this year is the 2nd year of polen and right now we are presenting the fifth record. louis is a drummer, a bassist, a musician and a dancer and this is his ep for polen. it was a lot of recreating and a lot of shifting to get the end result, but it was worth waiting for. music for dancefloor, for mornings and afternoons, for dancing feet and chosen ears. the art work is made by anne-sophie kneer.

here one of his big hitters let me go feat. elif biçer gets remixed by deep house legend fred p, as well as leo cubanero and deadbeat. new york s soul people boss and underground talent fred p goes rst and unsurprisingly his track is spiritual and way below the surface, with emotive female vocal coos and skipping drums all laced up in mesmerising and soulful pads. then comes leo cubanero, who has been producing on label like festplatten and nachtfrequent since 2003, and he ips the track into a liquid tech house affair with libidinous vocals and freaky synths and pads that add as spooky air to proceedings. lastly, montrealer deadbeat lays down a sublime minimal dub remix that is gooey and lazy, elastic and seductive in all the right ways, especially when the sexy vocal comes in

title track joyride kicks things off with a straight up 909 beat, complete with scifi sweeps and classic wood block percussion, quickly working its way into an very subtle groove with every element working effectively to keep it fully funk laden. sideways completes the a side of the release and gets going right from the beginning. pumping percussion takes hold and hits the ground running before a perfectly weighted synth hook lashes over the top with henning playing with the synths lfo to creative effect. dust takes things down a notch as swirling pads drape themselves over a serious 909 beat. henning lets this one loop out, letting the subtle variations in the synths do the work as the 909 holds the beat solid and reminiscent of early berlin/detroit dub techno crossovers. mars attacks closes of the ep and does so in particularly fine fashion. a more broken beat affair this time from henning and he really works his machines into a sonic warfare of bass tones and tweaked out synths that sear through the crashing percussion workout.

new on the delsin x-series is my home is sonic, a standout techno, dub and minimal album originally released in 2001 by icelandic producer arnvidur snorrason aka exos on ae recordings. exos is the son of dub techno producer octal and released three albums in his career, as well as a swathe of fine eps on labels like thule, mosaic, slow to speak and has recently being picked up by nina kraviz. his ability to build great atmospheres and heady soundscapes was unrivalled, and though they bottle up influences, they are always fresh, wintry and compelling. few have done minimal dub techno better before or since this masterpiece album, so it s right that 2015 sees it revisited by fans old and new alike.

(constant deviants) plays pisano in the six2six records production based on the best selling novel *the swiss conspiracy*. switzerlands swc has abandoned all conventional movie styles and their music magnificently compliments the mounting dramatic impact of this most unusual story. these brilliant tracks appear as musical interludes and extended versions. recorded / filmed on location in baltimore city, washington dc and throughout europe.

now already almost a year has gone by since “inspiration”, the collaboration between jah wobble and singer pj higgins has come out on sonar kollektiv. with “chaingang (remixes)” we get a further renewal of one of the eight tracks off the album. for instance utrecht, netherlands based multi-instrumentalist and producer pitto gets down to work to morph the song into an eight-minute spheric techno extravaganza. some sort of a teaser for his upcoming album on sonar kollektiv later this year (although it will sound completely different). also releasing an album on sonar kollektiv in 2015 is producer marlow from weimar. his voodoo version of “chaingang” draws nearer to the original and incorporates the jubilee style gospel chanting to a hypnotically impelling rhythm. at the right time at the right place this remix will cause outmost frenzy on the dancefloor.

ednic is the italian duo of nicola di gabbia and edoardo cortopassi, and by all intents and purposes, they’re an outfit that’s on to a good thing right now. the guys make quality, analog-enriched house and techno, the likes of which comes to the fore here on puas puas, a vinyl only label that’s already featured the likes of the mole, alex piccini and carola pisaturo amongst others. first up on the exceptionally refined strands of the auberste ep sis the sounds of the original, which is a barnstorming cacophony of acid flourishes and tension-filled motifs. a track that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat for some time, it features shades of old-school electro and techno, and is the sort of track that’ll definitely rescue any ailing dancefloor. the aforementioned carola pisaturo then perks up with the first of her two remixes courtesy of her brilliant ‘church’ mix. a bumping and grinding interpretation on the original, it too keeps the suspense high, most notably thanks to a dizzying array of melodies and a series of potent basslines. her ‘botta’ remix is a more stripped back affair, albeit one that still speaks to fans of discerning fare thanks to its relentless attitude. full of shiny percussion and the odd sultry vocal smidgen, it’s further indication of a producer who looks set to enjoy an excellent 2015. this is classy stuff indeed from the puas puas label.

33-10-3402, also known as serbian-born artist/producer nenad markovic, returns to the esp institute for the fourth and final release in his opium den and whorehouse inspired mecanica series. metamorfoze is a psychedelic melting pot which can best be described as a train commute to a distant planet—our senses confronted left, right and center by unfamiliarities. its counterpart on side b entitled t bov boasts a pseudo tribal rhythm, yet its post-apocalyptic soundscaping takes us anywhere but the expected. at this point nenad has managed to whirl our imagination into a state of confusion so deep that were simply at a loss for words. its in these moments where we at the esp institute are most proud, with the birth of something absolutely new. bravo nenad, bravo.

in part 2 of the laffer ep marco bernardi is going head down, straight ahead and striving for energy. attack of the dessert stormers is an overload of dark electro power, six minutes of squirming bassline-driven movement with surges of intensity from analogue bleeps and subtle drum pattern shifts. theres no let up on the flip side where two sliders brings equal force but in a more techno style. right from the start youll be grabbed by the bassline, but this one rewards extended listening as the track develops progressively with new melodies and metallic touches taking you deeper and deeper.

swedish house hero tiger stripes steps to the barnhus with twilight – a high-octane destroyer of clubs loaded with thunderous drums and shadowy yet sweet organ melodies. the dub version strips the track right down while adding some extra crash ‘n boom before studio barnhus comrade hnny closes things out with a slow-swingin spook story recorded straight to cassette. vinyl only until further notice.

the endurance club was launched in london on friday 13th november 2009 and ran as a regular party for the next three years. the aim was to treat electronic body music as an important genre in its own right rather than just a sub genre of industrial music, whilst linking it to early house and techno, belgian new beat and synthesizer dance music in general. body party is a tribute to all those that were part of the endureance club and to the artists that made the records we danced to.

index marcel fengler unearths another berlin-forged gem with a debut release for somewhen. following an impressive pair of eps on his own sana imprint, label boss marcel fengler was quick to invite the newcomer to the imf family. following a pair of head turning performances on line-ups alongside fengler at his berghain home, the time has come for imf 05 to bring somewhens talents to wider attention.
a cut *dain* is a stripped down techno trip engineered for dancefloors at dawn: a siren call to the club’s most battle hardened heads, its subtle machinations will prove deadly in the right dj’s hands. over on the b-side, *aula* is the eps more unpredictable beast, its rougher rave edges rounded off by a rich bass synth and enigmatic vox pads that give the track an unsettling air as it nears its conclusion. xj closes the ep with an insistent slice of acid with somewhens own playful modern twist.

as we move into a new year, again start the cogs of labels and artists around the world, this is certainly the case for disc over music as they bring us their first release of 2015. high off the back of exquisite releases in 2014 from luca lozano & mr. ho and nicson, disc over’s first installment of 2015 comes from label head tim green - a three track ep bursting with two classic tg productions and grooves which is then given another dimension with a remix from the talented german born producer borrowed identity. the ep kicks off with the aptly named ‘scar’ - a track which when heard, truly makes it mark. it sets the tone for the rest of the ep with it’s prominent bassline and haunting howls whilst dreamlike keys bounce and float above. track two, ‘we thought’ is taken down a gear but keeps all of the groove built from ‘scar’. it begins with a simple trademark tg bassline and is allied with light and free singular keys. the listener is then joined by vocals which along with the previous elements take you on a real trip. borrowed identity speeds things up right away with his remix of ‘we thought’. the track is morphed into a dancefloor groove with the comforting vocals darkened, cut and reworked on top of an unpredictable and fluctuating bassline. managing to keep the identity of tim’s original the track becomes something completely different and certainly makes you feel you want to take the trip

brightons black key records has won many underground house fans thanks to superb releases from iron curtis, tom ellis, ethyl & flori and others, and is now back with another tasteful offering from cecil. the ep is supported by a remix from berlins matthew burton and kate rathod.

the a1 was never a big surprise. mattias fridell s consumed for profit was one of the tracks of the year, and surely fridell s personal best track, and was played by anyone who at least plays a bit of techno in their sets. the usual fridell quality of standard and a tight synth line! a2 sees french artist electric rescue s quarries in the a. mochi remix. a peak-time banger, slapping the synth stabs right into your face. this one always gets the floor jumping. the b-side kicks off with label-head advance human s pure , stripping things down to some essential moody but slamming techno, right up there amongst his best productions. b2 has +platform s mosses closing things off, and as we came to know and love from +platform, it s out there, dubby and dreamy techno, born for those deeper berghainesque floors.

marshall jefferson, ron hardy & frankie knuckles collaborating across 2 sides of a single 12inch need we say more? obviously that s a dream line-up right there & of course the results of such a meeting of minds is nothing short of outstanding! just listen to the record & you ll see! essential business... -ride the rhythm- came out on trax in 1986, making it one of the -first wave- house records to land & make a massive impression here in the uk & in europe. marshall jefferson s fingerprints are all over this bad boy, his massive piano riffs, non-stop bass-lines, the pounding drums, everything about this record is just huge! he had an incredible knack for making accessible, club tracks with cross over appeal that the underground heads clamored to get hold of at the same time. throw frankie & ronnie (literally) in the mix & you ve got solid, classic, all-time gold on your hands (& turntables!). fully re-mastered, re-pressed & re-released for 2015 in it s original format with the permission & participation of all rights holders with all original trax label artwork intact.

only one listen to the crystal clear rapture in the sound of bodhi shows the funk influenced take on dance music this young duo have to offer. olly howells and luke welsby started producing together 2 years ago but ever since they kept on capturing the right attention. therefore it is no surprise that exploited picked them up to release three uplifting, warm and modern dance tracks.

despite refusing to stick to a single genre, deft is one of those immediately recognisable producers, which is nice because it means we dont have to waste any time comparing him to anyone else. 2013 saw the croydon man skilfully hopping from headphone to dance styles, often within a track, his signature blend of cinematic soundscapes and crisp, intricate percussion covering hip-hop, house, and ambient. whats more, his noteworthy contributions to the burgeoning uk footwork scene means the young producer can now count mark pritchard, dj shadow and rockwell among his biggest fans, and boy does this boy have fans, check this bandcamp review of his project mooncircle ep voight kampff: anything this magician puts out has a pretty good chance of getting you pregnant right in the good old music hole. says it all really

2016 repress , this is right up the alley of those who digged theo parrishs dance of the drunken drums: a hipnotic piano chord pattern sets the tone, while jerry the cat provides smoking live percussion and a walkin jazz bass bops effortlessly. the flipside dives even deeper into jazz territory with a jazz trumpet improvising over quirky percussion sounds.

nebraska is someone who’s tracks we’ve been loving for a good few years now and finally managed to pin him down for a release here on delusions of grandeur. the uk producer is something of an enigma, and despite some amazing releases on rush hour still remains resolutely underground and seems to keep his releases to a minimum, focusing on keeping the quality high rather than flooding the market with average material. once again, he brings the real deal with three drum-heavy warehouse jams to nice-up the dancefloor. aw-right (mute version) sets the tone with a raw house groove that keeps things stripped to the bare minimum. a bouncing bassline and rattling percussion break help to define the track but it’s the dusty, dubby approach to the mix which really makes the track shine. next up we have warp and weft, a similar sounding track but by dropping the bpm’s nebraska has created a sublime low-slung, bumpy groove to really move to. flipping over we’re treated to the brilliant eighty eights which will have you nodding your head like the churchill’s dog before you can say ‘looped up piano and bass one bar groove repeated for over eight and a half minutes shouldn’t work should it?’

jonas rathsman marks the inaugural release on the newly established method white label, a club focused imprint from disclosure ’s method records that will deliver an on-going series of one-off releases available digitally and on a limited run of vinyl. “method white is going to be a platform to release some of our favourite music being created right now, that we feel represents the best of the best of underground electronic music today. we also want to take this further by djing alongside some of the acts who s music we release in our wild life events” - disclosure. jonas has gone a long way to prove his value to the dance music community, his releases on french express and remixes for the likes of london grammar, tensnake, duke dumont and sam smith have established rathsman as a driven and forward thinking producer and dj. with ‘wolfsbane’, jonas introduces the first installment on method white and like the flow er it’s named after, the track is just as deadly as it is beautiful. the track has already been a staple among sets from disclosure, huxley, duke dumont, justin martin and solomun among others with jonas perfecting a mix of dark and light while taking the impact of his drops to all new levels. with forthcoming dates including a six-date foray into north america in february, festival performances to come at bestival, lost village, hideout, parklife and the debut wild life festival in june,there are plenty of chances tocatch rathsman doing what he does best - working a crowd.

taking a few steps off it’s usual housy path, metereze presents a fresh new face and a more techno approach to dance music. it is melodie that signs the 4th installment and he is taking it deep into the realms of acid with 3 tracks that not only go well together but they are all meant to make you move in a big way.
acid sunday is as acidic as the name suggests it but in the end it’s the most poetic of the 3. the subtle pads are kinda dreamy but the 303 sounds make it super driving. on the same side we have rhythmico which is dark, percussive and powerful. subtle background bleeps complete the wandering synth that comes and goes but never really seems to go away.
housed on side b justa is a techno monster in its own right. sonically very close to the other two, this is by far the darkest track on this ep. and probably the strongest. techno infused house you may call it or whatever, this is the kind of track that puts you on a serious move whenever, wherever.
