for our first vinyl release emiel zwart has produced 3 tracks and the guys from twr72 (amsterdam, nl) are on remix duty. at the end they managed to create an ep with a great diversity of pure quality techno tracks. erratic sidewalk and thymine with a lightly rawer and harder feel compared to disclosure with a more melodic and hypnotic approach. the remix is built on a continuous driving rhythm with a steady bassline as you can expect from the guys from twr72.

zadig is back on his own imprint with three nervous and raw tracks. he founds two of them in a * rush* folder, and after a few months playing those two tracks all around the world, he decided to release the package under the title of * lost tape* with an additional jam as a bonus beat. tape 1 is a banging and hypnotic long track, with a frenetic synth and explosives hats. tape 2 is more dirty, with distorted synth and crunchy beats. tape 3 is a bonus jam, made with machine drums only.

embezzlement society takes us back to the early days of 80s hip-hop with his ‘rough quarters ep. on his record the man from belfast heavily relies on funk-based drum loops as were popular in the glorious days of old school hip-hop. the results are two super casual tracks with a cool hip-house attitude just perfect for hip-house lover drei farben house who took the chance to contribute a remix in his slick and smooth style, merging the raw drums with some tender rhodes. tenderpark regular roman rauch finishes off the ep and slows down the tempo in his remix concentrating on the originals of the samples and displaying his mastery with the mpc once more. as always all tracks have been mastered and cut by helmut erler at dubplates & mastering.

the mysterious talent antenna shows his tough, high impact house sound for his second release on the dutch pinkman label. first up, ‘childhood’ is a mid tempo bit of elastic, groove driven house with whirring machines, raw synth patterns and filtered, muffled vocals. hi hats add an incendiary element of pressure but really this one is all about the pinging, rubbery drums that flail like drunken limbs. ‘when i read my book’ is another purposeful offering riddled with melody and deep drums, slapping claps and lots of jittery cow bells, impish synth sounds and bass kills that brings a real sense of energy to proceedings. lastly, ‘in august’ is a tripped out cut with skipping kick drums, celestial and heavenly, glassy melodies and skittish percussion that all glide along in alluring and off kilter fashion. this is house music, but not as you know it!

a labour of love and friendship, the camila ep contains two finely-worked originals. the slow, loping, scratchy jnd is a collaboration with close friend jürgen von krebs that brings to mind stl and theo parrish in its interlocking simplicity and off-key accents. ricky g. borrowed music return to wax see s a release that very nearly didn t see the light of day. between the years of 1995-99, toka project were writing tracks at diy s studio and releasing ep s with their label, s4g. these tracks were stored on dat tape (remember) and left for release at a later date. when the toka boys moved into their own place the dats were misplaced and presumed lost for good. unknown to anyone at the time, the tracks had simply been placed on a hard drive and forgotten about, until now. so, borrowed is very proud to present a slice of unreleased 90s house just the way we like it
