celldöd, aka anders karlsson, has been releasing dirty electronic music since the late 80s, both small-run cassette tapes inspired by the diy ethos of his post-punk background, and pristine vinyl editions. karlsson s music is uncompromising and edgy, with roots in both early electronic and 70s industrial music from britain, as well as us techno and kraut-inspired german electronics. prior to releasing records under the name celldöd, he released music as the pain machinery (ebm), human experiment (industrial), preset (industrial/breakcore), and hbt (proto-techno/industrial) among others — all unified by an omnipresent diy-punk attitude.

spain s slow town rarely fails to deliver the goods. split, so called because it contains tracks from numerous artists, more than lives up to the label s rising reputation. it probably helps that the a-side comes from former bent man and longtime east midlands deep house stalwart nail. his -shake back- explores similar sonic territory to pepe bradock s -deep burnt-, whilst retaining the chunky, bass-heavy bottom-end recognizable from his releases for classic, shabby doll and robsoul recordings. on the flip, there s an equally assured cut from london stalwarts jonno & tommo. -wolf spirit- is an altogether more tech-tinged affair, built around a restless electronic bassline, hypnotic percussion and woozy, late night chords.

berlin-based dj and techno producer savas pascalidis has been steadily making his mark in underground electronic music circles since his first releases in the mid-90s. born in south germany and later moved to berlin, the well-traveled dj has been among the restless and classically minded members of the dance music community over the last decades. he developed skills that led him into producing records and made a name for himself with a series of dark, loopy and groove driven dancefloor orientated techno music. pure and simple. his releases earned him a reputation for being something of a dance music purist.

die form is a french post-industrial and electronic band formed in 1977-1978. the name die form means (the) form/shape in german and is a play on the english homonym deformed and on the french homonym difforme (deformed). die form is the primary project of electronic musician and multimedia artist philippe fichot. he began by recording a number of experimental cassette releases in the late 1970s and formed the bain total label to release these early cassettes, as well as various side projects such as krylon hertz, camera obscura, eva-johanna reichstag, hurt and fine automatic.

belgian duo raw district return to the crosstown rebels label with addicted, teaming up with the formidable aquarius heaven again for the label, this time remixed by the infamous doc martin and keinemusiks rampa. an ex reggae dancehall and hip hop singer aquarius heaven brings the colors of the caribbean to addicted. raw districts flamboyant percussions grinds the beats into a track that stretches the limitations of electronic music. rampas remix illustrates the breadth of his studio skills, as founder of a production company teile, he builds soaring synths and strumming piano to elevate the emotional aspect to addicted equipping it for the early hours of the night. doc martin has earned the respect of many over his extensive career for his timeless style that bridge many genres. his remix is a driving, dub-tastic, tribal take on the original that has been going down a storm!

‘temporary insanity remixes’ is a 12” featuring the redefinitions of the two original productions of detroit veteran terrence dixon, turned upside down by three of the most groundbreaking electronic music artists as voiski, pangaea and cosmin trg, appearing alongside label head simone gatto. out022 operates as a modern take of old school sounds, an hybrid union of all melodic techno sub forms – these remixes keep the mental locked groove material of dixon’s tracks, adding emotionally irradiating patterns and each producer’s typical paths.

originally released on infarkt records, this great ep gets back to life on atomium. florida boys is a frankfurt/offenbach-based electronic music project by dirk schricker and matthias braun. they have been actively creating music between 1996 and 1998, releasing a couple of tracks on eps and compilations which have been part of the first wave of german underground house music. in 2016 they reanimated their project and are currently working on new music while getting a repress of the much-wanted starship groupies ep.

5 years knuggles recordings! *rising 2016* is deep and dubby balearic tech house. netto houz sampled their classic ladomat 2000 track *rising* to produce two versions of a floating and swirling monster, a late transatlantic descendant of electronic krautrock as well as tracky chicago house. the latter becomes evident when dj kriton reworks the drum parts in his jackin * rising beats*. get two copies of this 10th release on knuggles recordings and mix them from breaking dawn to bright morning sunlight!

what happens when one of the most exciting electronic music projects of the last fifteen years meets the pioneer of cosmic disco? the result is stunning and with no doubt one of the most interesting things we have heard in a while. psycho radio was born in 2002 from an idea of the italian producer daniele tignino and sound engineer pat legato, with vocals from british singer leroy c anderson. they burst in the music scene with an innovative sound that took inspiration from the 80 s new wave, funk and electro grooves. tracks like in the undergroun and right stuff brought a breath of fresh air in those years, and they still sound very actual today. 2016 has seen the addition of producer da lukas to the project, with psycho radio now back with an explosive new single called bad reputation. once again with the captivating vocals by lc anderson. the legendary disco innovator daniele baldelli teams up once again with marco dionigi to bring us two stellar remixes that move from the funk infused vibe to their trademark cosmic balearic journey. an essential record for the final summer days.

the best records have a story, they form part of a journey, different characters emerge and the good music always rises to the fore. in the case of the latest record from scottish producer jack eye jones and the legendary junior sanchez this is certainly true. cocaine blues is a step into the unknown in some respects but in another way, it s a record that seems to fit in perfectly with todays electronic music landscape.

tony scott has been producing electronic music since the early nineties under various pseudonyms, but with edit select he has found his forte, and when it comes to deep, thought-provoking yet floor ready techno, there are not many artists that can do it like edit select. at home on some headphones with your eyes closed as it is on dance floor moving bodies 11.12.16 on android muziq is a must have for fans of techno on the dance floor and beyond.

butterflies is lord tang s second full length release. it is a warm descent into a dub fueled frenzy of color and light. it is a sound dredged from the depths of jamaican dub and spun into a new form that incorporates the many influences on lord tang s creator, dominic cramp: soundtracks, library music, vintage science fiction, broken beats, dirty electronics, modular electronic music, abstract tone clouds.

jürgen karg’s career in music began in the 1960s as bass player for german jazz legend wolfgang dauner. it was not until the 1970’s that he switched his attention to electronic music, launching himself wholeheartedly into exploring the genre and building up an extensive collection of synthesizers over a five year period. his efforts culminated in “elektronische mythen”, a mighty opus of experimental music which reveals new aspects every time it is played. jürgen karg’s music is deeply serious, as vexing as a jamais vu, yet absolutely beautiful. “elektronische mythen” is an album which fits like a puzzle piece between the first and second soundtracks for a clockwork orange. it’s worth to check it out!

the omnibus band was founded by jarda zajpt and petr dikan in 1979 in czechoslovakia. having met at the electronic high school, electronics was their field of expertise. over time, petr dikan constructed several sound devices such as the Šílený fridrich (Šf, crazy frederick) keyboard and the vsd (všude samý dráty/wires everywhere) generator which he operated during the recordings and also at concerts. at that time, heavily influenced by brian eno and robert fripp from the king crimson band, jarda zajpt played the guitars, using all kinds of effects, pre-recorded tapes, and one or more interconnected tape recorders. the first record, “israels”, was produced between 1980 and 1982. in 1985, jarda zajpt swapped a guitar for a keyboard and a new member arrived – pavel zvolenský – who programmed and played the automatic percussions. martin bauer, playing the bass guitar, completed the trio. they have produced a second album, “rhythmus”, in this assembly. remastered from unreleased tape recordings. this is the first release in the framework of the project jupiter 08 – archeology of the slavic electronic sound.
