damian and clement of dop fame return to circus company with a new project of dubbed out late night madness featuring vocalist brian brewster. far more sinister then dops recent output, 7 days features 4 tracks which explore am acidic realm of dark ruminations and swamp dredged rhythms. >introduction< aquarius starts things off with a basic channel-esque wash of chords, noise and spoken word sure to appeal to fans of berlins longstanding dub techno tradition. >so low< comes off like a chopped and screwed take on italo heard only through the mixers effect sends, where modulating analog sequences and a thundering motorik back beat desperately swim to the surface of a blackened ocean gasping for air. >before u go< lightens the proceedings ever so slightly, upping the tempo and allowing the undulating synths lines to sparkle in the periphery, while the incessant vocal encourages all self-respecting punters to stay on the floor until the last track has passed ! its final groove. finally >universe< comes off like a lost out take from kool keiths dr octagon project with its classic jacking electro beat and sultry effected vocals.

korablove is ready for his debut on apl. >splash forward< is not only a track but a new concept. at the beginning everything sounds like a classical deep, simple and muffled step, some chords. then something happens, something special. we all know how the structures are rigid, 4/4 that hardly can match with a breaking, the influences of a genre rather than a way of expressing, dressing, living. splash forward is a new way of seeing things, like if the wall of differences falls down suddently, like if years of clubbing and fight for a new space disappear into thin air. a deep track that transforms into a thriller.

label bosses are back in tandem for the sixth release on micropunto: wine ep, which also marks the beginning of micropunto schallplattens vinyl era. wine ep started as a back to back game after a spillage incident. ikkaku and d-gelo started producing two separate tracks in their respective stations and every half hour they swapped seats, building the tracks as they went along. the result is this musical experiment that sets the trend for all things to come from the micropunto clan. they spilled wine on me kicks in with a deep lead stab from the catacombs. the elements appear on the scene in a stride to resurface. it goes up then down, left, rigth, it gets dubby, then back in your face. in i spilled wine the beat unfolds steadily like a bulldozer coming up to the surface in search of the true sound. next we meet the preacher. with a subtle housy piano lead he puts us in the right track, reminding us that the dance floor is made of sand and we are on the rivers bank. listen to the flow. lord techno, you are my music. originally inspired from a dub tune featuring ras ajay from the spaceship sound crew in london,dubwine closes the triangle with a huge dub flare. fat subsonic bass and broad stabs make this track a serious contender on the dub techno charts. its the producers blink of respect to the reggae culture that has inspired them all through the years, hence the vinyl release.

the opening track from the debut simon baker album was always going to be a strong choice to be the first single. no pressure has received unanimous praise since the albums release and is back with new remixes by art department and simon himself. its rare to get great stand out vocal tracks that dont split opinion, but this seems to be one of them. its slick, deep house of the highest calibre with a stand out hooky vocal from debukas. art department, owners of ras number one track of 2010 drop a superb remix, adding new vocals and teasing debukas back into the mix for a pretty special, hypnotic workout. simons >upstate dub< mix finishes things off. it aims things directly at the dancefloor in his signature, deep and twisting style.

this second ep collects 4 more hard to find on vinyl, early shoes re-edits. the killer afro perculator from shoes005 starts things off followed by afta lafta, the dub mix of timmy thomas why cant we live together from shoes004 and nautilus from the out print re-soled.

danish duo laid back made a most surprising comeback to the clubs in 2010 with >cocaine cool<. not that they had ever been really forgotten: their electro pop classic >white horse< remained a sure shot in clubs for the thirty years after its release 30 years back and a constant inspiration to boatload of diverse artists from techno to hip-hop. >cocaine cool< was recorded at the same session but the ironic vocals ridiculing label executives blowing up their frail ego with the chemical substance were deemed to risquee at that time, so the recording collected dust in some box until last year. bostons >soul clap< another duo hailed as one of the hotest things in clubland known for their eclectic funk-rooted taste. they opt for a cool sparser arrangement leaving out the “white horse -like chords. a loose, dry electro funk beat, hpynotic one-note synth, few dub effects and additional vocoder vocals do the trick bravorously. besides an instrumental version theres also a harder jacking dub take sounding like early chicago house edits. and while the boys are add it they also re-edited another huge one from laid back: >baker man< that managed the unlikely balancing act of not only hitting it bigtime in the charts but also in the emerging balearic scene. this 12 inch is cool in every which way!

i just woke and its pretty cold outside. i havent opened the window yet, but i somehow know it and im listening to these six tracks again and try to make an approximation of why and how i have done this ep. they are pretty different from each other but tell the same story or at least are part of the same one as a matter of fact. maybe they were done as an excuse for my overdue album which is scheduled again for this year or maybe just because i was going through some odd times and needed to immerse myself in doing something. in this case music. more the latter i guess. ok so, the opening track is in a way the end of an era and the last one the opening of a fresher one. and the rest fills in the gaps in between those two moments i guess. i hate conceptual things anyways. i never know or want to know why i do certain things. concepts define something before it already begins its existence and trying to explain why is pretty useless. so here it is. the recording of a certain period of time in my tiny existence. with collaborations with jaw (dop), my brother atilla, who is also responsible for the artwork, and jonny cruz. by the time its out itll be a distant memory for me but hope it lasts a bit longer for anyone that listens to it

b1: una splendida dubbata disorientata - sexy, slow and deep! popping riff stands out amongst the keys and chilled atmospherics. when it kicks into the main section things really pick up. a brilliant track for the end of the night!

two inch punch is from west london. he describes himself as a frustrated soul / rnb singer, with an ear for harmony, melody & a love for dub, rap and soul. inspired heavily by beatles short love-songs, sam cookes heartfelt melodies and donny hathaways incredible vocal tones.
this is an incredible debut from someone destined for big things. you heard it here first!

italian uprising artist frankyeffe is the one to continue the dark tradition on 43 recordings, and he does well just as he does on his every weeks residency on the traintek partys at romes rashomoon club playing alongside people like speedy j, edit select or sasha carassi and many more icons of real techno. he keeps things simple, but very effective, music which is nothing more or less than produced for causing riots during on the dancefloor peaktime. xhins remix on the flip is a really experimental apporach to the original, trcky rythms and he managed to create a totally new essence of the track. masterpiece of remixing, so dont be scared to try this on the dancefloor.

the winter saga continues… this being the second release on art of vengeance, aril takes yet another turn in style, or rather back to the sound of the winter ep that was released on kompakt in 2007. the title track is is a journy in melodies built in layers, trying to fit as much melodies in one track without going over the line. maybe it is over the line? tundra is a bit more on the rough side but with arps and chords coming in and out while glacär/for minou strips things down a bit to a more bassier and warmer sound with string/chords, less melodies and more groove

after a few years releasing singles under different monikers, brooklyn producer lou teti launches his own label, tigers on a leash, with the debut >get away< as a certain way to kick things off right. the original is an almost hypnotic electro-builder with an 80s touch, yet with a sound thats still firmly planted in 2011. even though tetis vocals are used more like another instrument than as a center piece, sneaking in and out against the guitars and synths, it s still the kind of memorable vocal line that you will find ringing in your head as you wake up. drop out orchestras club cut is a just that, a cut to get any club moving. in true doo style, they take a great original and create something special, but completely different. jkrivs deep&disco mix takes deep to a new low, with a breakdown thats truly epic. and finally theres mario basanovs remix. a beautiful deep house groover like only mario can supply.

modularz is a label focused on re-inventing american techno and concentrating mostly on the grey area where bothtechno & house music have no separation. the fusion between new elements mixed with older influences have a strong identity with label and by incorporating these subjects as well as the obsession with all things modular its given the label a niche identity among the techno and international dance community. modularz 03 _ entrada ep a strong 4 track release that features 2 original floor driving tracks by developer & a mental banger from silent servant. included on the release is a track by truncate - contrast 2 which was completely reworked and manipulated by santiago salazar.

its early days yet, but things are going well for the london-based trio factory floor: nik colk (guitar/vocals/electronics), gabe gurnsey (drums/ electronics) and dom butler (electronics/vocals). and optimo music are in the unique position of doing a remix for factory floor and having a exclusive single release for it. ~ (r e a l l o v e) an optimo (espacio) mix is already getting attention from james holden, the quietus, and it was only mastered about a fortnight ago. the optimo (espacio) mix was made at the behest of factory floor an was done by optimo music head honcho jd twitch alongside his sometime collaborator dave clark.

the fifth neurhythmics release is a compilation of befriended artists, and this is reflected by the different interpretations of the individuals to what the labels sound is about. juergen provides the a-side with >common sense< a vocal-snippet driven house-track, that once again underpins his sound-aesthetics of having it sound live and mixed on the fly, straight out of the machine. the flip-side could not start off any better. quite possibly a future classic, >signature< by mike binary, has soul and emotion literally squeezed in between each of the effortlessly programmed beats, and has become one the favourite tracks at the neurhythmics hq to ever been put on the label. last but not least, >no other< by the dirty soul project (you will know these guys, but we were sworn to secrecy) firmly pulls the hand brake and slows things down to just over 110 bpm. this doesnt mean that this very hypnotic number isnt going to work in the early morning slots…au contraire, actually...

the labels hiatus is over. a few years have passed and neurhythmics resurfaces after like-minded souls decided to bring it back. juergen junker returns with a 3 track 12inch that stems from a live-set concept he created over the last few months. raw as you like, it takes a distinct bow towards the earlier days of the windy city. dirty, knackered sounding drums, and cut-up vocal bits fused together to a driving force that is hard to resist. the a-side , >unclean mutha< is a definitely x-rated affair that has the jacking feel built right into arrangement. on the b-side, this is suitably followed up by >working her for real<, which is what we want to happen when this is being played in the club. work it, baby..! the second track, >honey< with its camp statement vocals and similar vibe rounds things up for the first part.

welcome to the world of melted dubs. a new label that will be vinyl only and all releases will be limited runs. our debut is a tune that has been bubbling on the underground for a while a true clash of uk meets us. rockwell takes the cash money family (lil wayne, birdman, kevin rudolf and the uks very own international superstar jay sean) from the dirtee south to a whole nother place. rockwell has been doing amazing things in dnb for a while now but this is something else. soulful and funky, fast and slow. you feel the groove but cant quite place it. already working for the few djs that have it. this is set to do big things. if you are not a vocal person there is a killer dub too. enjoy and be quick!

it seems that dapayk used to listen to a lot of hip-hop when he was younger. his latest ep for still vor talent >let go< has got these influences written all over it. the title track starts out with a male vocal and some sounds that sound a little like scratching before things then quickly head into the direction of the club. the vocal by singer camara could not be more reminiscent of 80s house music and this track has got all the soul and groove of this era. beneath the delicate vocal and sound patterns lies a wonderfully simply staccato house groove that is sure to get everyone shuffling. on the flip things get a little more techy with >nneka<, a deeper and more melodic tech house glider that gently takes the listener towards a harmonic state of mind. beautifully arpeggiated pads, a warm soulful groove and some reverbed vocals make this one. last up is the sample-based tech-house stomper >upyo< featuring production partner jon hester. this is loop heaven: a pushy beat loop with many snares, reverse samples and an unexpected saxophone melody make this one the perfect changeover track from warm-up to peak-time. this ep shows dapayks skills to combine many musical influences into his unique still of tech-house music

syndrome picks up the pace again with another fat slab of rolling tech business. krone is the one taking the stand and starts off with a steamrolling roller made together with >malsum< we are not alone is one to keep your eyes on. like ghost train you can hear it coming in from miles away rattling along the tracks with the cries of all its zombie passengers inside.dont let this one get you as youll lose your brain.for babylon 21 krone trucks along solo style.. things turn a bit lighter but are all about the groove. like back in the old days before all the sounds got processed to death.. this one keeps it subtle groovy and funky all at the same time!

john dalys meltdown gets the remix treatment! 2 awesome remixes from 2 awesome producers. on the a side qrn aka quarion turns out a pure deep house mpc jam, while on the aa echologist aka brendon moeller takes things down the dub techno road with a right club banger. both of these remixes were constructed from sampling the b side tools of the original, direct from vinyl ... no parts here, just straight up raw shit, re-edit style.

chris finke (flux/atomic jam) delivers the dance floor goods with his fresh 12inch release on gynoid audio moofish. the original sees big room production fused with an acid like riff aimed at melting minds and moving feet. on remix duties are none other than mark broom, whos pulsing remix takes things deeper, dj hi-shock and his hypnotic re-interpretation and go hiyama moves away from the usual >4 on the floor< to deliver an atmospheric, broken beat, idm influenced mix. supported already by the likes of: luke slater, xhin, drumcell, tommy four seven, wehbba, audio injection, chris liebing, gary beck, gayle san, markus suckut, tom hades, and more!

summer has come early. the fog is literally lifting and willing the summer to come early with this excellent ep for metroline. lead track diggler’s job is a breezy house number with pimping keys and a beautiful bass bounce. there’s plenty of movement in the percussion and a light touch that just begs for summer to come. shout romance is a shade tougher with its up-front kicks and acid-tinged bassline. it has slow burn intensity that is nicely counterbalanced by smooth reverb-soaked vintage synths.the jackspot remix of shout romance really brings out the funk in those synths, underpinning that with down-the line percussion and skittering hats that give the track a real drive. rounding things up nicely is in the right mood. the track’s bassline is sticky, sweet treacle over which congas and vocal cuts are expertly sprinkled to create a tasty treat. it never gets sickly though… horns are deployed sparingly, and the track has the same cool as a cucumber minimalism that makes this ep pure pleasure on the eardrums

marco zenker, the wonderboy from munich is up and looking for freedom again with his second record on ilian tape. invisible shadows was discovered by ourselves on the last ilian tape warehouse party back last year. when we heard it the first time on a big system - even marco himself - we were pretty surprised. its building up slowly and leads into a very open space - the perfect track to give the night another direction. remain silent after you heard that side and open your ears for the b side that sends us into a different sphere. here we go down. you almost can call that cut a meditation hymne - it has the same vibe as osho ashram s back then hosted by f. fuhlert. finally we have a tripping remix from one of the hottest dutch guys at the moment - conforce. known for his releases on meanwhile, delsin or rush hour he shows once again why holland is thechicago of europe. its just free spirited, soulful and openminded. qualities we are missing here more or less in bavaria. so we are trying to open up and change things. the time will come. kiss

superb reissue of an amazing lost boogie gem from 1981 hailing from sweden, an unlikely hub of funk excellence in the early 80s. originally released on tiny label newlock, both sides of this 12 inch are fantastic - side as >supercool< is a tight funky workout with laidback vocals and a super-summery feel while side bs >percussion sundance< more than lives up to its cult balearic reputation, with six minutes of blissed-out soaring synths, heavy syncopated percussion and smooth bass combining to create one of the hottest things ever to come out of scandinavia. you must have this!

niconé is back on stil vor talent with his very much loved project that has already brought us an absolute scorcher on stil vor talent before. again he features the wonderful vocal of narra on this hypnotically happy percussive house affair >caje<. the original track grooves on some free swinging percussions and a softly moving house loop making this a very subtle killer for any afterhour. while narras vocals carry the track as light as a feather it is after the breakdown that things get really musical! for the remixes stil vor talent has aligned a high-quality and diverse array of current top-notch producers. things go dark, minimal and very technological with pan-pots take on >caje< that still keeps a very soulful element in its approach. then, berlins coolest kid on the block adam port knows that every track gets better with a lot of claps-and he sure is right in his interpretation of >caje<. this is one of these tracks that sucks the listener in so deep that there is simply no escape: repetitive yet constantly changing and constantly grooving while remaining very pure! for his very soulful groove dirty doering adds some wonderfully melodic synths and guitars to his track that turn >caje< into an even more summery house affair. this release is filled with tracks that will long echo on the dancefloor!

the danish duo darkness falls is a new alternative rock duo right from the centre of the emerging copenhagen music scene, a collaboration between josephine philip (vocals, keyboards) and ina lindgreen (guitar, bass). their sound is rooted in rock tradition, with elements of post punk, distant beats, and chanting, textured productions wrapped up with a great passion for classic 60s twang guitar sounds. a beautiful mixture of charming pop and melancholy, this is feel good music for 2011 and beyond. produced by trentemøller these 4 tracks are a spellbinding taste of things to come. the combination of trentemøllers glistening production and the unique, heartfelt music of darkness falls is sure to uplift and inspire.

two previously unreleased jimpster remixes of seal available on this limited white label. the a side side is a raw, detroit tinged mid-tempo jam with seals amazing vocals making this one a solid party starter. flip over for weight of my mistakes which sees jimpster flip things into an epic modern soulful house track laden with real strings, warm rolling bass and tight afro drums. these are his first remixes outside of his freerange label since his mighty remix for josh wink last year.

matthew styles remixes one of fofs biggest releases of 2010. never straying far from the source material, matthew wraps things up in his usual tight production style, employing a live bass sound and elements of the original melody to give things a tripppier edge than the originals straight up dance floor leanings.
on the flip and walking that fine line between house and techno, blm turns in a very fine and contemporary remix of drake and griifiths >the devils eyes<. dystopian in its outlook, the remix drives along with a simple but full bassline with plenty of dancefloor power.

head-turning singles >tuff enough< and >take em up< from marcus >shit robot< lambkins fantastic debut, from the cradle to the rave, get reinvented by two of the most talented dj/producers working in electronic music. on the a-side is germanys michael mayers epically inventive take on >tuff enuff<. less muscular than lambkins original, the remix softens things up by placing supple keys under the hardened exterior. the climax is an otherworldly listening experience that literally builds to take off. on the flip, john talabots remix of >take em up< starts like a laidback house party that builds just enough energy when its relocated under disco lights. the haunting opening — a swirling, ghostly blend of elliptical vocals and handclaps — leads to a sonic journey that is as smooth as it is wholly entrancing. this fantastic coupling of tracks is being produced in very short supply, so snap them up quickly!

there are few artists making seriously great music while not taking themselves too seriously: that difficult feat is one rarely attempted and even less often successfully carried out. benoit & sergio have seemingly effortlessly managed to pull off that contradictory trick, producing songs that sometimes seem like musical open letters: editorials narrated in the voices of unidentified, yet totally recognizable colorful characters, read aloud against a backdrop of beautifully lush, warm and sensuous electronic pop music. the unexpected juxtaposition of such pristine production and playful lyricism — first exhibited on 2009s highly praised <i>what ive lost</i> ep, which included the brilliantly sardonic single >full grown man< – exemplifies why benoit & sergio are one of the most unique and interesting outfits in dance music. its good news, then, that the washington, d.c./berlin-based outfits eagerly expected dfa debut maintains both the charm and expert craftsmanship of its predecessors. single >boy trouble< (the titular counterpoint to >full grown man<) launches the ep with all manner of reasons to take to the dancefloor: an exigent beat, a beckoning synthline, a bassline of understated funk. sergio lethargically sings about girls, making note of both their ups and the downsides, without the hindrance of subtlety. >i love girls/with legs like a ferrari< he states before noting (bemoaning?) the fact that >you need poetry to turn these girls on.< its a song for the best part of the night, full of compulsive rhythms and a climax that builds on sparkly synths. the accompanying remix from visionquest — the detroit-bred, berlin-based label led by producers seth troxler, ryan crosson, lee curtiss and shaun reeves — amps things up, making the beat a more prominent, driving and club banging force. the flipside features >full grown man< and >what ive lost<, which reveal themselves to be worth more than a few revisits.
