marc antona has been always in the pursuit of new expressions within music as he has continually demonstrated with his work. following the jazz-infused adventures of the rattle snaps ep, he finally returns to his own turf to lay down another crucial exploration of beat science. hanging gardens is a masterclass in immersive programming, fusing the natural feel of live drums with crisp electronic tones that hover in a spacious mix. its the perfect angle at which to appreciate the subtlety of sound design that goes into every inch of marc antonas productions, teasing elements in and out of the mix so gracefully, its hard to tell where the joints are. the haunting touches of chords and lingering pad are deployed with poise, the intricate percussion progressively rising and falling throughout to create a truly immersive sonic journey. where the a side deals with angular rhythms and a shape-shifting atmosphere, unrestricted takes the sound palette of organic and electronic elements and feeds them into a rolling, technominded focus. the tribal thrum of the beat fills out an in-the room-ambience while the psychoactive synth flurries speak out the pulse of the machines. its a combination that makes unrestricted as intimate as it is exotic. in combining these disparate feelings within his tracks, antona once again brings a human feel to the technology, pushing the music into exciting new realms in the process.

sos gunver ryberg, aïsha devi, rrose and paula temple are the four artists collaborating for decon/recon 2. the new record will be released as limited edition vinyl on noise manifesto. in this collaboration series, each artist has produced a track from all the artists sounds, yet the release credits all four artists equally on all four tracks. it is a symbolic act for reducing hierarchy, ego attachment in identity, preferring instead to shift the focus towards affinity. paula temple describes the bond in this second collaboration as every artist in this release approaches their creative energy particularly connected towards a more shamanistic mindset. when you listen to the progression of their music, it feels like the physical and mental realms we accept as reality and function within are being stripped away. maybe that is weird to say about underground dance music, but i find the journeys each of these artists take you on are very exciting in how they affect you.

ladies and gentlemen, let us present switzerland s heavy weight champ replika! a great four tracker with pounding, raw and uncut beats from the very start to the very end. having released on labels like seven music, deso, vibes ltd, frole, godzilla kebab and ubertramp, replika has indisputably been pushing his crisp, raw, stripped, unique sound and style of deep house music.

this is a label that i have been meaning to start for years. however, with a possible twist of fate, it is the right time and the perfect body of music to be able to commit to vinyl. these are records that i am honoured to own and play out. a new label from bristol based artist, thrilogy (also known as lee pattison who previously recorded as deepgroove (rekids, cocoon, klang elektronik, junior boys own). expect -organic dusty sampling deep house and techno from bristol artists and friends further afield- and hand-drawn artwork by local artist anna higgie. thrilogy has previously recorded on wolf music, futureboogie and om records and look forward to an ep on omena with an exciting man power remix. also, ishmael finishes the year on a high, his debut album sometime in space (on church records) showcased the multi-instrumentalist s jazzy house cuts alongside peak time techno and chilling ambient pieces. since then ishmael has been touring his live show, as well as releasing some of the most inventive house music to come out of the uk.

although it is not really their debut, gt003 unveils a new stage for the sao paulo collective and its eponymous label on their global endeavours, be it for the chosen source of material they offer or for the regal remixer recruited to enhance its flavours: discosmic royalty prins thomas. delving into the grooves we find ourselves amidst rhythms that rely heavily on the hypnotic power of an infectious bassline, powered by some greasy fingering responsible for the type of gravy that makes brazilian cuisine world renowned. the flip is served by your balearic highness, designing one of his mind-bending journeys by turning the original flavours into a dense compound of molten polyrhythms and worldly spices. an earful of delights for anyone fairly interested in sensorial expansion with high concentration of musical content, what can easily be found when such diversity is sought after, as has been gop tun s mission throughout.

safer at night returns late january 2017 with the vinyl only release of the deep end , featuring two original curses cuts and remixes from ian blevins and holy ghost! safer at night founder curses launched the label back in 2014 and it has since gone to play host to material from eli esobar, walker & royce, jagerverb and of course the label founder himself. here we see curses re-release his composition the deep end marking the ten-year anniversary of its former releases on institutes in 2007, while enlisting ian blevins and holy ghost! on remix duties and stirring in a new original of his own as well. the original mix of the deep end takes the lead and offers a chance to revisit the decade old curses cut fuelled by wandering bass and lead guitar licks, dropped-tempo crunchy rhythms and murky piano chords all instilled with a gritty new york electro feel. holy ghost! then rework the original with the funk-laden feel via bright chord sequences, elongated delay swells and an amalgamation of 80 s synth leads, hooky bass lines and sporadic vocal lines. on the flip ian blevins offers up his interpretation of in shadows employing stuttering vocal hits, choppy arpeggios and droning bass leads to create an emotive and hypnotic number before curses original mix of in shadows closes on a cinematic vibe with an 80 s sci-fi soundtrack feel to perfectly conclude this vinyl only 10 year celebration.

canadian paolo rocco kickstarts the new year with his &#8203,,,judgement ep on hot creations. the first release of 2017 is an international affair, with manchester born trevino and one of the most spoken names of last year, greece native detlef on remix duties. initially making a name for himself through his djing skills back home in montreal, paolo s productions entered the market in 2012 with instant international support. his releases on real tone, one records, saved and others were all met with high acclaims as were the compilations he mixed for defected and get physical. the creation of, ‘judgement’ and ‘that’s it’ prove paolo truly understands what works on the dance floor. 2016 saw detlef reach new heights whilst also debuting on hot creations with his ‘kinky tail’ ep. he returns to the label with a devastating edit of ‘judgement’ and his rolling signature sound. trevino aka marcus intalex &#8203,,,ramps up the ep with his remix, centred around shimmering high hats and a freaky groove. a champion of how a dj can achieve success in two different genres, trevino has released on several of the most praised drum & bass and techno labels for a number of years.

coling strange lands on lies.. going to hit hard, this one..tip! collin strange has a long and storied history in the new york city underground music scene of the nineties. from owning a record shop in the east village, to working at distributers, to playing in bands of all sorts, to producing music alone, strange was around at one of the most vibrant (and transitional) times in the l.e.s., just on the cusp of guliani s culture crackdown which choked the life out of the city, forcing many to leave. currently located in seattle, strange has picked up where he left off years ago plugging in the gear and churning out blistering acid cuts with a very d.i.y. edge that brings to mind drop bass network, unit moebius, or free party french acid of old. coming full circle these tracks are completely at home on l.i.e.s. and will undoubtedly thrash any soundsystem in sight. play at maximum volume for total disruption

brooklyn nyc - 1990. former berklee college of music student ed -the red- goltsman has already been locked away in the studio for the previous 5 years producing and playing on numerous underground soul and hip hop records. his deep love of music and his involvement with these projects eventually led to him setting up his own venture. inspired by encounters with nycs dance music underground these sounds and experiences helped shaped his idea and sound into what would become one of the most popular, cult dance music labels that emerged from the city during those fertile years - bottom line records.

detroit techno pioneer kevin saunderson has revived his underground house moniker e-dancer with into the future, a rolling futuristic nod to the sound of detroit techno. swirling retro-future synths, echoed out claps and solid bass line that just screams detroit. the tracks gritty yet groovy sentiment is a perfect continuation of the very first e-dancer album heavenly, released in 1998

adam port and jimpster have had a special kind of ‘virtual’ relationship the last few years with a mutual respect for each others productions and output of their respective labels. keinemusik, which adam runs alongside rampa, &me and reznik, has grown into one of the most consistent and hottest out there right now with every release creating a big splash and bringing magic to so many dancefloors around the world. adam recently remixed jimpster’s eel pie island to devastating effect bringing his own deep, late night atmospherics to the original and creating one of 2016’s underground hits in the process. so now we’re very pleased to welcome adam port (alongside legendary uk artists stereo mc’s) for a full release on freerange in the form of changes. opening the release we have adam’s own remix which sets the tone with a subtle and gently building groove providing the perfect backdrop for the stereo mc’s esoteric vocal. this lesson in restraint shows why adam’s productions work so well on big systems, letting all the focus shine firmly on the vocal creating an intense atmosphere with not a single huge breakdown in sight! next up we have the original of changes which takes a more electro approach with a simple bassline and crisp hats and once again allowing the vocal space to take centre stage for a deep and memorable track with a message. finally we have a remix from our own jimpster opts to push in a completely different direction. shuffling up the groove and laying down a repeating rhodes riff we’re treated to an altogether more soulful and less stark version making the perfect compliment to the the package. this one makes us think of his remix of osunlade’s momma’s groove which is no bad thing we feel! enjoy!

tut-tut situation has been doing the rounds on dubplate for some time now, with the bandulu massive, commodo, etch and the likes giving this one big support from day one – we’ve seen dancefloors bruk out like a bunch of confused nutters to this one… it’s a certified soundsystem banger for wrong’uns.
on the flip, gantz comes with a new direction of style, dipping into the acid-drenched rave sound of the 90’s with his own set of information. rugged, distorted rhythms grind up against an infectious melody and love’d up vocals, once again, this is proper party gear for all twisted minds (and legs even).

italian roberto clementi has really struck a chord in the hearts of northerners, with releases on scottish soma, danish echocord colour and swedish kontra-musik. perhaps it’s his ability to create evolving and often emotional melodic landscapes over raw, punchy beats that’s especially appreciated north of the wall. this is very much true for true rotary recordings, in any case, bringing roberto clementi in for the label’s second release. ‘to balance a tide’ is perfectly set in the true rotary recordings universe, combining analogue warmth with genuine musicality. there’s no question roberto clementi has soul and has willingly poured some of it into this release, the music has a considerable thickness to it that’s very pleasing to the ear, yet it’s still exceptionally artful. clementi’s soul seems to be an ancient one, given the timelessness of his tracks – old svek releases come to mind but with an added futuristic twist. this is music for dancing and music for dreaming, all in one package. true rotary recordings is run by joel alter and ena cosovic. stemming from a longstanding mutual appreciation for the combination raw techno with more seductive sounds, the label is a natural development of joel’s and ena’s musical and personal partnership. true rotary recordings represents their mutual musical vision and vibe that they love. keeping it raw and genuine.

departing from the lush green planet earth and hurtling through the atmosphere in a burst of punching subs, clattering snares and flying melodies. number six on london’s ever impressive x-kaly has arrived. four cuts that do the right amount damage via a heady mixture of ethereal wandering pads, pulsating sine wave bass, improv jazz keys, languid stepped bass lines and deliciously skittish percussion all shimmering in a bath of otherworldly delight. next level stuff!

an italian-spanish connection is always a good thing. the sort of sensual and mediterranean emotions that carlo and black loops can deliver, is a skill that has been taken far on this new ep. the dichotomy can prove difficult to square sometimes, particularly when the guys have different paths in their sound. but the mix is rich here. the intermission ep is a packed full of soul samples, warm pads, and great solid beats wrapped up as a soulful declaration. their massive love for music really shines through in this ep.

2016 has been a very fruitful year for krill music. the habitat series places focus on shedding light on budding new talents and seasoned veterans alike through solitary tracks. the year kicked off with an ep from those that fall into the latter category - those of whom need little introduction, in stanislav tolkachev, i/y, +platfform and stefan vincent. throughout the course of the year, we then saw the likes of matrixxman, ilario alicante and mental resonance contribute to the now infamous concatenation.

with previous releases on labels such as chronocircle and tom trago’s voyage direct, magnesii delivers a playful blend of house, electro and tropicana for raw tools. the title track, fata oasa is a melodic, lo-fi delight, full of exotic flavours, whilst building ultrabot shifts to a different spectrum of sounds, with chunky basslines and heart-warming pads. on the flip side, euphoric 660, is a haunting house jam with low-pitched vocal samples and sharp percussions. the b-side gets a special 909-led muscle boost by antenna, known for his dark, but emotional sound, which has been embraced by labels such as pinkman, clone and beats in space.

the second release on our recently launched label comes from no other than our unique ricardo villalobos, under his germanized moniker richard wolfsdorf. besides being a world touring dj and headlining the best clubs and festivals around the planet, he has been a reference producer for everyone interested in forward thinking dance music over the last one and a half decades. at mdrnty we all love his music, dj sets and personality and he has been a key player at our events for many years, so it is with great honour that we welcome him on our new label. faithful to his style, he offers us an over 20 minutes length song divided in two sides. featuring canadian singer beaver sheppard, fiva is a mind bending minimalistic trip. beavers mumbling voices add the perfect balance to ricardos abstraction and hypnotism. once more ricardo shows us how much can be said with only a few elements and how deep it is possible to dive and wonder into his sparse music landscape.

victor ruiz is one of the hottest names in underground electronic music right now, and this 12inch on oliver huntemanns always-reliable senso imprint gives a pretty clear reason why. the brazilian dj and producer has been popping up all over the world in the last few years, and his string of amazing releases on labels such as electric ballroom and sudbeat have cemented his reputation. this 12inch is testament to that reputation made up of four tracks of uncompromising, precise techno. side a brings us red lights a spacey journey to the heart of the dancefloor tweaked and shaped for maximum effect on big room sound-systems. dutchman bart skils steps up on remix duties to provide a sick motor speedway mix somewhere between the krautrock influences of kraftwerk and the sleek techno of detroits 2nd wave. the flip brings us nevermind victor ruiz doing what he does best exploring track dynamics within a perfectly developed journey including an unsettling and trippy vocal that lifts the track even further towards the stars. label boss oliver huntemann stops by to provide the remix stipping the track down to his signature sound - deep and streamlined, yet full of emotion.

the pathway traxx journey continues! following the storming success of the killer pt06 from dj w!ld we welcome a stomping, home grown, 4 track ep from the pathway label owner niko maxen. this ep has been over 3 years in the making, since the early days of pt01 when niko produced the original tracks for the label. it has been an intention to follow that release with a solo ep, and that time has now come. true to form, niko’s ep delivers a hard dose of raw house, seductive vocals, slamming kick drums, and skippy hats.

mcdonalds long-standing relationship with firecracker boss lindsay todd – dating back a decade to their joint residency in edinburgh has seen lord of the isles records appear on both unthank and shevchenko, whilst he also contributed to the scotch and field recording shenanigans of last years mac-talla nan creag album. now, mcdonald will now graduate to the main firecracker label for a full lord of the isles debut due in december under the name parabolas of neon. taking shape as a six-track 12inch, the record features glacial techno and downtempo, cinematic melancholia, a fitting tribute to peaks conquered, whisky-drenched travelogues, warehouse parties, long drives and fried afters.

the first track, moaning, has a linear feeling at the beginning: a layer of bass lines makes your feet move instantly until some subtle piano sounds come in at the perfect moment. it creates an atmospheric vibe and when the bass kicks in again, everything seems to fall into place. cosmjn’s interpretation is, as expected, more serious and it has a no-nonsense approach: stripped of the melodic piano sounds, a strong bass line takes over, which makes for an interesting contrast to the original track.
if moaning was a more gentle track, fr sa su is a little bit different: dance floor oriented, the rhythm is certainly higher and it has some intriguing background sounds that go hand in hand with the powerful bass that grows on you from the start of the track. the florian meffert remix closes this ep and it goes out on a strong note: it is a complex track with very different elements and sounds that complement each other just right to get things going.

repress! when three people run a label together it is exceptionally rare to find a positive unified opinion of a record on first listen. when isolée sent his -mangroove- ep to maeve, this was in fact what happened. but it is isolée after all.... mangroove came about last summer when the drifter happened to catch isolée s live set at a festival in switzerland. instantly blown away by the a side -pisco- he was determined to find out what it was and if it was to be released. after chatting, isolée suggested that he would send -pisco- along with a couple of other -demos- to maeve and a few days later the ep was happening. isolée has created some of the most important and beautiful records of our generation and has being a huge influence on what we do, thus we are incredibly excited and humbled to release his work. this three track ep shows several different sides of the frankfurt native, from the a-side dance floor catalyst that is -pisco- to the deeper dubbier b-sides of -l5 syndrome- and -mangrove-. this is the perfect record to mark our tenth release.

the newest release from unrilis packs a literal one-two punch with “stay with me”, a hard-hitting double feature with kaiserdisco and fabio neural bringing out their finest work for summer 2016. the combined efforts of frederic berger and patrick buck under the name kaiserdisco deliver no less than their best on this collaboration with a lifer if there ever was one: fabio neural, who brings a love he has held since the age of 13 to the collaborative efforts showcased here. having earned respect with appearances on record labels like drumcode, and gracing clubs like soundgarden and festivals across europe, one hopes this is far from the last listeners will get from this truly outstanding partnership.

temple of the jaguar is the first release on eomacs new label eotrax. a single sided pressing with an exclusive b-side etching by artist sal stapleton. an 11 minute conceptual track that attempts to explore structure and narrative, texture and tone, taking techno as a starting point, but seeking to move beyond its conventions and expectations. conceived on a visit to teotihuacan near mexico city, inspired by both the cosmic and earthly power of the place, temple of the jaguar attempts to find a way back to the animalistic nature within us all. a reconnection to the dark, sensual part of us that has been repressed for centuries in a limiting and limited, fearbased, patriarchal society. a reconnection to the body.a reconnection to femininity.a reconnection to wildness. to intuition. to sexuality.to earth.to self acceptance.without fear, without shame.

the album a little comedy, a little drama by dusty baron is the result of collaboration of moldavian fellows eugen kara, ivan slivka and dima scripnic. this collaboration has been lasting in the course of 2016, with miscellaneous recordings at home studios, including moldavian radio and television studio. inspired by french and italian psychedelic electronic music of 60s and 70s, cartoons and the comedian genre of absurd, the trio tried to incarnate their vision of the space into a lp comprising 13 tracks. vintage synthesiser lines and classic drum machines create a hugely entertaining blend intoxicated with universal love. now and then you trace the combinations of techno rhythms rushing into the futuristic vertical, and sometimes the sound transforms into a blend of absolute and exotically influenced reverie.

for the mapuches or “people of the earth” the forces of good or “ngnech” - meaning life and construction - opposes the forces of evil or “wekufe”, representing the destruction and death. through their ritual ceremonies, they seek to balance of these two dissimilar energies. the nguillatun, the great ceremony of supplication, is high on all these ceremonies. during the ceremony dances are performed accompanied by various prayers.
this first release, suyai, has 3 tracks from rehue (auca + zedje) emerged from a joint work between madrid and buenos aires. the remix is an incredible work from the french artist, von grall. all the tracks mastered by neel.

good things come to those who wait ... especially to those who wait for the next original dennis ferrer release on his imprint, objektivity. maniac 3000 is the second anthemic single from ferrer s much anticipated upcoming album on defected, paranoia aftermath , to drop early 2017. tapping into his techno-roots for this one, ferrer has managed to create an unlikely union between the groovy techno drums and the suspense of arpeggiated synth line. in ferrer s own words the track was an attempt to go backwards, to move forward .

august 2016 saw running back release a first volume of live tracks from redshape, but january 2017 sees the much loved artist return to delsin, his most regard label, for a second offering of the same. this time the ep has one track made in paris, and one in london, and both are filled with the sort of beautifully bleak and lo-fi sounds that have made this man such a standout artist over the years. up first is london, a chugging track that builds in pressurised layers of coarse hi hats, gurgling bass and pinging kick drums. it is a hypnotic groove that teases you as elements drop in and out and hisses of static and broken little guitar riffs add some cheeky funk. on the flip-side, paris is much more playful, with colourful pixelated melodies dancing about the mix, industrial drums working down low and steppy synths fleshing things out. overall it sounds like a future disco for inebriated robots and is one of redshape s more party starting tracks.
