hot on the heels of inre rydmen, the ep that the swedish multi-instrumentalist group tommy awards released via origin peoples in mid-june, come the remixes. drafting in a cohort of the very best, this impending release will see the likes of jonny nash, coyote and mystic jungle tribe jump on the remix duties, touching original productions with their unmistakable idiosyncrasies. bartosz kruczynski, the polish producer better known under his earth trax guise, is another name credited on the release, offering up a 15-minute epic as he reinterprets penultimate track, hans logan. also to see an appearance on this ep is the romanian eirwud mudwasser, offering up a rendition of the track ‘mike sierra foxtrot’ reworked in a similar esoteric expanse, albeit it quite a bit more lucid. oscillating electronics mesmerise and an arpeggiating synth melody gradually make way for marimbas. sweeping, elongated strums of guitar stretch out like the horizon and the dialogue between various melodic elements continues throughout as we bear witness to various transformations. irregardless of pacing, the meditative quality remaining consistent throughout each glorious edit.

the third release on the emergent dreamtime label finds bobby bricks and miskotom sharing precious wax space with their own takes on laid back balearic house. bricks is up first, laying down a laid back house chugger propelled by fluttering synth lines that have spent time soaking up plenty of vitamin d. amazon blue does away with the drums for much of the tune, letting the new age synth tones do all the work before a mellow set of percussion comes loping in. miskotom has a more nocturnal feel at work on star master, but it s no less plush in its execution, while ad lucem ramps up fretless bass licks and plastic flute tones for another blissful excursion onto the astral plane.

the second release on figure jams continues to pursue our new concept of pairing certain artists together, this time placing the seasoned swedish sound sculptor patrik skoog alongside abstract division, a collaborative project of paul boex and dave miller, two equally experienced dutch producers. the latter deliver a pair of straight-forward tunes that seemingly stem from the depths of space. with an intimidating backdrop of menacing and rummaging drones they carefully create a constant sense of alarming tension that is never lifted. this abstract threat takes solid shape in patrik skoogs slamming -the field-, a heavy hitter of immense magnitude that despite packing a bouncy punch still stays afloat thanks to its lightly dancing hats. another agile alien grooves closes the ep, with rides zooming in and out, slingering and cutting through the tracks subtly booming body

alemayehu eshete is considered the golden voice of ethopia. since his first hit single seul in 1961 he has become the father figure of the soulful stream of ethopian music. in ethiopia no other musician adapted the newest trends from the us soul scene as consequently as alemayehu did. with this new 7- he continues his soulful approach on ethopian music. his funky classic alteleyeshegnem is here re-interpretated by the philophon house band in an even funkier way than the original. a tough beat is crisscrossed by mystic harmonies and a pumping bassline. temar ledje points out the sweet side of master alemayehu. this is another classic tune that comes dosed with a rejuvenating cure by the philophon production team. just listen! the cooperation between alemayehu eshete and philophon was initiated by listros e.v. berlin with support by the federal cultural foundation of germany.

another odd and rather good 12inch from hyv. we don t know much, but they seem to just know. tip! tracks from hyvinkää, finland. written by juho kahilainen and tomi kesäniemi. both boring family men, middle-aged and middle-class. however, they ve been here long enough to learn a trick or two. nods to detroit, nods to acid. a mid-tempo track tape loader sounds like a 909 trapped in swamp. fast and jazzy r train funk pays a tribute to detroit-legends with a decent 303 line to drink beer to. the tower that stands in the woods is a dubby slow-down before suomi 100 acid celebrates finlands 100th anniversary with lyrics that deal with recession and the finnish government s fair deal to cut everyone s wage.

the much talked about love fever label is back with a hot new ep, this time from absolute with remixes from willian djoko. it follows big records from the likes of citizen, john daley and bicep and is another essential outing from this top label.

frits wentink s bobby donny label returns with a new ep from icelandic producer felix leifur. it s not often someone other than the boss releases on this label so you know this new one is quality indeed. leifurwho also works as david & hjalti and davíð sveinn bjarnason has two solid eps to his name on dirt crew. they show him to be a producer of succulent deep house and atmospheric prone beats. across four cuts here he offers jazzy vibes, organic percussive patterns and authentic styles filled with warmth and soul. opener unidentified blues is a loose jumbled of hi hats and cymbals, rhodes chords and shuffling drums that could well come from the studio of a certain moodymann. they are alive and enriched with real feeling from start to finish. hampton is another tender fusion of deep kick drums, tape echo and curious melodies all tied together by jostling groove that is beautifully incidental and unhurried. contact then brings more proper jazz drums to the table, with distant sax sounds and closely miced hits and spaces of cymbal all feeling loose and free as they suck you into their world. last of all, universal rim picks up the pace with a more rooted house groove, freeform percussion and wooden hits and trilling, echo drenched melodies all making for an intoxicating cut

psycomat return with another super limited and experimental offering, this time from reason stendec. the a-side is an electronic dream take on an acapella version, subjecting reason stendec to extreme stretches, bends and vocoder abuse. the aa-side tries gamely to accommodate jono’s 9-minute kumo mix, a slab of unashamed banging techno that kicks like a buffalo and belches noxious acid fumes from arcane circuits that swell into an analogue meteor shower.

brs were a uk house outfit who released between 2000-2008 on their own imprint friends & families & on many other labels including 2020 vision, cyclo & imperial dub - the group comprised of rob evans, ben vacara & mr mulatto (the 2x latter now members of the situation collective). lovin me was first released on a brs ep on imperial dub recordings back in 2000. in its original format the 12- included the original mix, dubtribe sound system remix and a bonus track bouncing. situationism are delighted to re-release the incredible full length dubtribe soundsystem remix again on limited vinyl. this remix became a classic, appearing on numerous compilations including groove armada s another late night and ministry of sounds chillout sessions 2004 to name but a few. included on this limited vinyl run will be 2x new remixes from italian deep house, motorbike duo harley & muscle & the also the lovely bittersuite, both delivering quality mixes. all brought to you in time for those long summer evenings!
