longtime sf fave joshua (aka dj iz) makes his doubledown debut with a solid three-track ep thats definitely one for the groovers. a-side cut sound check will get the maximum play, a stripped-down filtered cut that pays homage to joshs chicago roots, mixing a hypnotic jazzy loop with some straight-up drums and catchy hip-hop vocal samples. josh keeps it moving on the flip, with rhythmic path, a bass-heavy funky cut-up with some tribe called quest samples and a more dubbier mix of sound check. one of joshs tightest eps in a while, as always with that doubledown quality touch!
