an all-time rave classic gets the gerd janson re-loving as he works his magic on the 1992 anthem dont go. 26 years on from it s first release, gerd takes the tempo down a notch laying out that all too familiar drum break, instantly recognisable piano line and julie mcdermott s timeless vocals. his subtle touches and added weight, behind a pounding kick, are sure to set any dancefloor alight. about as euphoric as they get - if this doesn t do the business then god help us all. on the b side, belfast s ejeca flips don t go into a heavy-hitting, rave tinged, techno bomb. his inventive sampling turns the synth stabs and vocals on their heads, making them almost indistinguishable, but no less impactful, from the original. it s over four and a half minutes till the iconic chord progression is heard in it s initial form, before ejeca throws it back into a rapid fire, industrial thumper. lastly, gerd serves up a vip dub mix echoing claps and synth lines into the stratosphere, whilst leaving the vocals at bay, save a short cry of don t go from julie towards the end of the track, allowing those anthemic elements to do the talking. a modern touch on an all-time classic from gerd with a complete reinterpretation from ejeca, this is a heavyweight release and one thats already being played by the biggest and the best out there.

boogie café enlist the expertise of goshawk & erik rico to provide the goodness for the next instalment in their boogie café black series. the home e.p. houses four versions of the title track with side a serving up a piano vibe mix, alongside a dub mix for good measure. the vibe mix layers a bassy, bumping piano line & erik s rnb flavoured vocals behind a shuffling beat before a soulful flute line takes centre stage. on a slightly different tip the dub mix drops the flute in favour of echoed out stabs for a sparser and tougher aesthetic, readymade for the dancefloor. flip it over and the percussion vibe mix adds in some choice congas and bongos, combined with sustained organ-style synths and jazzy piano chords, creating a more summertime soul style to the track. the fourth and final dub mix sees goshawk use erik s vocals in short but sweet snippets, adding extra atmosphere to the track but allowing the piano and percussion to lead the way.

*** check b2: !!! *** bath-come-london party purveyors, origins, take to channelling some of their creativity into the creation of their own origins label. at the helm for the debut release is bristolian up-and-comer tommosini. having heard move d unleash the beauty of another dimension at freerotation last year, origins knew they had to find out who the mastermind behind this deep house gem was and the rest, they say, is history. another dimension transports you through the galaxies via a combination of dreamy pads, crisp percussion, full-bodied bass and those sensual deep tinged vocals. future classic in the making. the a2 i dont stop carries on the u.s flavoured deep house with a vocal house track that wouldn t be out of place coming from the shores of chicago masterfully intertwining a bumping bassline, soft organs and those introspective, luscious vocals. flip it over and you re treated to two interpretations of another dimension. first up fellow bristol bass badboy, hodge, serves up a signature remix, chopping the vocals and layering them behind a pounding kick and machine gun percussion to give that bass heavy flavour hes become so well known for. deadbeat steps up to close out the ep with a heavyweight techno rework of the original, complete with hypnotic bleeps, phased hats, and intermittent sub bass goodness, all tied together with a driving kick to give a real industrial feel to the remix.

kim rapatti a.k.a mono junk presents the second volume of finnish electro all-star on his dum records imprint – active since 1992. the new release is the latest chapter of mono junk collaborating with friends, recently with mesak and freestyle man. the a-side of finnish electro all-star (dum-040) features collaborations with top finnish electro duo morphology, who recently released an outstanding album on firescope label. electro por favor is a pulsating driving electro track with a killer bassline and vocals by rapatti – electro at its best. raw, apocalyptic, solitary remix by mono junk follows the original. the b-side features collaborations between mono junk and a very special guest: goner a.k.a. martin maischen, who is known from many hot releases as the other half of german electro act sandbenders. they were at most active around the millennium and made releases for force inc. music works and science city. the two included tracks are deep electroid techno excursions made last year in berlin – very cool stuff.

italian producer piero pirupa’s musical cv is nothing short of impressive. so it’s no surprise that his next production has found a home on damian lazarus’ crosstown rebels, enlisting the vocal talents of new york’s mr.v. influenced by the sounds of 80s and 90s chicago, pirupa worked tirelessly on this ep to reach a version he was happy with. after seeing the reaction from dancefloors around the world, he decided to send it to carl cox and damian lazarus. we must be (the piano track) breathes new life into today’s dance music with a message from a bygone era. it harks back to the golden age of house music with its lush piano topline and positive message sung by mr.v. happiness simply emanates from this production. with lyrics such as “we must be all in this together, we must live to respect one another” and “this is the plan to make us unified” it takes clubbing back to a time when everyone came together on the dancefloor regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or religion.

brooklyn-born jimmy maheras takes us back to his nyc club roots with his fourth record on into the woods.

seb zitos seven dials imprint serves up its third offering with jamie trench & khalil anthony continuing to champion the early garage flavours that the label is fast becoming known for. what was missing transports you back to the 90s with that ukg groove, bumping sub bass goodness and kahlil s gritty vocals. the dub mix leaves only a small portion of the vocals in the mix, chopping them todd the god style and giving the shuffling garage rhythm more room to breathe. on the b side label head, seb zito, switches things into peak-time roller territory, dampening the kick whilst putting more emphasis on the hats, dubbing out vocal snippets, adding acid flurries and throwing in an epic echoed breakdown. all three mixes make a clear nod to the past, whilst firmly setting themselves in the present gold again from seven dials.

tech-droppers fronts a coil of six acidic, harmonizing, well programmed, whizzing and straight to the bone dance punchers. the string of snappy snares, rainy cymbals, steps of cuts & drops, as well as the sequenced balance of high flying chords, rolling rhythms and solidly sectioned stabs keeps all tracks absolutely straight to the point.

it was 2010 when massimiliano pagliara and discodromo got together and started working on costellazione k78. it s finally time to reveal this piece of italo-cosmic beauty landing on cocktail d amore music. the spaceship starts off and a vocoder announces the destination. in the middle of the track there is an interference. is that a hole? oh right they are out of it! going higher, higher, higher through space-time. b side is taken by a dub version where drums play the main role. everything is condensing together, it feels like connection is lost, but the bass line comes in and takes control. destination reached, time to celebrate. thank you guys for the efxapella, we ll all do good use of it. greetings from planet earth!

boogie box launched in style last year with a release from the mighty stl, and now they re revisiting that strong first step with a clutch of smartly selected remixes from some deep cover operators. juniper drops two dubs of -haze & kraze- that press squashed synth pressure, found sounds and splattering fx into tight but funky grooves with a distinctly nocturnal feel. fold s dub of -hide & seek- spaces things out beautifully, taking a crooked, steppers approach that works wonderfully with the source material. jonas friedlich s own dub of -hide & seek- takes a dustier path through the undergrowth, completing a package of truly non-conformist techno that chimes with stl s own outsider spirit.

in 1989, an italo-house act sueño latino released a self titled track, which went on to become one of the most revered electronic music records of all time. louis botella is now set to release a sensational remake on emerald city this september. the track itself samples part of manuel göttsching’s influential e2-e4, an album known for its role in the development of house and techno. fast forward to 2018 and the record is again set to be revived thanks to louis botella, and with the blessing and support of göttsching and expanded music. on his interpretation of the track, louis has stayed true to the original, replaying each part and adding an extra dimension to the tracks through a sparkling piano topline, a new vocal hook and dreamy arpeggiations. louis’ passion for the art of djing was sparked from a young age. at sixteen he got his first gig at a club in luxemburg and released his first record in 1998. since then, he’s released on respected labels such as classic music company, ovum records and poker flat recordings.

steppas records presents ‘osaka steppas’ vol. 3, the third in a series of releases showcasing the japanese underground dub movement. this edition features osaka producers hiroshi and roots masashi in collaboration with spanish producer ojah and well-respected uk singer rudey lee. the osaka steppas’ raw and unrelenting sound developed in the subterranean clubs of osaka, a port city famous for its counterculture night life. inspired not only by the sounds of jamaica, but also drawing inspiration from uk and european soundsystem culture with enough bassweight to test even the toughest of soundsystems. presented in a beautifully designed full colour sleeve inspired by the works of the legendary ukiyo-e woodblock artist, hokusai. this release is not to be missed. side a features an earth rocker riddim from ojah & hiroshi, with conscious lyrics sung by the legendary rudey lee. side b features a much sought after dubplate from osaka producer roots masashi, a deep, dark & mystical steppa.

deep, rootical lovers, darkly seething with one-step-at-a-time hurt and steely, vengeful self-esteem. hypnotic, stripped and desolate, with implacable drums and bass, dubwise from the start, the production is classic, unmistakable wackies, featuring fabian cooke’s scattered, abrupt organ stabs and minimal guitar-work, ras menelik’s masterful nyabinghi drumming, and harmonic commiseration by sugar minott and the love joys (with a strangled sob at intervals). over six minutes, the extended mix is different to the love power lp, and the additional dub, released here for the first time, is unmissable for its extra rawness and dubbed-out emptiness. plus thirteen minutes of blissed-out disco reggae on the flip: two contrasting dubs of the giorgio moroder/irene cara/flashdance cut from love power, both previously unreleased and a bit sick.

originally released in 1992 and 1993 the nex ep and poundstretcher ep have become incredibly sought after on vinyl. however, the poundstretcher ep was always cut too low with 4 tracks aside. we are now taking both ep’s and remastering them to 3 loud pieces of vinyl.
the sleeve will be a specially designed piece of art just for this project, while the label on the 3 records will represent the original releases, keeping that authentic dj nex vibe!

matt edwards and multifaceted artist patrick mason team up as srvd with debut release entitled elevate dropping on rekids this august. whether as radio slave or his various other monikers, matt edwards is one of electronic musics most consistent and innovative artists. ever since his early reinterpretations of kylie minogue and new order, edwards has continually commanded respect as a producer and in-demand remixer, whilst as a label owner his rekids imprint is undoubtedly one of house and techno’s most influential platforms. meanwhile, patrick mason continues to conquer the fashion world, a devout club kid and gifted creative turning heads as an outstanding art director, illustrator and model, whose extensive artistic talents include a unique and compelling voice destined for dancefloors. srvds story begins when the pair met in panorama bar, which soon led to edwards and mason hanging out at the studio and later evolved into improvised performances in berlins club scene and beyond. elevate perfectly captures the raw spirit and vibe of their live show, with whispering vocals ushering in precision kicks and piercing stabs until masons mesmerising voice comes fully into play. an homage to the new york vogue scene and a huge hit at panorama bar - where the pair have set the house on fire with three unannounced shows so far this year nasty is a syncopated, bass-driven monster of a cut complete with infectious claps and metallic effects.

next up on nang it is time for a slice of spot-on male vocal house and disco. liverpool based thomas lang made some fine albums in the 80s and 90s with john murphy (who went on to carve a highly successful career in movie tracks) and david hughes. somewhere in between that and a string of recent albums (“torch songs” and “the german alphabet”) he also managed to buy one of the finest recording studios in north west england, parr street studios (the “abbey road of the north”). we are pleased here at nang to see a new avenue turned in tom’s life, his first foray into the dance world. “scared” was written with late liverpool songwriter john uriel quite some time ago. it first emerged as a b-side to tom’s comeback single “august day” in 2011. here at nang we always loved the smooth and sophisticated vocal and melody. when tom suggested some remixes we were on board.

hitoshi murakami aka first floor debuts on local talk. opening track you dubn t know got a heavy bassline, deep chords and hypnotic textures and sounds like it was tailor-made for those dark and late after hours in the club. a righteous lesson in bumpin deep house... on the flip, delight , shows a different side. a piano driven house track with a great sense of melody that just keeps on keeping on - and that s a good thing.

after being absent for a while, glance is returning with a uncompromising authentic record on footjob. it recently has become quieter around the man who used to be a founding member of running back, but for this occasion he went and dug in his archives and came back with some beautiful old tracks, just to compile them in a classic, full of groove second footjob ep. as a bonus he finishes and ends the record with two downbeat sounding songs in reminiscence of his former genre crossing alter ego siro. so this goes out to all the realkeeper, oldschooler und newcats. glance is back on the map.

another very special ep on al zanders a to z label teaming up this time with vocalist sheyi, for a one-off foray into broken beat territory. the story of its inspiration begins with a trip to notting hill record & tape exchange... after asking for some broken beat, the assistant ventured a withering opinion that -won t be monotonous enough, try the house music section instead- turns out it was phil asher of co-op fame - who, after establishing a genuine desire for said genre - sold al a bunch of west london music which became the influence for this ep. allowing sheyi to shine over a bare bones, syncopated rhythm track on the title cut and an equally stripped down satisfy al amps up the groove, with the g.i.t dub, which was made for ig culture s radio show. limited run on these - don t snooze !

that summer i developed somewhat of an obsession with tonto’s expanding head band after having seen them perform at the big chill festival that year. the music blew my mind. later upon my return to civilisation and the ensuing research which then began in earnest i became as much blown away by the enormous t.o.n.t.o. (the original new timbral orchestra) modular synthesizer that had created the music as i was by the music itself. built in the early 70s, it s still the largest synthesizer around today. with the live show still resonating in my head i tracked down everything tonto had ever recorded. one of these tracks was an obscure outtake from the time t.o.n.t.o.’s creators, malcolm cecil and robert margouleff, were producing and engineering for stevie wonder in the ‘70s(https://youtu.be/wuaszff7yq0). the track, bittersweet, only ever appeared on a highly limited self-released cd put together to coincide with their appearance at the big chill. consequently i featured it on a few mixes i did over the years and invariably i’d be asked “what’s that track?” by those with an ear for something unique. and invariably these same people, many of them djs, would turn away disgruntled when i informed them it was cd only. although i didn t know it at the time, the seed was definitely sown for this vinyl compilation that you now hold in your hands.

saft is proud to present the official re-issue of the 1986 joan bibiloni band classic “the boogie”. the vocals by deborah carter still sound as relevant and uplifting as ever. the sought after guitar licks of bibiloni have appealed to a lot of generations ever since he started making name for himself in the early eighties. while in recent times some of the more experimental work has been re-issued and compiled through some respected labels, the dancefloor classic “the boogie” still remains the pinnacle of the guitarist more dancefloor oriented work.

earthboogie’s debut album, human call, rightly earned praise on its release earlier in the year, with listeners responding positively to its sticky and humid dancefloor fusions of african and south american rhythms, chunky dub disco, retro-futurist house, spacey analogue electronics and sun-kissed balearica. hot on the heels of that release, leng records has sourced new remixes of two album highlights – “high minded man” and “silken moon” – from running back label boss gerd janson and synthesizer-wielding balearic boogie stalwart pete herbert.
