rock trio year long disaster is led by guitarist and vocalist daniel davies who grew up with an insiders perspective being the son of kinks guitarist dave davies. rich mullins has toured the world in his past rock lives with karma to burn and speedealer, and brad hargreaves is certainly no stranger to bright lights and big cities as his moonlighting gig is as the drummer of eight times platinum third eye blind. together, they are indeed, year long disaster.

americhords 2004 enter ep get a double reworking by two of our favourite producers: dan curtin and mark broom. ohios dan curtin metamorphic records delivers two diverse interpretations of >tighter my grip<. his first >track mix< is more in keeping with his recent stripped down productions on tuning spork, with a sharply produced linear reworking which focuses in on the original tracks vocals and shimmering synth riff. his second >string< mix sees him turn in another of his signature techno-funk classics, as only dan curtin knows how. long standing d1 collaborator mark broom, effortless as always, rearranges >phoenix< into two pulsating 4/4 grooves, with the originals haunting string line riding on top throughout both. again, as with recent d1 releases, this is strictly limited vinyl run of 300 copies
robb scotts third single from his glorious debut album afro odyssey is called revolution (future love) and features the gorgeous miss theasha faison. what a song! this one has it all, funky and catchy rhythms, great vocals and deep lyrics. a true statement towards the so called new world order! to calm things down the beat baron out of the dutch country, kid sublime comes up with a dope and reflective version of revolution. on the flip the great seiji from the mighty bugz in the attic collective turns things upside down and drops nothing less than a futuristic dance masterpiece! blessing us with a fierce vocal and an insane dub version. peace to seiji for those straight up booty bouncing rhythms
arturo has been championing the classiest nu disco sounds at his club miocuore in pescara, italy with guests like the idjut boys, stevie kotey, greg wilson, maurice fulton, joakim and alden tyrell and building the most loyal of followings.stevie kotey picked up his album on a recent gig there and the first single svolvaer is destined to take arturo around the world in a bear disco dub spaceship. svolvaer is aptly named after arturos favourite place in norway, a country that has been, in artists originally introduced by bear funk like lindstrom and prins thomas, a musical inspiration to him. arturo adds his own italian flavours though and even bear funk gold artist fabrizio mammarella was enlisted on the guitar lead flipside track rego dancer. its a family affair as they say, but you dont wanna mess with anyone from the capone family
a stunning 3 track ep. >enter the night< provides a very funky vibe. with minimal feel, typified in cuts (yeah, shake a leg!), this records kicks off with a house rhythm before a bristling bass really starts driving the piece along. a smoke filled voice soon comes in, throwing the listener off talking about nights and exits or no exits while the track >no exits< on b2 is a fine and dark mixture of crisp beats and glitchy percussion to create a forceful groove as spluttery synth stabs keep up the incessant pressure. cuts of mazi s vocal twist things just that bit more evil as the house edged mood continues its push further into new depths of mayhem. the driving melody in >sarabbath< on b1 is quite a head-turner and should create a stir in the clubs, using the more minimal and melody side of this great 12inch
understanding is a beautiful harmonic song that states out a strong message. once again, most instruments played and arranged by the gifted musician robb scott.understanding gets the remix treatment by fellow jaymz nylon, who adds a hypnotic groovin´ feeling to the song. also on remix duties for understanding you ll find reel people crew who just recently making waves on the famous defected label. their club mix is definitly the dancefloor burner on this 12, deep pumpin house affair for prime time floors!and as a bonus you ll find another fine tune by our man robb scott which is exclusive to this 12 as complex as love shows again robb scotts passion for beautiful arrangements, very soulful and catchy
new born label hertz records, sprung from the depths of scanian no-mans land, begins its crusade towards world domination with a release from detroit dutchman orlando voorn. the fix man genuinely delivers his best release in years, bringing the high energy funk as usual with two deadly dance floor killers. >enter< is a driving techno monster, with an old school detroit minimal groove akin to rob hoods productions on m-plant or even some of the more tame blacknation releases, updated with a modern freshness in voorns own unique style. but as this music does not translate well into words in our opinion, descriptions are useless until you hear it for yourself
