase, cookie monsta, borgore, unitz, subscape, crissy criss, koan sound, ganja white night, sinister souls, osiris, vyron, switched sources and more, devnik is ready to destroy the dancefloor.

the ep is driven by two upfront drum & bass productions that highlight reso’s attention to detail and flair for music with an epic scope. ‘kodama’ is an eight-minute long excursion of relentless drums, tight edits, and roaring bass lines that jolts you to action. on the flip side ’tiberium’ plays with a bright, uplifting lead before plunging into a rolling break and warm bass offset by soft keys and female vocals. this is drum & bass as sweeping, cinematic compositions not just dancefloor music by the numbers. the ep also showcases other sides of reso’s sonic world with the instrumental break of ‘fluid mechanics’ resetting the mood and contrasting against the rush of ‘kodama’ with atmospheric tinges, floating keys, and soaring guitar riffs. the ep closes on another upfront note with ‘mantis’, which swaps the frenetic breaks and tempos of drum & bass for houseleaning 4/4 rhythms and speeds while remaining just as effective.

insgesamt fünf tracks haben die britischen alternative-pop-rocker dafür aufgenommen. die erste single »something just like this«, für die coldplay mit dem new yorker future-bass-duo the chainsmokers zusammenarbeiteten, erschien bereits im februar. im märz folgte außerdem die ballade »hypnotised« und im juni der song »all i can think about is you«.
an der produktion der »kaleidoscope«-ep beteiligten sich unter anderem markus dravs (arcade fire, mumford & sons) sowie kein geringer als brian eno.

after a short break, caduceus records returns with a weighty techno 12inch by long-time friend pascal hetzel. the berlin-based producer delivers four storming tracks that cleverly translate the 90s techno heritage into the present. on motion blur a hypnotic bleep sequence gives way for majestic pad sweeps just in time for your serotonine rush. -stutter- is more restrained, with a modulating chord sequence and sturdy drums, while -timelapse- catapults into darker territory filled with industrial shrapnel and an extra bit of high-octane paranoia. strobe is the fittingly titled closer of the ep. a pummeling piece of monochrome techno hypnosis with a massive kickdrum drenched in reverb and icy atmosphere.

its clear from the opening seconds of tu fawnings debut full length, hearts on hold, that theres something very, very different about this portland, oregon band. the two note trumpet refrain of >multiply a house< that echoes like the distant sound of a battlefield, the ghostly chanting writhing around it as though in a trance, the funereal drums that boom in the background and the harmonies emerging as the chorus unfurls: these are not the sound of your everyday indie rock act.

while red axes s ode to the sun is still running strong one and a half years after its release (it even made it into last year s top 50 at resident advisor), here comes the heavyweight remix package: german wunderkind konstantin sibold is hitchhiking the original into afro rave territories with vodoo percussions and a hauting bassline that will be hard to escape from. fango from the italian degustibis family continues his string of strong remixes as he turns the original into a rough beat version just to drop the melody in the break for maximum dancefloor mayhem. and last but not least the axes themselves come up with a tropical house version that works any time any place. and thus the sun continues to shine.

its just over a year since we started our new label, real balearic. for our second artist album we are really pleased (and honoured) to welcome one of the few djs who can claim to be one of the founders of the eclectic balearic sound. take a trip back to the 70s and 80s in northern italy and you will fine daniele baldelli mixing up electronic, african and slo-mo disco records to co-create the electronica meccanica sub genre. records often would be played at the wrong or variable speed to be made to fit into a wide aural tapestry of his unexpected-but-seamlessly-flowing dj sets. this of course is an aesthetic close to us here at real balearic. a sound we are ever so pleased to have as part of the mixing pot for our new balearic label. for the album he pairs up with fellow italian dj rocca to serve up an eclectic â€,“, electronic â€,“, balearic feast.

after the huge success of their first collaboration, doorly and el prevost are back for part two: this time the world touring doorly serves up a hot original that gets remixed by red rack‘em and el prevost, while el prevost also serves up an original of his own, all on his own no speakers label. the first ep, featuring a lee foss remix, got support form the likes of paco osuna, solomun and groove armada and this second instalment is set to be just as big this summer. doorly is a dance heavyweight who headlines clubs like space ibiza on his global travels, releases on cajual, hot creations and dirtybird and is no stranger to hitting high places in the charts with his big and infectious sounds. as a dj he is energetic and can make a mark on any dance floor, and so will this new tune, ’sonder.’ it is six superbly deep and atmospheric minutes of warm, rolling drums and searching synths that bring an intergalactic feel next to twinkling keys. jostling percussion brings a little loose funk and the whole thing is sure to lock in dance floors. el prevost then steps up to remix after 15 years of putting out killer cuts on labels like third ear. his music has made its way into the record bags of tastemakers like steve bug, dj hell and steffi and this excellent remix shows off his singular style again. it is a little tougher and more energetic than the original, with sprinkled hits, rumbling bass and pixelated synth lines dancing about up top. then comes red rack‘em, the bergerac boss who had a huge hit with ‘wonky disco bassline banger’ last year. it was one of the tracks of the year and has been followed by an equally brilliant album by this esteemed house veteran. his remix here is big, bouncy and off kilter thanks to its coarse hi hats and punchy rubber drums. great vocal treatment adds more wonkiness and broad synth strokes flesh things out into another sure-fire party starter that sounds like little else. last but not least, el prevost offers up a solitary state mix of his own ‘temper mental’. it’s a hugely inventive track with great synth modulations burrowing deep into your brain as dancing hi hats and whirring bass encourage you to cut loose and shift freaky shapes. this is a strong ep that really packs a punch across four standout tracks.

after the creation of computer disco lp (1982), marcello giombini produces the year after i adore commodore - computer music flash, which was mainly made with a commodore 64. giombini was a veteran of music applications with personal computer, started with an apple ii europlus and then converted to the commodore 64 thanks to the presence of 3 independent music generators that allowed him to make more elaborate music easier. the record was inspired by the videogames of the time, so that the titles of the 10 tracks are inspired by the names of famous games. the music was created using four to eleven commodore 64 programmed and synchronized with an external audio interface. at the time, giombini, in his studio in a basement just a few steps from nomentana, rome, had organized a small school with courses of basic and computer music. the graphic is the same of original lp with inner-sleeve dedicated to commodore 64.

taz - up deh a multi-faceted performer and songwriter, taz straddles both the hip hop world and dancehall/reggae arena. he first came to the world s attention performing alongside dizzee rascal on their just a rascal video, having co-written it and earning himself an ivor novello award into the bargain. after becoming the youngest rap artist to be signed to def jam uk in 2004, taz released his massively acclaimed analyse this album and has never looked back. after teaming up with jamaica s jazzy kitt music group, taz released up deh which was immediately snapped up by ramrock records for uk vinyl release. already getting big props on jamaican radio stations, an exclusive on ras kwame s capital xtra show, signal from original memzee and pyro radio, up deh is set to mash up the dance worldwide - trust me! camar flava - get up back seasoned reggae artist camar flava has been long established on the international music scene as a prolific performer and songwriter, recording and producing hits such as whine and twist, it s you, your body is

here it is... a project i unofficially had done since 06Æ. it started when dilla passed february of 06. to cope with the death of my unofficial musical mentor & favorite producer, i started making donuts, uncontrollably. i never planned to release any of the material out of respect for dilla & his craft. iÆve shared some of the music with others, in which they would constantly ask me to hear it, so i decided to put a lil sumthing together and make it official. just for yall. this is a collection of beats i made in 06. some donuts style, some just around that era of 14kt beats. now & laters was always a favorite candy of mine. i used to go to mindells pharmacy in ypsi back in the day and buy all of them. sadly i even stole change from my grandmaÆs (rip) purse for them. ironically, i fell back in love with now and laters around this era. enjoy. 14kt
