amir alexander was one of plan b recordings’ first recruits. from his first submission, we knew his sound was perfect for plan b recordings. “sonic subversion” was released as a digital ep in 2010 and now receives a proper vinyl release. we feel these tracks sound even better now. their content is as timeless as ever. they have been slightly tweaked and re-touched by amir for this release, making them perhaps even more sonically powerful than the originals. three tracks of bubbly, banging goodness from one of our earliest comrades.

chapter edits is the brainchild of scott gray aka chapter (artist and dj) and corbi (producer, dj and a&r at fina records) with the aim being to bring art and music together by releasing disco-funk re-edits in limited edition chapter art sleeves. based in ibiza, they will be collaborating with guest djs and producers from with each new release as well as hosting their own parties under the name melon bomb at various venues across the island.

the bush is a homage to the place where i have lived for the last decade (askew road). the askew road itself is slowly changing so i wanted to document all the places that play a big part in mine and my families lives before they eventually get sold for more flats or tescos. first up was peckings studio 1 record shop, which has been on this stretch of road since the 1960s. next up is the mighty sun pub which became a local talking point when they sold the place because a sign sat in the window that announced this bup is close.

file under disco are back with yet more 100% original disco music for the 21st century. for this episode, london based dj & production outfit oh yeah dare to dazzle with this their debut release. blending live instrumentation, strong vocals and quality production oh yeah clearly know what they are doing when it comes to studio time. the result is a truly authentic sound that blends disco, acid jazz and funk seamlessly, but with a modern production twist. crazy ps very own hot toddy is on remix duties and delivers his usual top class results. a vocal and a dub take both give the track a more chunky and club-ready interpretation that will work those dance floors to the bone.

helsinkis lauri saine is the storyteller for this, the third chapter of fools & fables. pleasingly his irresistible releases dont come along all that often, but when they do, they justifiably make serious waves. small remedies, takes us on a journey to a side of saine we seldom see. first things first, blush cuts a breezy, cheerful path through a warm analogue space, with the mid-tempo throb of sampled rhythms to keep you from drifting too far off course. casual wears altogether looser pants as we just bob to and fro in a hammock while rum-soaked session players jam away in a distant speakeasy. the tropical breeze blows free through leisure song too, as we begin to get the impression finland might actually be a small pacific island.

gorge is back on 8bit with yet another great release! for hidaya ep, the labelhead revisited his acclaimed signature sound, combining tight drums & dusty stabs into rollin groove machines that just work in the club. hidaya, the a-side is made to be played during peek time. an uplifiting arpeggio carried by moving spheres will bring the party to the next level. so they say strikes the crowd with evolving synths and floating delays, making it a perfect b-side. enjoy, we will hear these babies a lot!

taking the counter comment to the album’s title track ‘the day is my enemy’, the prodigy are pleased to offer details of a forthcoming ep entitled ‘the night is my friend’ on limited translucent vinyl. the ep includes album tracks ‘get your fight on’ and ‘rhythm bomb’, two fresh remixes and the previously un-released, fan favourite ‘awol’. ‘awol’ has been a track the band have played live since 2012 but as the album writing and recording process developed the band decided to hold awol back . now, after reworking it into a new unheard version they feel it’s time to make it available on record.

two paris legends reunite for the latest outing on the always fresh adult only label. owner chris carrier links up with his old pal dan ghenacia for this three-track ep, which includes a remix from german talent, diego krause. chris and dan last got together for adult only back in 2007, with their ‘tumble blur’ ep and they recently hit the studio together again to roll out two super dope slices of heads-down dance floor funk. as you might expect from two highly experienced veterans, the tracks on offer are both crisp, epitomising that classic house flow with a sprinkling of contemporary flavour. the 2nd degree bounces, whirrs and chirps all over the place while the 4x4 beat keeps the energy levels high. just a sin is a more serious cut, with a solemn presence and stuttered beats together with a hushed vocals giving it a mysterious feel. unison wax bossman diego krause powers up just a sin with his remix, putting a firm emphasis on the bassline, which is strong, murky and unrelenting. a deep, dark slice of groovy house for the after-hours crew

mono junks label dum records is back! in 1994 an untitled 12” ep emerged from helsinki, finland. it was produced by an unknown duo called coopers and released by dum records. that particular squelchy sounding piece of wax helped to establish the sound that was later to be known as finnish minimal techno. alongside sähkö recordings, dum was one of the mainstays of gloomy northern electronics until its death in 2007. after an extremely long hiatus both dum records and coopers have now resurrected and instead of their trademark minimalism they offer now a 3-piece ep full of techno maximality! * indian acid* is a wonky excursion in repetition topped with roland corporations classical tr-727 congas, * ixam* takes you back to the soundscapes of 90s dreary finnish acid and * maximal fun* is a 12-minute trip to the electronic kraut techno madness of the coopers. play loud and preferably in dark. coopers are back with a vengeance!

this 12inch is pure trance. who is/are rita furstenhof? we have no idea who she/he/they are. the a1 track, the mighty -hadron collider- was sent to optimo music hq about 18 months ago. normally sending one track is not much use to a label, but this was so good that we instantly replied to say we wanted to release it. rita furstenhof works in mysterious ways, and it was 18 months until the other tracks for the ep arrived. along the way there were a few times when we thought they had completely vanished, and we were never going to have a complete ep, but finally, here it is.

for our first vinyl release emiel zwart has produced 3 tracks and the guys from twr72 (amsterdam, nl) are on remix duty. at the end they managed to create an ep with a great diversity of pure quality techno tracks. erratic sidewalk and thymine with a lightly rawer and harder feel compared to disclosure with a more melodic and hypnotic approach. the remix is built on a continuous driving rhythm with a steady bassline as you can expect from the guys from twr72.

angels dust is vocalist flavia ciampi and producer david lampley, both originally hailing from san diego, ca. their bewitching, hypnotizing yet soulful debut summons the same heaviness and somber darkness of portishead & mazzy star. ciampi’s almost-whispered vocals are front and center, anchored by loose swinging beats that are as unnerving as they are catchy. lampley (also known as psychopop, one half of san diego instrumental noise legends skrapez, as well as a frequent gonjasufi collaborator) handles the gritty lo-fi production duties.

over the past years bézier has seen releases under the dark entries record imprint with the most recent telomeres ep this year. the title track &#30342,,,, or pronounced * mina* translates from japanese to * everyone*. mina is a journey through space with the initial ascent marked by a moody window of time in which uncertainty dominates the mindset of the passengers. once they break through the atmosphere and are proceeding as planned they land on the final destination, an interplanetary discotheque. mina was recorded this year with mark pistel on the helms for mixing and features sf drummer kevin woodruff of tussle fame providing live drumming for the last portion of the track. along with the title track the b-side includes tracks previously released on compilations but appear here for maximum record playing enjoyment. * serengeti drive* which appeared on honey soundsystems earlier hnytrx compilation of queer dancefloor artists is the slow burner of the group. * mysteries of the deep* which appeared in the jacktone cassette compilation of bay area electronic stars is the soundtrack to an underwater expedition. both tracks were recorded, produced and mixed by robert in his home sf studio in 2009.

the a&r edits return with a double-header from hot digits head honcho fingerman. the brighton producer grew up listening to his parents enviable steely dan record collection and for his comeback outing on a&r has retouched the de la soul-sampled classic, peg. a tight circle of djs have road tested this rework over recent times and we ve been inundated with requests for its release. in 1970, new york session drummer bill curtis merged the fatback jazz beat of new orleans into a street funk band and signed his outfit to perception records. over the next decade, they incorporated jazz and disco into their signature funk style, before moving in an r&b direction in the 80s. during this period, american pop success proved elusive, but the group made regular appearances in the uk singles chart, hitting the top twenty three times with (are you ready) do the bus stop , (do the) spanish hustle and i found lovin it s the latter, an anthem on the uk black music scene in 1984, that has been served up here by fingerman, a staple at his casablanca jazz club residency in brighton and now available on wax for the first time.

uk techno founders b12 return! the duos history famously started in the early 90s with their music appearing under a plethora of monikers under the b12 records umbrella - 12 inch vinyl with notorious cryptic messages engraved in the run-out grooves, before being collected into album form and release on warp. after a hiatus in the late 90s, the pair resurfaced briefly for some live shows, a flurry of hugely sought-after 12 inches and a 7-part cd anthology. they then abruptly disappeared again - this is their first appearance in 5 years, fittingly on glaswegian imprint soma. (their seminal warp records album was named electro soma...is there a connection?)

the anticipated second release from los angeles/seattle imprint slumdiscs comes in the form of a 12 inch from two artists who have each had a prolific year, refining their respective takes on dark electronics. side a features three tracks from italian producer morkebla (where to now?/reckno). he utilizes ethereal synths to create vast, mind expanding soundscapes just as suited for club use as they are for deep meditation. side b is provided by portland artist best available technology (astro:dynamics/working nights). contained within is an experiment in variations and reductions that rewards close listeners with a glimpse into the slow decay of self-contained sonic ecosystems. *go slumming* marks the first full length collaboration between the two artists and showcases the best of their respective styles.

the label run by pau roca and gon backs to disco-house! the a side features the duo michael & jackson. formed by jaime fiorito (son of the legendary dj alfredo and old crew member of phonica records) and thompson, they have pulled off a truly club bomb based on disco grooves and samples. the b side features thompson (this time solo) with soul bomb # 01, in which the red bull music academy 2010 alumni backs to unleash his passion for funk, disco and afro-latin elements into a bright track dominated by a dreamy piano. it includes two remixes by the boss of the label pau roca and the dutch edit-maker star jam master.

by now we know the exaltics stand for high quality advanced deep space electro techno after their great trilogy on clone records and most recently their great retrospective album -the truth 2008 - 2013-on their own solar one music. as a follow up on that album they invited an impressive line up of remixers to work on some of their album tracks! e.r.p. , gosub, dopplereffekt, objekt, and ultradyne: these heavyweights and legendary artists have written some of the most important pages of the electro / techno history. a dream come true for the exaltics and a heavy weight and highly desirable collection of electro techno on solar one music! highly recommended!

in 1997 the vienna, austria based live act syncmode was founded and formed by bernd rausch & sascha sadat guscheh. their first 2 eps were self released between 2001–2003 and continue to play an important role in their reclusive production ethic. they continue collaborations with a close knit operation between 24seven and breakin stevens, which has directly triggered them to surpass the common duo and develop into a collective of changing members, which include the latest fixed members christof winkler and sonny blake. this ep is stripped down to a mix of live synthesis and heady synth-sync and machine drum trickery as it touches on past and future electronic music production techniques and solidifies these four tracks on a solid 12&#8243, vinyl. very rare and limited! due-out-in-summer-2015!

next up on the influential visionquest label is a revered bucharest duo vinyl speed adjust aka claudiu-eduard balan and andrei predoi. this cult pair serve up three essential new cuts that fit in perfectly with the labels spiritualand heady, stripped back techno sounds, and they follow on nicely from great recent eps by visionquest founders ryan crosson shaun reeves and deadbeat. claudiu-eduard and andrei are leading techno makers in their native romania and have made a name for themselves with their experimental, heavily percussive and intoxicatingly intricate soundscapes on labels like pressure traxx, gilesku records, colours in music and many more. here they do so once more, and in the process blow all competition out of the water

youandme is acclaimed collaborative project between berlin based pair martin and daniel. they make raw, emotive underground sounds and martin recently turned out a well received full length album on ornaments that explored far and wide. they did official works for artists like moodymann, radio slave, seth troxler, lawrence and many others. they also run rotary cocktail and 3 other mysterious labels...

park and ride records land into brooklyn with some serious hot techno and house tracks . one more time they are full of individually and personality. amazing cover art again. vinyl only.

echologist and vohkinne go head to head in the latest release for atrophic society. utilising a library of field recordings the two captured in their respective back yards. they ve crafted a sonic pallet using only those sounds, which serves to give a tangible cohesion across the ep as well as provide something a little different from the norm. each track captures a unique set of machine sounds and turns them into brooding, heady, atmospheric techno. a thousand cuts and scythe serve as heavy hitters, whereas nature control and broad swathe to the far side bring a dark mood seething with anticipation.

its not that easy to define the sound of this berliner based italian artist, but he clearly merges different influences together. the opening cuts are quite fascinating for the way they’ve been meticulously built up. it takes off like a soundscape experiment revealing the ambient involvement of the artist, but moves towards heavier structures characterized by elements of dub, mystical chants and solid industrial components. the debut of this album is absolutely great. inner8 brings icy elements together with a kind of dubby rhythm, which on the next song becomes pretty industrial like. it all sounds like a delicious osmosis of sounds and different influences, antezza revealing himself as an inspired sound alchemist.
